Police: No Illegal Drugs Found in Anna's Room

Only prescription -- and not illegal drugs -- were found during an investigation of Anna Nicole Smith's room at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel, this according to Seminole Police Chief Charlie Tiger.

At a press conference outside the Broward County Medical Examiner's office, Tiger revealed that "No evidence has been revealed to suggest that a crime has occurred," and that sworn statements were taken from everyone involved.

While authorities were unable to identify an official cause of death, Broward County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Joshua Perper suggested that the death might be due to either natural causes, medication, or a combination of natural causes and medication.

Perper was able to rule out several speculated causes of death, such as blunt force trauma, gunshot wounds or asphyxia, meaning she did not suffocate to death on her own vomit.

Perper revealed that a small amount of blood was found in Anna's stomach, which he says is a result of the terminal shock Smith experienced before she died. He also said that no pills or tablets were found in her stomach.

Perper also acknowledged the need for Anna's DNA (due to the ongoing paternity dispute) and said a "large sample" was taken.

According to Perper, an official cause of death would be determined in 3 to 5 weeks.

34. Didn't they say that the prescription drugs were in Howard's name? And that methadone was one of them? I think if it is found that Anna died partly from a methadone reaction/overdose, Howard's going to have a lot of explaining to do...

And I for one couldn't care less if illegal drugs were flushed or not. If they contributed to her death, they will show up in the toxicology report.

Weren't they just stating who was staying at the hotel or in the room with her? I don't believe they said he was with her at the time. Anyone else?

40. They had PLENTY of time to remove drugs, or anything else from that room before EMS arrived. The cause of her death is not readily determined as a natural biological process, so what does that leave? Liquid methadone wouldn't leave any indications without toxicalogical findings. The sheriff ran off rather quickly when the question of Howard k Strens whereabouts came into question!

42. Disgusting that Howard was able to pull another murder off without being caught.... May Anna and Daniel be at peace, and let them watch over poor Danielynn.. its a very sad tale of a *beautiful mess*

43. I think that it is really sad and I hope that she is at peace now. The media is partly blame because celebrities have no privacy whatsoever. The hound the poor woman to death about everything she did. And just to think that on ET that she said that she was just tired....big key that she no longer wanted to be here and fight. I cannot see why she would need a nurse if the nurse did not even try to help her but instead call the front desk. There are a lot of unanswered question and I am very curious about the whole situation. Now they will fight over the baby. I cannot personally say who is good for the baby because everyone seems to have a motive. And her mom is just disgusting. Her daughter just died and all she can do is make negative comments. I don't want her to get the baby either. I truly feel they knew she was dead and then once they knew for sure, that is when they called for help. It is said but it is also a reality check just on how the celebs do need their privacy respected. They are human too.

45. She had been sick with the flu. Maybe she got some kind of toxic shock. She is with her son now. She was heartbroken over his death.
