Charlize Sued for Not Wearing Weil Bling

Charlize TheronCharlize Theron has been sued by Swiss watchmaker Raymond Weil for breach of contract. The company claims that the actress broke her contractual obligation to wear only Weil watches in public. The suit was filed in New York County Court today.

Oscar-winner Theron signed on to be the worldwide spokesperson for the venerable watchmaker back in 2005. "Charlize is the perfect Ambassador for our timepieces," said Olivier Bernheim, Raymond Weil's CEO at the time. Theron also works as a spokesmodel for Dior fragrances.

Reps for Theron and Weil could not be reached for comment.

16. I am so glad that we have these people trash talking US, I am sure they would have got a better deal in Cuba, or France, maybe even the communist China.
If we had more freedom, maybe she would made more money in the US. Somebody should let her know, that our country is the greatest in the world, that is why people are flocking here, to have their pregnant wives give birth so they can get on our citizenship system, that hard working born Americans are paying for, by the way, this is why we are running out money. Illegal aliens don't pay taxes, but they are getting treated like royalty, compared to where they came from. There is no such allowance anywhere else in the World. Maybe she wants to be Cuban, with dark hair an all.

17. This TMZ is all crap anyway. Yet another dumb blonde who doesn't understand what she reads and signs. If it says "You must wear our watches at every public Appearance." that means you must wear the watches, it's that simple. That's why she accepted the money for that gig. She does not get to say "I'll wear the one granny gave me." She can do that when she goes to walk the dog or out to dinner with friends or whatever. And no, she does not get to change her mind because she is female. Gender is not an entitlement. Heaven forbid we ever elect a female president, I can hear this argument coming up.

18. I am so sick of these Hollywood "know it alls" shooting off their mouths about things that they know nothing about in other countries that I wish they would just move the hell out of the country.
If this idiot Charleze thinks that Cuba has more or equivalent freedoms that rival what we in the US have then she needs to sell her house and property and move her spoiled hollywood ass to Cuba!
As a matter of fact I wish she would take the rest of the Hollywood left leaning Marxists airheads with her!

19. Well....she could always go back to South Africa if things are so unseemly here. In fact, why doesn't she address South African issues with racism if she feels the need to 'critique' the system?

20. I totally disagree with the actress on her comments about the United States. For one thing, Women here have more freedom than any other country in this world. But, and there is always a but, why is it when you make a negative comment about the United States you are viewed as being against this country. I thought we were about freedom of speech.

We are not perfect and we do have a lot of negative history, but that is no reason to jump down someone's throat the way the reporter did.

That is my say!

21. She doesn't realize that in some countries they would put her skinny ass in jail, rape her and then sell her to some sex slave organization, just for making the comments that she made, as a matter of fact, no body would even hear her comments, because it would not be allowed to be published. Oh I believe on of those countries is Cuba. compare that to US smelly cat.

22. She is a great actress. totally deserved the oscar for Monster. we are slowly losing our rights in America a little at a time and someday people are going to wake up and say what happened. What happened? no one speaks up. Dan Rather lost his job because of the Bush report. he didnt write it. they wanted him to appologize to the President. What about Bush appogizing to the American people for lying to them about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? who cares what watch she wears.

23. Charlize Theron is beautiful and extremely talented but I despised her anti-American comments. She compared America to Cuba. That is outrageous. These celebs need to keep their mouths shut and just do what they're paid to do - act. They don't have the intelligence to comment on politics or anything other than their latest movie.

