Britney Checks Into Rehab - Out a Day Later

TMZ has learned that while Britney Spears checked-in to rehab, she refused to stay and checked out -- less than twenty-four hours later!

As "EXTRA" first reported, the pop star entered a rehab facility two days ago. Now TMZ has learned that the center was located outside of the country, and she refused to stay. PEOPLE confirms that Brit was at Eric Clapton's Crossroads rehab facility in Antigua.

TMZ is told that Britney checked in at the urging of friends and family, after being seen intoxicated in public places and was so "exhausted" on New Year's Eve she collapsed.

According to TMZ sources, Britney is on her way back to Los Angeles.

A rep for Britney could not immediately be reached for comment.

14. Hmmm. This controversy reminds me of the controversy today over
whether Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane should reprise their roles
in "The Producers" this spring for six weeks at $200,000 per week
before the show closes.Apparently Nathan wants to but Matthew doesn't
because he isn't sure they would sell out the house. What I think
Matthew should do is commit to a four-week reprisal and give all of
his earnings from that -- $800,000 -- to a charity such as
www.CreateSomethingGood.org . And he should get the producers of "The
Producers" to commit to giving 10% of the box office to charity. A
charitible gesture such as this would ensure the house is sold out,
and if Mr. Broderick enjoys acting -- which he seems to -- then there
is no reason he should not do this, especially if he can use it to
raise $1 million for a charity of his choosing. This is how people
become legends and role models to a new generation.Perhaps the
producers of "The Producers" can get Bill and Melinda Gates of the
Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to set up a matching grant to
whatever charity is chosen, so that the effect is multiplied. A month
is a fairly short amount of time, especially a month spent in New York
in Spring.
