Charlize Sued for Not Wearing Weil Bling

Charlize TheronCharlize Theron has been sued by Swiss watchmaker Raymond Weil for breach of contract. The company claims that the actress broke her contractual obligation to wear only Weil watches in public. The suit was filed in New York County Court today.

Oscar-winner Theron signed on to be the worldwide spokesperson for the venerable watchmaker back in 2005. "Charlize is the perfect Ambassador for our timepieces," said Olivier Bernheim, Raymond Weil's CEO at the time. Theron also works as a spokesmodel for Dior fragrances.

Reps for Theron and Weil could not be reached for comment.

Story developing.

31. Well she's not exactly the "sharpest knife in the drawer". Watch the clip with Rick Sanchez. She TRIES to make some intelligent comments about the state of affairs in this country and Cuba, then can't back up anything she says, then has to end it with "I want to make out with you"...........I would have respected her more if she just ended it with "can we change the subject?".
How embarrassing for her. Stick to the movie making!! Leave the important stuff to everyone else!!

32. Charlize is an actress - therefore what does she know of the real world...she is fed lines and repeats them. Her not wearing the Weil Watch was probably a mistake of her dresser - the dresser should have reminded her of which watch she should wear...after all she only does what someone else tells her to do..after all she is an actress - what sense does she have - probably NONE....LOL

33. CHARLEZE THERON IS NEITHER DUMB NOR BLOND (EVERHEARD OF LOREAL OR PROFESSIONAL HAIR DRESSERS TO THE STARS?) SHE WAS A VERY TALENTED BALLERINA, AND A MODEL BEFORE SHE BECAME AN ACTOR, AND SHE'S AN OSCCAR WINNER. HER TALENT WAS QUITE OBVIOUS IN THE MOVIE "THE DEVIL'S ADVCATE." YOU'RE ALL MAKING HER SOUND LIKE SOME LOW LIFE BLOND PORN STAR OR SOME PARIS HILTON DUFUS. THIS SMELLS LIKE TEEN JEALOUSY. YOU'RE NOT HER -- YA UGLY GIMPS HA! HA! HA! SO TOUGH.

HOW EMBARRASSING FOR ME, YOU AND THE REST OF US FOR EVEN CARING ABOUT MISS THERON'S FAUX PAW, AND BREACH OF CONTRACT. SHE'S A BRIGHT TALENTED ARTIST, DANCER, AND ACTOR. NOT SOME POLITICAL TALKING HEAD LIKE HANNITY AND KOLMBS (sp?). NOR IS SHE JANE FONDA THE TREASONOUS WRETCH.

35. After watching the CNN clip, looks to me like "Charlie Tilton" is just another overpaid anti-American Hollywood snob.

First off, "hip hop" is not a culture or a language; it's a fad, plain and simple. And to the extent you can argue otherwise, hip hop is the culture and language of CRIME, plain and simple.

Secondly, the fact that some "Hollywood stars" were canned because of their anti-American remarks does not mean there is somehow a lack of freedom in the US -- it means they lost money for their employers.

Third-wise, Tilton's "make out" remark on CNN was a cheap and quite haughty attempt to evade explaning her anti-American sentiments.

37. Actors in general are way overpaid. Such is the case with Charlize Theron. She was paid a boatload to promote and endorse RW Swiss watches. It's her job, it was a signed and sealed contract, and she breached the contract. She's at fault, period.

38. Jane Halvorson --
When did you have time for that world tour where you observed 6 billion people and determined that Theron and Reeves were the most beautiful. Idiot.

39. Hmm, those smart Swiss... I suppose they got publicity signing the contract, maybe got to meet her in person for photo ops, publicity when she wore their watches, now more publicity suing her for breach of contract, and when/if they win the suit, they get their money back as well, and even more publicity at the verdict whether they win or lose! WOW!
That's an even better deal than for the car repair people that offer "pro-rata" guarantees on their tires, batteries and brakes!!! Who else does/did her agent represent?

40. I am so glad that we have these people trash talking US, I am sure they would have got a better deal in Cuba, or France, maybe even the communist China.
If we had more freedom, maybe she would made more money in the US. Somebody should let her know, that our country is the greatest in the world, that is why people are flocking here, to have their pregnant wives give birth so they can get on our citizenship system, that hard working born Americans are paying for, by the way, this is why we are running out money. Illegal aliens don't pay taxes, but they are getting treated like royalty, compared to where they came from. There is no such allowance anywhere else in the World. Maybe she wants to be Cuban, with dark hair an all.

41. She should, perhaps, go back to South Africa where she came from seeing as the USA is so restricted...after all, she has money and choices, she can go anywhere. If it's so bad here in America why is she here making her fortune and not somewhere else?

42. Hey, Ray baby! So you think that Charlize hurt your Weil Watch Company by not wearing a Weil watch, huh? Well, guess what? You ain't seen nothing yet Ray! Your off the wall, nasty comments and criticism of Charlize is gonna hurt your company BIG TIME! Use your head Ray, you're a grown man, and not in kindergarten anymore. Play with the Big Boys, and keep your trap Shut!! "Time will Tell"!!

43. Finally! How refreshing to hear and see a celebrity who speaks the greater truth. Are you all suffering from some form of the Stockholm Syndrome? Moreover, why should she be attacked for debating a real issue? She did not denounce the USA, just some of the more ridiculous protocols that rob us of personal freedoms under the guise of national or community interest.
How sad that the very kind of free thinking and self expression that is enjoyed here and on all other similar sites came about by the efforts of many people who did speak out in the 60s, laying the foundation then, Yet, now, the same approach is attacked as unAmerican. We do share the same restrictions as Cuba, Iraq, and many other Dictatorships. It's just marvelously veiled. Most are kept happy by things they can buy and freedom of movement, but when the chips are down..this Government will always win...regardless. Those of you reading this, who are under 55, have no idea what America really was. Worse you have no idea how far they have gone in attempts to qwell the teeming throngs. We have been legislated into a very luxurious, (but none-the-less) box. Good for you, Ms Theron, Good for you!

44. It's so very clear -she made an agreement to wear the Weil watches and broke the contract. She is in breach of contract and must make amends.

45. LOL. Who was that up there who thought Raymond Weil is still a sole proprietorship? It may have been back in 1976 but is now a large company as Level Headed stated with a full staff of highly-paid attorneys who will not hesitate to take someone to court should they be in breach of contract. Somehow I doubt that those lawyers will care much whether "she is s woman for God's sake, she is entitleD to change her mind and mic it up a bit." They'll come after her with cold accuracy to get as much back from the $20M deal as they can.
