"Sex and the City" Star Boohoos for Barbaro

1/31/2007 2:18 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Kristin Davis has a soft spot for stiff horses.

The usually cheery actress, whose "Sex and the City" character loved her equine friends, was irate when asked about the death of Barbaro, the Kentucky Derby winner euthanized Monday after a long struggle with leg trouble since fracturing an ankle in the Preakness Stakes.

Davis was short with photogs, yelling, "I don't wanna talk about it, please, please!" before trotting away.

Celeb chef Mario Batali had more horse sense, calling the death "a tragedy."

Barbaro was a magnificent animal. Beautiful, with a cheerful disposition throughout his painful ordeal. Anyone who would make a joke at his tragic death is truly a piece of human sh*t.

In memory of Barbaro please contact your state's representatives and ask them to do all they can to stop the slaughter of thousands of horses for overseas consumption. The horses are transported insmall trailors in extreme heat and cold, sometimes up to 36 hours with no food or water. There is little, if any, regulation on this practice, so abuse is rampant. No horse deserves this type of inhumane treatment. Help bring this to an end.

Yummy missed his/her calling. Should have been a stand-up comedian. Did you think that one up all by your little old self? How clever you are. Share a bit more of your comic genious with us won't you? And when you're done perhaps you could do the world a favor and wrap your lips around a revolver. Moron

Down with stupid people!

Well this is more human like than the brandy comment section! TMZ that was a set up to get peps talking rudely to each other. Oh and the glue factory comment was all together the most intelligent thing I have seen written in years. Grow up! People were really hoping that this horse would pull through so he could be put to stud or pasture. The owners spent thousand and thousands of dollars to heal this horse and even in pain he was a champion. Such a sad thing to have watched! Kimberly thank you for your post. There is online petitions circulating and if anyone cares please look it up. Horses are a part of our history and racing them has been a past time for ever. These beloved creatures have assisted man in all sorts of ways, so lets show them the admiration they deserve, Thank you.

This woman is an insipid creature. That should explain it all. (She was almost as dreadful as Sarah Jessica Parker on SEX & THE CITY.0

Barbaro was actually luckily.

Most of these horses are slaughtered like pigs so the French & Japanese can eat them

The racing business is a dirty, criminal business. Organized crime. Drugs. A complete fraud

Check out https://community.hsus.org/campaign/FED_2007_horse_slaughter?qp_source=gabawj to contact your legislator to stop this

Kelsey (#15),
Please do your homework before supporting the ammendment to the Horse Protection Act. The slaughter aspect is just a pretty face for what it really is grandfathering in. Read the second part where it allows for 5 million dollars to regulate horse shows. That's what it's really about (like usual, the money). If this passes it's the end of the padded walking horse as we know is. This also affects saddlebreds and most all gaited horses. I cannot stress to you enough what a terrible bill this really is. Just do some research and see what's really behind it.

And Heather represents another kind of animal abuser

The hillbillies "soring" gaited horses

And BREAKING the tails of saddlebreds and setting them in braces so they re-heal in an up position

and shoving ginger paste up their rear ends to make them hold their tails up

Ands on and on and on

The cracker saddlebred world

Look up that insanity online, and they're as bad as the criminals running the horse racing

Time to move into the modern age, Heather. You and your pals are abusing horses

The rest of the horse world can't stand you "gaited horse" weirdos, Heather!

they don't care

(of course, you don't seem to care that your horses are being stolen to selkl to slaughter, either)

To make a buck or two??? It's ridiculous. So the next time you're about to go to a horse race ,bet on races or even support this "sport" in anyway (even watching the racing events on tv) think about all of this. Greed sucks, and if any of you think that horse racing is not all about money then you are in complete denial. These breeders make so much money your head would burst if you knew how much. Barbaro's sire's stud fee is $150k...and has tons of offspring (Dynaformer's offsping's earnings top the $60M mark). Also, may I bring to your attention that Barbaro's Dam will most likely be pregnant for half of her adult life...she's been bred countless times already and being that Barbaro was so beloved, you can count on her owners to keep breeding her and having her pound out mares every year from now on. Does any of this seem fair to you??? Extreme efforts as displayed for saving Barbaro's life wouldn't have been made for any other horse, had it not been a Kentucky Derby winner this past year and y'all know it! It's sad that most of you don't realize this and just look at Barbaro like "an athlete in their prime that was taken down too soon". I can't STAND all these comparisons between Barbaro and an athlete...WRONG! Athletes CHOOSE their profession knowing very well the consequences. Well, this beautiful horse never CHOSE this short life of being trained to run his ass off and ultimately paying the biggest sacrifice...and for whom? for anyone that contributes to horse racing and has earned one penny off of him. PLEASE DON'T SUPPORT THE HORSE RACING INDUSTRY!!!!!

Let's get to the real issue here - the horse racing industry is just plain cruel. thousands of horses who are bred that don't turn out to be "racing material", have nowhere to go, but to slaughter houses (including some past race winners), not to mention the thousands of horses that break their leg at races and even in training every year...and for what???? To make a buck or two??? It's ridiculous. So the next time you're about to go to a horse race ,bet on races or even support this "sport" in anyway (even watching the racing events on tv) think about all of this. Greed sucks, and if any of you think that horse racing is not all about money then you are in complete denial. These breeders make so much money your head would burst if you knew how much.
