Racial Ray?

Rachel and OprahPerky talk show host Rachael Ray made disparaging racial remarks about the woman who gave Ray her big shot at daytime TV -- none other than Oprah Winfrey, according to TMZ sources. It's a shocking account of a dinner that occurred during the period that the show was being sold.

Rewind to December 3, 2005. Ray was at the Century City Shopping Mall in Los Angeles for a book signing. Reps from King World, the production company that was syndicating the show, were shooting the event for its sales presentation.

"Why is she wearing slave drag? She obviously has problems being black."

At around 7:00 PM, Ray, along with seven others, went to Houston's Restaurant in the mall. They sat in a booth in the far right rear of the restaurant. Ray ordered fish and complained to the table it was dry. She Oprah's Portrait from was also drinking red wine and lots of it -- one source says a minimum of four big glasses.

We're told Ray became "extremely loud and aggressive," and began dissing Oprah. Sources say she told the group about a portrait of Oprah that sits in the lobby of Harpo Productions in Chicago. It's from the movie "Beloved" and shows Winfrey's back, enhanced with scars. She's also wearing a skirt from the slavery era.

Back at the table, sources say Ray launched into attack mode: "Why is she wearing slave drag? She obviously has problems being black."

But Oprah wasn't Ray's only target. Sources say she told the group how much she liked Jennifer Aniston and then called Brad Pitt a "pussy boy." But her harshest comments were reserved for Angelina Jolie, calling her "a skanky, backdoor c**t."

TMZ contacted the Director of Publicity for Rachael Ray, Charlie Dougiello, who said, "Rachael did attend the dinner referenced and enjoyed wine and good conversation with friends and colleagues. She denies making any of the comments referenced. In fact, there are several words that are attributed to Rachael that she has never uttered in her life."

Dougiello added, "Neither in public nor in private has Rachael made a disparaging or cruel remark about her friend and mentor, Oprah, nor a celebrity couple she has never even met."

Oprah Gallery: Click to launchDougiello also said, "There were several associates of Rachael's at that table who, unprompted, agreed that Rachael never made any of the comments she is being accused of making... and it seems very convenient that these accusations are being levied at a time when Rachael's success has focused the public eye on her."

All she said was that Oprah was wearing "slave drag" and then asked if she had "problems being black". That is a valid question. 1) Oprah wasn't even a glimmer in her grandfather's eye when slavery existed. She was nowhere near born, and it in NO way affected her directly. However she has to portray herself as a slave in order to maintain some sort of bond with the slaves. PLEASE...I am so sick of black entertainers who act as if slavery happened to them. Meanwhile they are lounging in their million dollar homes with their own servants to wait on them hand and foot. How hypocritical.

What is it against the law to criticize the beloved OPRAH? Oprah can go to hell as far as I am concerned.

I'm not a huge fan of Rachael Ray, but I highly doubt that this story has any truth to it.

To me, it sounds like she thought she was amongst friends and was just voicing her opinions about a VARIETY of different things......diss'n Brad and Angelina.....Jennifer Aniston etc.....none of those were "RACIAL" as your headline states......even the comment about Oprah, maybe she was saying that IF she had the money that Oprah had....you best to belive she wouldn't have the picture of her in slave clothes so blatently displayed- unless maybe Oprah has a hidden message in doing that.....she obviously has a lot more beautiful pics which she could ahve displayed.....not really certain why her making a comment, would make her a racist.......>maybe because she's not I. Washington.....maybe because she's a white girl....people always have an issue when a white chick makes a comment.....it's ALWAYS racial......so ridiculous.....

HKS and Oprah are great as Mao at censoring free speech . That right I am not NASTY BOIL and I am glad for it. All of Oprahs extending family RAcheal Beaverteeth , Dr. Fill upyourass and Dr. Assblow are lame . CHEAP ! CHEAP ! dicksheads . Oprah needs to get that stick out her ass and remember that she is not god . Her show panders to upper middle class white women . If she ever saw a rapper on the street she would probab;ly call animal control . Dickhedas .

I agree with a lot of the people on the post that Ray Ray’s comment wasn’t really racist, but just ignorant. If she even knew anything at all about her mentor and boss, she would’ve know that Beloved was a project Oprah put alot of energy into and worked on getting made for a long time. If she had ever heard of the book, she’d realize that it explains why slavery is so haunting to blacks and that she’s just a dumb bitch.

If this is true about loudmouthed Rachel, so she's one of those person that is not contented with his/her own glory and still have to put down some people ( big names no less) so everybody can say she's a big deal. I don't think so, you can't buy class.

Oh, I also don't believe Rachel Ray said any of that stuff. There's always someone trying to knock you down from the top once you've made it. Whoever made that stuff up is just mad because they aren't in her situation. Haters!

Firstly, none of us trusts these "sources" that are always quoted. Secondly, some have serious issues with Oprah that they need to sort out. Methinks jealousy plays a large part. It's amazing that people who are just taking up space (Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and co) don't get such venom, but people who are actually trying to do something and make a change in the world (Angelina, Oprah) get nothing but grief. As an African, I completely agree with Oprah's words - African-Americans don't know how good they have it here. If some want Nikes while others want school uniforms, hell, I'd build a school in South Africa too! As for Rachel Ray, who cares?
