Lindsay Opts Out of "No Importance"

In the wake of harsh criticism that Lindsay Lohan has not been taking her recovery seriously, TMZ has learned that Lindsay has decided not to star in the upcoming "A Woman of No Importance" so she can focus on getting better.

Lohan's publicist, Leslie Sloane Zelnik, tells TMZ that Lindsay is putting herself first and "decided not to push herself." Lohan, says Sloane, will be taking a few more months of downtime before she embarks on the press tour for the upcoming "Georgia Rule."

"Importance" is set to star Annette Bening. This is the second time Lohan has missed on an opportunity to work with the Oscar-nominated actress. Bening was originally cast as Lilo's mother in the hit "Freaky Friday," but had to bow out.

Lindsay is still slated for "The Best Time of Our Lives," shooting with Keira Knightley in London this spring.

16. I feel very sorry for Lindsay Lohan. With the two poor excuses she and her siblings have for parents, what else could be expected. Instead of hitting the clubs and parties with her daughter, maybe Dina should have been a better example for Lindsay. Now she is playing the indignant mother complaining that photographers are hounding her daughter. It seems that she is the one that thrives on publicity. Maybe Lindsay should have entered a lock down facility instead of being able to make random trips to the mall and restaurants where the photographers can easily find her and her publicity-starved mom.

17. Of course she was fired. For those that say she is just young and dumb etc.- remember she is paid millions for acting and showing up. She can stay dumb and young but she will be doing it on her own nickel not some corporation's money.

Stay tuned! She and her mother both see the approach of the Death Star ANNONYMITY and they know the big bucks are disappearing.

20. Savannah you are an idiot! She's not a child and she's empoyed in a business believe it or not... if she's too interesting in acting up and 'being young' she shouldnt be paid the millions to GO TO WORK like the rest of us do for a fraction of the price. She signed up to the industry she should take it seriously or go do something else for a living. We have the right to judge - she is the one putting herself out there for the world to see. I dont feel sorry for her at all.

22. Even if you never did drugs when you were young or whenever, you still can't judge because everyone has a different life and problems. So if you say i have never done drugs but this and that happened......well that doesn't make you better. It just means you never did drugs.

24. At a minimum Lohan should fire that idiot publicist, Leslie Sloane Zelnik, for being too dumb to see the irony of a statement like "Lindsay is putting herself first," given recent events. Amazingly stupid.

I have to agree that this is nothing but more spin (anyone else dizzy?). I think it's far more likely that the "No Importance" producers/insurance co. said thanks, but no thanks.
