Paris' Mom is a Grammar Queen

2/25/2007 5:07 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Paris Hilton celebrated her 26th birthday -- again -- last night with her friends, family and a whole pack of paparazzi.

After rocking out in Vegas last week on her actual birthday, Paris dined with the likes of Nicole Richie, Courtney Love and Paula Abdul at The Prime Grill. The party then moved to Hilton's home, where a decidedly less glamorous crowd gathered to party. "Celebs" in attendance included "90210" turned "Dancing with the Stars" stud Ian Ziering (BTW- that guy is 42 years old, almost twice as old as the birthday babe), "Napoleon Dynamite" sidekick Efren Ramirez, both Greasy and Gummi Bear and one of Hugh Hefner's three girlfriends. Hilton's publicist Elliot Mintz was there as well, showing up with one of the worst-wrapped gifts in birthday history.

One wild fan also showed up, going crazy over Paris' mom Kathy, screaming, "Your daughter's my idol dude!" and "take a picture of me and her" at the Hilton matriarch. Kathy quickly put the Paris-ite in her place though, correcting her grammar like a middle school English teacher.

Mel, PLEASE! Are you familiar at all with the different forms of personal pronouns and when they are used? You haven't stated any rules of grammar in your gratuitous assertions. You merely state that you are right. Why you feel you must use a persons name when you know of whom you speak is beyond me. If you can show me a rule of Grammar that states such, I will graciously concede. Your assertion that "I" is correct is simply not right. The preposition "of " requires an objective form of that pronoun which is "me". I hear broadcasters and the general public alike use "you and I " ad nauseum when used in conjunction with yet another preposition "between". They learned a rule once (just as you have) that you must say " you and I" and falsely believe that is correct every time you combine the two.
Again, I challenge you to provide anything other than insults, unproven self promotion and gratuitous assertions to prove your point. It is apparent to me and anyone reading this that you are NONE of the things you claim to be. Your use of those types of things proves that you lack the depth of vocabulary and ability to concisely and accurately state the rules which support your argument.
I'm not sure what "game" you are playing but I am enjoying it nonetheless. Were you who you say you are your writing would be much more eloquent and articulate. I am guessing you are some teenager who is just having fun. I hope you have enjoyed yourself. I have.

I agree with T. I'm not sure who this Mel person is but he certainly isnt a teacher. If he is, he is a classic example of what is wrong with our schools today. Mel, finish your homework before your mom catches you on this website!!! LOL

NO! NEITHER of you are correct. She and I is not correct at all. "Take a picture of her and me!" would be correct so the fan is much closer the correct pronoun use than Mrs. Hilton is, but Mrs. Hilton is correct in that the third person should come before the first person.

Yes, it would be "her and me," but I cannot believe that the announcer tried to correct her and also stated it incorrectly. Why do Americans have so much trouble with English?
