Britney Spears Lawyers Up

Britney Spears has lawyered up again -- this time, she met with the lawyer who represented Mel Gibson in his DUI case.

Sources say Spears -- wearing a blonde wig -- went this morning to meet with Blair Berk, a prominent criminal defense lawyer whose roster of clients includes Lindsay Lohan, Halle Berry, Tracy Morgan and others.

We do not know why Spears chose to meet with Berk, although it's unlikely it has anything to do with her divorce. In her divorce case, Spears is repped by disso-queen Laura Wasser.

Spears could have met with Berk on a civil matter, as Berk handles both civil and criminal matters. Interestingly, Berk once repped Reese Witherspoon in her battle with hard-driving paparazzi. It's possible Spears went to Berk for similar reasons.

91. and so once again the media devotes endless amounts of time to reporting on a spoiled brat ! I am soo glad my daughter is grown and I don't have to parent a young girl in this day and age. What with Britney, Paris, Lindsey etc... young girls have some awful "role" models. I just hope there isn't a bunch of young girls going around shaving their heads cause "Brit did it". Such a shame.... the public gives these girls the power to do what they do buy making them sex symbols and stars when they are too young to handle it and then when they have too much money, power and fame, we wonder why they flip out
or.... is this a publicity stunt ???

92. I have great concern for the children, but VERY little for Britney. She's an adult, so she can't be forced into rehab (or a psych ward) unless someone does a "Baker Act" on her. Problem there is that it's only good for 72 hours without one of the attending doctors stating that she's a harm to herself or others. That takes a lot because of the liability incurred should they be sued once the person gets out. Since she has the money to hire the best "sharks" in the business, I doubt if anyone would keep her for longer without some kind of assurances. So, can they force her into therapy? Yes, but without some REAL legal muscle, it would only be for the 3 days. NOT much better than the single days she's already spent in 2 of them, definitely not anywhere near long enough to BEGIN any therapies, much less have any lasting effects . As an adult, there's not much to be done for her. Kevin may be a louse, but, at least, he's a sane one and must legally be given the benefit of the doubt. Should he pull a "Britney" and virtually abandon the children, then there's the relatives and foster care.

94. By the way, who's the idiot dink that picked her up? Evidently one of her "friends" or "fans" who care SO MUCH for her and think they're right and society and her own mother are wrong. With friends like that, who needs to cut their own throats?

95. She calls herself a MOM. She shouldn't be a MOM. What MOM goes out partying all night when she has two children at home. I hope K-Fed get full custody of his Children.

96. Hey # 61 & 65. You can be committed if you say you wish to harm yourself or others but ONLY FOR 72 HOURS. After that if you're an adult and you are not a threat to yourself or others then you are released.

99. The truth's just out. Britney's mother is working WITH Kevin to take the children away from her. So much for the words of denial from the caring "fans" and "friends". Puts a new light on things, doesn't it.

104. I think she is seriously depressed. I heard divorce is depressing. I bet she feels empty and alone, and feels horrible for feeling that way because she has children she loves very much and doesn't exactly know how to get out of the funk she is in without treatment wich she obviously doesn't want.

105. It's easy to mean. Compassion requires a little something more.
