Court Says Not So Fast, Body Going Nowhere

A Florida appeals court issued a stay Monday in the dispute over Anna Nicole Smith's body, ruling that her remains cannot be moved to the Bahamas until the court hears a challenge from the former Playmate's estranged mother, Virgie Arthur.

Arthur had filed a motion with Judge Larry Seidlin, asking him to reconsider Friday's ruling which paved the way for Anna to be buried on the Bahamas. He denied that request. Arthur also filed an appeal with the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals, which has now agreed to hear the challenge.

32. Sounds right to me. Judge Seidlin's hearing and rulings of law clearly wild.

Seidlin ruled that the baby was "next of kin" under the statute, which excludes minor children under age 18. If he had decided that Anna's intent to be buried in the Bahamas controlled, then at least Seidlin had some legal basis.

As I've said before, there is no rush to bury the body. The body is at the Broward
County Medical Examiner's office. The parties have already had a dignified viewing of the body. Closed casket burial more respectful and dignified. The only motivation for open casket is pecuniary--to sell the pictures of dead Anna in the casket. Those pictures would be worth millions. Hope it doesn't happen. Let's have closed casket, burial in the Bahamas next to Daniel, as Anna would have wished.

33. This is ridiculous! Her Mother should be ashame of herself! Any Mother should know that she would want to be buried next to her son!! I think her Mother is in it for the money, anyway!!

34. Do you really think it matters where their bodies are buried anyway? A body is just a vessel during life, the soul is what matters, and the soul could give a shit less what happens to the body, so get over the freakin bodies already!

35. I don't exactly like Vergie but the law is in her favor the judge didn't do his job. He is supposed to make sure the laws of the state of Florida are upheld and he didn't.

38. Oh, give me a break! Just let this woman rest in peace, please. She wanted to be next to her son in the Bahamas. I don't care if you're her mother or not, let HER wishes BE. Her mother never had anything to do with her from the start and was the first person to accuse her of dying of a drug overdose, since when does she care what actually happens to her daughter and grandson?

I will be so happy when I see this ANS stuff done and over with. Bury her in the Bahamas with her son and give the daughter to her father.

45. How come nothing is mentioned about that big life insurance policy that Daniel had? I am sure stern has that. I am sure they are going to prove stern had something to do with both anna and daniels death. He is a snake.
