Gay Star Sticks Up for Isaiah

Tammy Lynn Michaels and Melissa EtheridgeNot every gay star hates Isaiah Washington.

Lesbian actress Tammy Lynn Michaels, partner of rocker Melissa Etheridge, is the first (and only) voice from Tinseltown's gay community to come out and defend the "Grey's Anatomy" pariah. In her blog, Hollywood Farm Girl, former "Popular" star Michaels writes, in free-form quasi-poetical Rosie-verse, that the Washington she knows -- the one whose kids play with her and Etheridge's kids -- "is not that man," i.e., the hot-tempered Isaiah currently in treatment for anger management . Says Michaels,

he is not a bad man ...
i forgive his words,
because truth be told
i do not believe
the word
faggot
lives in his heart

Washington can use every bit support he can get. Last night, his co-star Chandra Wilson referred to him as "the other one in rehab," and reports are that he may be driving bigotry-target T.R. Knight off the show. And below, at a brunch before the Golden Globes, Washington appeared to enjoy (tolerate?) the attention of a new friend.
Isaiah Washington and new pal.

16. Don't people have more important things to worry about these days? War, illegal immigrants, forgotten hurricane victims, an entire coast laid to waste, abused kids, global warming...and you guys are worried about what some overpaid actor called another overpaid actor?

17. Tammy Lynn WHO???? Actress? Don't you mean UNKNOWN actress?
If it wasn't for Melissa, no one would know who the hell she is.
Give me a break. Another nobody looking for media attention.

19. Interesting that even our gay bretheren don't recognize the power of language. 30 years ago I could have called IW a n****r and gotten away with it. Today, I'd be fired instantly. (In fact, this comment would probably automatically be pulled if I filled in the asterisks.) I hope 30 years from now the same will be true for the word faggot, which is thrown around without a thought.

Truth be told, I don't care whether the word faggot lives in IW's heart. It lives in his mouth, and that's enough.

20. Wasn't this Tammy Lynn babe married to moron tv pitchman Jim Bakker? Her make-up sure makes her look like some no-talent actress married to a well-know lesbian named Melissa Manchester. Glad I figured that out. When did this Isaiah dude quit coaching basketball? Why the fuss? Just the other day, as I was leaving my favourite supermarket, the cashier said to me: "hey you....bag it!" I was not offended at all. I rest my case.

21. #19. She does not look for media attention. the media sought her out. Her blog has been on the Internet for two years now. It's just been recently that the trash magazines have found it and decided to borrow snippets from her blog to put them to use playing the public like they've done all you negative speakers here. You're all fools. You've been played. Tammy was in no way defending what IW said. She simply forgave his ignorance. Something that many people in this world could stand to learn. As Tammy put it in her latest blog if you bothered to read it...Forgiveness is NOT tolerance. But forgiveness does free a person of the negative influences so prevalent in this world today. I watch some of you people toss up your hate filled words, call her names to try and hurt her and I have to laugh because you have no idea how much your own negativities are pulling you down. If I know Tammy, she has forgiven you of all your nasty remarks and comments and her life is moving along, flowing freely and she is basking in the warmth and love of her family. How about you? How well is your own life flowing right now?

22. How ironic. If I were Melissa I would be so embarrassed by Tammy and her blog. Poetry=not.
Intelligent=not.
Attention seeking=most definitly.
She publishes this high school dribble on the freaking WORLD WIDE WEB and then whines because people are reading it and making comments about it. You are kidding me right?!!!
Melissa= class act.
Tammy=not so much.

23. I think the way people in here express their comments with all the name calling, shows more about the people posting in here than it does about either Tammy Etheridge or Isaiah Washington.
Bad language and name calling is not required to get your point across. It doesnt even help it. Only makes you seem un-educated.
While slurs of any kind should not be tolerated, people do tend to screw up from time to time.
Etheridge KNOWS Washington and that is more than the lot of you can say. You dont know either. She forgives him for using the slur (it's in her blog) but that doesnt mean that she APPROVES of him using it (that is also in her blog).

Abby called Tammy "retarded".
Abby, you can bet your ass that if you had been a famous celebrity, you would now have found yourself hauled in front of the media having to explain your comment in detail, and there would be fierce demands that you not only apologize to Mrs. Etheridge (which I think you should do in here anyway) but also to every mentally challenged inidividual in America and the organizations that support them.

And to the rest of you. If you are soo annoyed with Tammy Etheridge for exercizing her right to free speech and the form she does it in, why do you spend your precious life time seeking out her blog to read it???
Tammy has lots of fans who love her blog and love what she has to say. Your unkind comments are insignificant and wont in any way impact on the way we feel about her blogging.

24. Someone should give Washington an award. Closet cases want special rights. Why should closet cases be rewarded for their cowardice?

25. Way to go Tammy! In a world of cynicism and hate, you have found the ability to forgive and try to understand that we are all just humans - most of us hurting in some way - none of us perfect. I enjoy your blog. Your honesty is refreshing not just for a celebrity, but for a human being.

It is so sad to me that of all of the issues this country is dealing with right now, so many people choose to focus on this. If we are going to fight and get angry, let's fight for our right to marry! Let's fight for our rights to adopt here in the state of Florida! If you want to use your voice and anger, at least use it to do something productive - not just spew venom for the sake of hearing yourselves talk.

And for goodness sakes people! We need to stick together to fight for our rights - not attack each other over tabloid garbage!

26. Okay enough the man played a gay in one of his movies. Do we know why he said the word faggot we always asume that he just said it to be saying the word. Did anyone find out why he said the word out-loud? No, of course not because that would mean that maybe one of the cast members had said something to him negative and he responded in kind. Oh my bad McDreamy or what ever you call him or T.R. couldn't have possibly said anything out of the way to him, you people didn't get this crazy when Krammer said the word N----- 100 times, I didn't see anyone ask him to go to rehab, and what kind of rehab is there for f----uked words. As for him bringing it up at the award show, THE REPORTER ASKED HIM DID HE CALL HIM A FAGGOT AND HE TOLD HIM THE ANSWER. Stop being jackasses

27. Isaiah should have had more sense than what he showed.After all he most likely had to put up with racial slurs most of his life, and he should have remember how that felt.Some of your comments are sad.By using these words of hate you are all no better off.As far as T.R. , I feel his pain, but some things you just have to put behind you . If some one hurts you and apologizes, find it in your heart to accept it. If it happens again, then react, do what ever it takes .If leaving a hit show is it then do it. This ensamble is a winning cast. They should all try and get along and put it aside

28. I just hope the title of M.E.'s song "I Need To Wake Up" rings true for her own life. To raise up those poor little children to believe that lifestyle is ok is troubling to me. Just the fact that they had to get "the sperm of a man" to concieve them should tell them that it is not normal. So take a tip from your song M.E and WAKE UP. There's no gays in Heaven, YO!
Jesus loves you but hates your sin.

Romans:1:24-27
So God let these people go their own way. They did what they wanted to do, and their filthy thoughts made them do shameful things with their bodies.
They gave up the truth about God for a lie, and they worshiped God's creation instead of God, who will be praised forever. Amen.
God let them follow their own evil desires. Women no longer wanted to have sex in a natural way, and they did things with each other that were not natural.
Men behaved in the same way. They stopped wanting to have sex with women and had strong desires for sex with other men. They did shameful things with each other, and what has happened to them is punishment for their foolish deeds.

29. Yet again, more mean-spirited comments from the peanut gallery. It amazes me that so-called educated people can not express themselves without insulting others. It invalidates your point, But maybe I'm just dealing with children who do know better and just want to insult others without any consequences. Therapy, anyone????
