Bobby Brown -- Too Broke to Get Out of Jail?

Bobby BrownTMZ has learned that Bobby Brown is still sitting behind bars at Norfolk County House of Corrections in Massachusetts because, "He can't afford to pay his debt."

In an exclusive conversation with Brown's attorney, Phaedra Parks, TMZ was told that the former New Edition member is scrambling to figure out a way to come up with the $19,100 he owes in back child support payments to Kim Ward, the mother of two of his children.

"Mr. Brown is not financially able to make the payment to court," said Parks, adding that she is currently making her "best effort" to work out some sort of deal with the court.

When asked about the fortune he amassed during his days as a world famous musician, Parks replied, "He was an 80s icon, that was 20 years ago."

20. Bobby Brown is one of many men be they red, purple, or candy striped, who can't pay child support...and there is no excuse.....

In the directions of this website, it tells people to stick to the topic of the story and make comments from there. The net is getting like the gutter. You people come on here and say everything and anything that is SO WAY OFF THE SUBJECT.

Get your heads out of your asses, learn how to spell and stop preoccupying yourselves with calling people names and making the subject a racial issue. People like you are the one's who make the world and the internet a depressing disaster.

Lighten up and have some fun and post some interesting comments and suggestions.

AND SMILE, YOU ARE GOING TO GIVE YOURSELVES A HEART ATTACK.!

21. Ellis, Leonard Stern,

So disappointed! I really thought I had made an impact...remember the early days...50 and his lambo...but I see that you can't teach a couple of white guys new tricks...so sad. Especially you Ellis, I thought we had something.

23. Wow! number 7 is very racist! I don't care what color your skin is or what religion you are what Mr. Brown did and does is not right. He deserves to be in jail! Thank God Whitney came to her senses and dumped this LOSER!

24. Whitney wanted a bad boy and she has him! I dont think it was a surprise that he would cheat, remain unemployed, and a all round pain in the ass , what startled me was that Whit was ripe and ready to get married to a man that the public knows is in jail, out of jail, needs HER money to pay his child support etc, etc.

She was so attractive and classy, now, even though she is " clean and sober " she looks so old and puffy - and wait til she goes back and watch " Being Bobby Brown" and sees what a crackhead looks and acts like , and its not really a show its just her looking like a crackhead.Good luck to both, and maybe they could take a little time with their kid before she starts stripping.

And I can say that this is not a color thing, my ex-hubby is white from a good family, but some people should not get married, He was a horrible husband and still owes back child support . But I can also say -it took a long time but now I have the best ( He is also white- its the person NOT the color) .

Peace and Love : )

25. I hope that somehow Bobby can come out on top with this, just because someone is in the music business, it doesnt always mean that they've made the right choices when dealing with the BUSINESS part of it

Also, alot of his projects never made it off the ground, I'm sure he was hoping that those projects would help to ease the financial strain

Everyone shouldn't be so hard on him, I'm pretty sure his children aren't struggling....he'll get it together, all he needs is time & support from his fans

Sheesh, how quickly people turn!! Some of yall act like as soon as he married Whitney he stopped working! Give me a break! And I'm pretty sure he didnt MAKE Whitney pay his child support.

They were both in that together, she willingly married him..warts & all which is what LOVE IS. Ok so it didnt work out (so far) but they lasted alot longer than most people.

I think they'll get back together at some point. I can't see anyone else putting up with Bobby OR Whitney. And yeah Whitney does clean up very well but most of us saw "Being Bobby Brown" that woman is as gutter, if not more GUTTER than Bobby! It doesnt matter how well you dress that woman up, we all saw the same things. She was loud, ghetto, demeaning & potentially violent.

Yeah she can sing & she comes from a great family...but she's a hood chick, end of story. She was one before Clive gave her some wack ass image & she'll always be one even after Clive kicks the bucket LOL

It is what it is. I'm rooting for them both! I hope they get back together

26. Hey White girl, post #28: I have absolutely NO idea how you have managed to associate or otherwise connect me with anyone who has either used the the screen name or online identity of "ELLIS". However, with that exception, I am indeed Leonard Stern + do not choose to hide behind the cloak of anonymity + therefore stand by my earlier comment(s) with respect to 50 Cent. Considering that you are allegedly an attorney, you shouldn't be making publicly accessible comments/posts confusing me with some other contributor here without direct proof of, or otherwise a positive connection [identity] with that person or persons. I can assure you that I have NEVER used the screen name nor, ever posted any coments on TMZ, under the alias of "Ellis". I believe the legal definition for uttering such statements on a public forum, whereby you have knowingly elected to misrepresent my true identity as you have chosen to do, qualifies as libelous! How in the hell did you ever pass the bar in your state? Oh, now I remember, you are a some type of real estate attorney, right?

29. Obviously he has issues. However, obviously his child support payments are too high. Even Whitney houston, who is/was the more current breadwinner is broke and had to have some of her houses foreclosed and belongings auctioned.

The thing is Bobby Brown hasnt had an album in 10 years and his last hit album was almost 15 years ago, He peaked in like 88-89. I know he was on 1 New Edition comeback that was a hit, but the money's not the same split 5-6 ways. And that was back in 96.

He shouldn't be paying child support on his 80s income level.

Whitney Houston, supposedly will even endup doing her next album for free because she hasnt recouped her Arista advance from 7+ years ago.

Singers who havent had albums in 10 years don't make money unless they are prolific song-writers or big time touring artists.

Britney Spears, take note!
