Ryan O'Neal Arrested -- Shot Fired

Ryan O'neil

TMZ has obtained the mugshot of actor Ryan O'Neal, who was arrested Saturday morning at his Malibu home. He was booked on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and negligent discharge of a firearm after a fight with his son, Griffin. O'Neal was released after posting $50,000 bail.

Police tell TMZ that O'Neal, 65, fired at least one gunshot during the scuffle.

Cops say he was booked at the Lost Hills Sheriff's station without incident. He was released at 5:30 AM.

Sheriff's sources tell TMZ that a 22-year-old female friend of Griffin's was "inadvertently" injured at the scene and transported to a local hospital. Sources wouldn't confirm if the injury was a result of the gunshot.

The 42-year-old spent 18 days in jail for not performing the community service ordered by a judge who found him guilty of reckless boating in a 1986 accident that killed the son of film director Francis Ford Coppola.

Griffin also has a history of substance abuse. He pleaded no contest to a drunken driving charge in 1989. In 1992, he agreed to spend one year in a live-in drug rehabilitation program after pleading no contest to charges he shot at his estranged girlfriend's unoccupied car.

76. #70. Who's living their lives in public. I mean, when's the last time you heard about Ryan or Farrah when it didn't involve disease or trouble? And besides, I'm sure there's lot's of families who settle their diffences with fistfights and guns who don't get in the news. NOT!

78. Rebecca DeMornay is married to Patrick O'Neil, the sportscaster, not Griffin Patrick O'Neil (Ryan's son).

80. 7. How sad. He has 2 sons. The older son was sent to a military academy because he was out-of-control. The younger was a heroin addict. If the son is who I think it is then I recall Ryan spent a lot of time, money and tears trying to help him. How sad that things ended up this way after Ryan's battle with cancer. Can you imagine, a young man attacking a cancer victim who had to resort to self-defense with a deadly weapon. Not worth a criminal record folks. Just let your kid go. I know of one family that just moved with no forwarding information to escape from a bad kid.

Hey MG-
O'NEAL has 3 sons, not 2.
Besides son GRIFFIN whom he fathered with actress JOANNA MOORE, and REDMOND who was a product of his relationship with FARRAH FAWCETT,
there is also a son named PATRICK whose mother is actress
LEIGH TAYLOR-YOUNG. I think that PATRICK is close to 40 years old. He is the ONLY one of RYAN'S children who has not had 'troubles'.

I was surprised by this latest upset. I thought that this kind of sh*t was in the family's past. Silly me.

WTF are you trying to say?
On the one hand you say,"Untill we know the whole story lets keep our opinions to ourselfs." Then the rest of the post is YOUR OPINION, with a trip down memory lane.
Q: Who died and made you the bloody Queen of all media?
dumbass

Posted at 6:21AM on Feb 5th 2007 by Hey dumbass, YEAH YOU!

83. Isn't it odd how celebrities are treated above the law? O'neal fired a gun and may have injured a woman, yet he is released on bail. Does anyone think any other citizen would receive such special treatment? This is another way that the average American's rights are being violated by the gov't.
They violate the 1st Amendment by opening mail, caging demonstrators and banning books like "America Deceived" from Amazon.
They violate the 2nd Amendment by confiscating guns during Katrina.
They violate the 4th Amendment by conducting warrant-less wiretaps.
They violate the 5th and 6th Amendment by suspending habeas corpus.
They violate the 8th Amendment by torturing.
They violate the entire Constitution by starting 2 illegal wars based on lies and on behalf of a foriegn gov't.
O'neal should not receive special treatment due to his 'celebrity' status.

84. Griffin was, no doubt, at his dad's to mooch money....again! I have feeling he was asked to leave nicely. Had he left, or not shown up at all, nothing would have happened!

85. I dont think Ryan is father of the year ( or day) Tatum was on dope at 13, Griffin was driving a speedboat with his friend who was a son of Francis Ford Cappola and crashed and his friend died. Every time we read about Redmond he has f*cked up in some way , and Farrah get sick- and hes there for her. I mean, you know thats nice but he had no time with his own kids and THEIR issues. Sorry for all of them.Peace and Love : )

87. And I should care about these clowns, why ????????

88. WOW! I never knew one of Ryan O'Neal's kids was responsible for the death of one of Francis Ford Copolla's kids. I guess that's proof though that not all Italians have links to the mob because if Coppola did they would have wiped Griffin out in retaliation. I remember that news story about a neighbor who accidentally ran over and killed his neighbors kid. It was totally the kid's fault and the guy was not charged but the mob killed him off a short time later.

89. This story contains both family tragedy, turmoil and a bit of the absurd. Son Griffin who should have been convicted of manslaughter in a boating accident years ago is still a borderline lunatic after all these years. Moreover, that little half-pint now in his 40's still can't defeat his "old man" mano a mano, an overweight pudgy man in his mid-sixties who is in remission from leukemia and bears little resemblance to any heavyweight champion boxer.

This is a case of a wimp vs. a blimp.

90. Obviously Ryan's son has some issues. Before we start juding Ryan, perhaps we should examine Griffin's past. I am a single mother of 4 grown children. Let me tell you it is no easy business. And just when you think it will be easier because they are grown up, reality punches you in the face. It's worse. Good luck Ryan. My thoughts and prayers are sinserely with you.
