Tug of War Over Anna's Body

TMZ has learned that a fight is brewing over Anna Nicole's lifeless body lying in a Florida morgue.

Sources tell TMZ that Anna's mother, Virgie Arthur, wants to claim her daughter's body as soon as possible, paving the way for a proper burial. But Anna's mother, TMZ has learned, is not the only one who wants to claim the former Playmate's body.

We're told Anna's people have contacted Larry Birkhead's reps and tried to bargain. You see, Birkhead has a legal hold on the body per a Los Angeles Judge. If Birkhead releases that hold, Anna's reps promise to give him a sample of her DNA. But here's the catch: Anna's reps have not agreed to give Birkhead a DNA sample of the baby.

Even if Birkhead strikes a deal, it's unlikely Stern could claim the body since he had no legal relationship with Anna -- they were never married. It would seem that in this battle, Anna's mother has the upper hand.

23. How do you know how she REALLY felt about her mother? Her sneaky lawyer friend could have been telling her to say those things. I hope Larry Birkhead is the father....which he probably is......Howard Stern was paid over 1 million dollars not less than 24 hours after Annas death so cameras could follow him and be there on his trip back to the bahamas to put LARRY BIRKHEADS baby into hiding. WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND during this kind of grieving would do that? Howard stern thats who. He knows this baby is his gravy train and he will MILK it for all its worth. Because when Larry Birkhead is proved he IS THE FATHER then there will be no spotlight for Howard Stern, he will be a nobody.

27. Oh for God's sake.....she LOVED HKS...let her Rest In Peace and let him have her....Anna did not want anything to do wtih he mother...why give Anna to her? I'd come back and Haunt anyone that signed me over to someone I didn't want anything to do with...HKS can't do any harm to Anna now...let him at lest bury her...and go on....the legal system will work the rest out....

29. HKS will want the remains, so he can charge admission to her wake and funeral. Maybe ET will cover that, too. And we will watch, just out of morbid curiosity. It's like rubbernecking a car crash. I have been captivated by the situation, and all of the twists and turns. The baby will be paraded around for the media for the rest of her life, poor child. And we will watch. HKS kept ANS doped up for his own personal gain. How sad. And he will exploit the situation for as long as he can...
