Ryan's Lawyer -- Griffin Beat Ryan's Ass

UPDATE: TMZ has learned the L.A. County Sheriff's Department has referred Ryan O'Neal's arrest file to the L.A. County District Attorney for review. The D.A. must now decide whether to file charges against the actor.

Ryan O'Neal's attorney claims that Griffin O'Neal consumed alcohol just before the now-infamous brawl with his dad, "which could have contributed to his violent outburst."

In a news conference that ended just minutes ago, Ryan's lawyer, Mark Werksman, said that the actor "fired a shot in warning, not in anger" during the fight at Ryan's Malibu home Saturday.

Werksman says Ryan had been out celebrating Farrah Fawcett's 60th birthday, and when he came home, Griffin was there. Ryan asked Griffin to leave and Werksman says that's when Griffin went off.

Werksman says Griffin was the aggressor and Ryan "got the worst of it," adding that Ryan "was thrown to the ground and beaten." Werksman says Griffin beat his dad with a fire poker and Ryan suffered bruises on his arms and legs.

"Ryan will be completely vindicated and exonerated," Werksman added.

16. The whole lot aren't exactly a model family, and Farrah isn't exactly a classical actress by any stretch of the imagination.

Ryan brought his troubles upon himself by choices he made in the past. Much like Griffin living in denial (among other far flung unrealistic places).

It says alot, even with the bias going towards women in the western family law system when Tatum doesn't have automatic residential custodial rights to her kids, even with all the dosh she has made.

And when it comes ot Farrah, my seeing her in California City lo these many decades ago, besides Elaine Boozler's comments on Farrah ("Farrah awake," (preens), "Farrah asleep," (same face), "Farrah on drugs," (again, same face. No change)) her personality isn't exactly.....genuine.

Misery loves company and this is one definitive example.

17. Look, you have to review the history of Griffin to see how they got to this point. Ryan was a drunken brawler from way back. Ask any photographer from the 70's or early 80's. He knocked out Griffin's front teeth when he was a teenager. That's only the abuse that was made public. You don't have one kid a recovering heroin addict and one kid who can't grow up without having royally screwed them up yourself. Being violent, drunk, verbally and physically abusive and bringing home different "Aunties" every weekend does not produce a healthy upbringing and will not provide a person the tools needed to lead normal, sane lives. If Griffin had been a teenager in the 90's or later, Ryan would have done jail time for knocking out his teeth. I doubt that Ryan got the worst of anything this time. He was probably playing I'm more macho that you headgames with his son and off they went. If Griffin has any hope of saving what's left of his life he needs to cut Ryan out of his life completely and get some more therapy. Any relationship with his father will keep him acting like a child and continue his self-destructive behaviour. Don't let anyone tell you that you have to love and respect an abuse horrible father just because you were unlucky enough to be born to the woman he knocked up. If not he will end up dead before fifty. One way or another.

18. Get off this web page then, Shemyasteve. It's for comments about the featured story/pic above. You don't come on a site that exists to give a forum to readers to comment on and then comment yourself; not on the featured story (that would be too normal) but repeatedly saying 'who cares, who cares, sqwauk, who cares'. Give your head a shake, and go somewhere else and say who cares if you can find someone who cares enough to listen.
