79. Cruise closing: Looks like Tom Cruise and his producing partner Paula Wagner are finally getting that financial package they were talking about when Cruise was kicked out of Paramount. LAT reports that they're close to raising about $500 million to finance a slate of movies over the next few years - and that Merrill Lynch is leading the way. Cruise and Wagner will be reviving the old United Artists brand - and supposedly making it an artist driven production company (whatever that means). It's yet another example of Wall Street fueling the Hollywood production line. From the LAT:

This trend, accounting for billions of dollars in recent years, has occurred as stars and filmmakers are being squeezed by studios intent on slashing production and marketing costs. As a result, much of the financing from investment banks, private equity firms and hedge funds is going into the projects of Hollywood's most bankable talent, providing significant autonomy to those players. In the UA deal, Merrill Lynch is expected to enlist other banks to supply some of the financing, a combination of equity and debt. In recent years, the investment bank has been active in backing slates of movies by other studios and independent producers including Paramount Pictures, Marvel Entertainment and Montecito Picture Co., headed by director Ivan Reitman and former Universal Pictures Chairman Tom Pollock.

80. Sad but stupid she is. Cruise is a whacko and she's following in the footsteps of Scientology who rented my friends location on 3rd Street early when they started in Los Angeles. She's giving up her religion based on God to bring a baby into the phoney Scientology game where gay men can pretend to be straight birthing babies. Not a good thing, and Katie has lost any charm she had. If she turne out looking like her mom, nice as her parents are, Tom will dump her anyway. She is not pretty enough and her looks may only be temporary for if she looks like her mother, she'll be frump. Katie borders not pretty today .. later as she ages .. well, not good. The little five foot four Cruise will get another bride ..

88. I don't know much about Katie or whether or not she's a beard but in this interview she seemed well-spoken. Some people believe that the child chooses their parents before birth, which might be what she believes, thus the "honored" comment. My son started walking at 9 months and my great-aunt at 7 months, so it can happen. She seemed really sweet in this interview, I don't think she looked or acted strange at all. If TMZ hadn't said she did, I doubt anyone would see anything wrong with the way she talked.

90. Are the "people" criticising Tom for their perception of his restraining Kathy blind or what? She was in Paris several times without him, been photographed at several boutiques and shopping centres on her own or with girl-friends or her mum or mum-in-law, having lunch & / or dinner without Tom etc. Perhpas these same critics are very selctive of what photos they want to look at or is that a conspiracy too?.

And at other times, if she is with Tom, they are newly weds, for goodness sake. I wanted to be with my husband all the time when we first met, and still like him around, and I am married for over 40 years now.

I pity those same"people" who have never known the joy of wanting to be with a loved one.