24. Wow. This is nuts. First of all, Sanchez was bullying her. He's acting like he's reasonable and she's an idiot; he puts words in her mouth that trivialize the point she was making, and then has the nerve to use/abuse the interview with commentary to make her look bad. First of all, like many stupid Americans, he's trying to pretend that America has no oppression, while the media is being controlled by right-wing fanatics, while same-sex couples who love each other are denied the right to get married, while working-class Americans have to take multiple jobs to feed their family and CEO's make hundreds of millions of dollars, while fundamental fanatics try to impose their narrow morality on the media and the rights and wishes of hundreds of millions of people, while people trying to resist war and killing are vilified for their opinions. One of the most insidious problems with our country is that no one wants to be accountable for their own narrowness and cruelty. "You're with us or against us" mentality is SO destructive on every level of society, adn the rich get richer and the poor struggle harder. And let's talk for a second here about the people posting comments here whose argument is "Charlize is a dumb blonde." Come on, people. That argument doesn't even hold water among ten-year-olds on a playground. And yes, how terrible and stupid for a wealthy successful actress to use her star power to make a documentary revealing oppressed people! Just awful, isn't it? How dare you all, you nasty bullies! And Rick Sanchez - the worst bully of them all, tearing her apart for not agreeing with his shallow interpretations that are steeped in denial. And how dare the people who decided to post this on AOL.

26. you know Sharon, you are right, it is the politicians that have done this, but its not all Republicans, Democrats have made our country so hateful in the eyes of other countries for political reasons, however the immigrants are using this political battle to infest our country with immigrants who have learned the secret on how to feed off of the US at the cost true Americans who build this country, and they depend on ignorant Americans to support them to get further. You are right, we can't say anything about Gays, Blacks, Jewish, Orientals, because they use this to sue our asses, they are not offended, don't worry about their feelings. I say if they are offended then they can go back to their country. I don't mind people coming to US if they really want freedom, but they are the ones who are prohibiting us and taking away our rights. Americans are the most generous and loving people, that is why we have so many immigrants. however they bank on people like you who believe in CNN, the celebrities, and whatever you read. Don't be ignorant, your Grandparents who fought for this country can't get free health care, but an illegal immigrant can. Watch out America, the border wall will not stop this, they are coming from everywhere, we need to change the citizenship laws to stop this madness.

28. If she signed an exclusive contract to wear Mr. Weil's watch in public then she should abide by the contract. Weil watch or not, I'd bang her.

Does anyone know if Anna Nicole Smith had such a contract and if so does she get buried wearing one of Mr. Weil's watches? Will Mr. Blackwell be commenting on what Anna was buried in?

29. Ms. Theron is an articulate, educated, very talented actor (actress for those non-PC folks). Her interview with the CNN correspondent was very uncharacteristic of her. She may have misinterpreted something said or perhaps was emotionally distressed that day. But, yes, that was an error of judgement. Her display certainly lacked her normal classiness and grace. As far as the Weil watch controversy, we simply have too few facts to really make any determination here. Superficially, it appears she may be in breach of contract. But we haven't seen the contract and its subclauses, etc. We haven't been privy to the true facts of the case and whether or not Ms. Theron truly wore another brand or, as one comment stated, a family heirloom. These are all relevant and necessary factors to be considered before we pass judgement here. By some of the comments posted, it is apparent that many of the posters easily surpass the classlessness Ms. Theron supposedly exudes. There are some truly ugly, angry, thoughtless people out to get someone they don't even know over facts they have yet to obtain. That's pretty base indeed. You have no moral basis to throw stones when your tirades are tenfold more crude than anything Charlize has ever uttered.

30. You know..is she even an American Citizen? Well anyway, this is about a watch. She made a legal agreement and then broke it. So..it doesn't matter? Okay, well, I am going to refuse to pay my car payments and when they take my car away...I hope some of you will defend me calling me "too dumb to make my payment" and I hope some of you will say.."who cares.." I like this system of no responsibility some of you are praising. Yes, I sign contracts, but to hell with them! I can make excuses as well. And for the negative comments on the US...she does have the right to make them and I will defend her rights to make them...I also have the right to say ...."What an incredibly idiotic woman...holy crap...The US is like Cuba? Hmmmm. So those Cuban's who want to come to the US need to be informed that they REALLY don't want to be here because they will not have rights. She is an idiot."
