Simon: "I'm Not Indulgent" -- Oh, Really?

On "American Idol" last night, Simon remarked how he "wasn't indulgent." What do you call driving around in a $150,000 car? Practical?

Talent judge Simon Cowell took girlfriend Terri Seymour out for a spin in a brand new Ferrari yesterday afternoon in Beverly Hills. On last night's "Idol," Simon called hopeful Nicole Tranquillo "self-indulgent," and Ryan Seacrest shot back, "That's the pot calling the kettle black."

"I'm not indulgent," sniffed Cowell, to the sneers of Randy and Paula. Results tonight.

17. Simon tells the truth. Am an experienced vocalist, and he was referring to her performance. She was riffing perhaps beyond her capability, doin' the star thing without quite the whole vocal engine to back it up. Indulging in that particular song choice and overdecorating it without quite the skill of its' original performer. That's all. Sometimes less is more when singing a song; a really good vocalist can just sing it, straight and true, and may the hairs stand up on the back of your neck based on the voice, it's tone, range, and quality alone. What the h_ll does her indulgent song choice/performance have to do with Simon enjoying a nice car because he's bloody earned it??? Apples and oranges.

18. That is an F430 spider, you can't touch one for less than $300k used. That's much more than $150k.

19. Who cares? He can afford to be self indulgent. He already has a career.

20. Actually that is a new Ferrari F430 Spyder with an MSRP of just under $200K. There is a very long waiting list for these cars + major premiums are being added by Ferrari dealers for brand new cars amounting to as much as $50K over sticker in order to get one right away. The value of this particular vehicle is closer to $250K than $150K, as if it really makes any difference. Simon should have bought a (pre-owned) Enzo instead for $1M+ or a Bugatti Veyron 16.4 for a mere half million dollars more if he really wanted to be truly "indulgent". The cost for this car is nothing but petty cash to him.

21. If you make $40,000 a year and you buy a $20,000 car are you self indulgent???

Simon makes around 20 million per year so a $300,000 car isn't indulgent.

22. In show business with a bunch of glob on's like that tiny dick seacrest it is refreshing to see someone keep it real like Simon. Who cares if he bought an expensive car? What good is having all that money if you don't splurge like anyone with is wealth would do. Seacrest is looking a little green.

23. I have tickets to AI tonight. I love Simon. Simon loves me. I am his girl.

24. I wouldn't watch American Idol if Simon wasn't a judge. He makes that show watchable. I also tend to agree with most of his analysis. Paula loves everybody and Randy is a fixture.

25. Honestly, I love Simon. He is the only honest judge on that show. His ability to pick talent is uncanny. Rarely is he wrong about the singers. While Randy keeps doin' his "yo dog!" schtick and Paula keeps getting high and silly, Simon at least does his job. Paula and Randy don't seem to like to tell people they're no good, so Simon has to be the "bad guy". Personally, I admire his candor. A lot of these people who are performing on Idol are quite hopeless, and they should be told that they can't sing instead of giving them false hope. So he drives a 150K car. I think he's earned most of his bread, unlike a lot of people in the entertainment industry, who have no discernible talent other than being tabloid fodder (Lohan, Spears). But then, those people keep tmz employed, so there's something to be grateful for.

26. This is NOT a $150k car. It is a $300k + car.

27. For all the airheads out there....the back and forth barbs by Seacrest and Cowell are ALL PLANNED. The show is scripted to create this tension so morons like yourself buy into it and tune in. They hope it works cuz the ratings are below last years.

But, it's really fun to read what you tools write.

28. He called the girl self indulgent in her choice of song that she did not sing well. Seacraps is not going to get any pussy from the girls on the show so he should keep his snarky remarks to himself. Everytime he tries to tangle with Simon he ends up looking like a spoiled little boy who took his ball and went home.

29. I am sorry I made fun of everyone. I have no life and need to insult people I have never met before to bolster my lack of self esteem. I wouldn't have the balls to insult you to your face, so I sit behind my computer like a coward and insult you. Sorry again for my rude behavior! I am a total loser!

30. Simon bought a fancy car? This is news? Most anyone would buy a car like that if they could afford it.
