Britney Spears had to be convinced, cajoled and even badgered into giving rehab a fair shot. We're told three people may have made all the difference.

Britney's mom, Lynne Spears, has been frustrated but undaunted in trying to convince her daughter that she had a problem and needed help. Before Kevin took custody, it was Lynne who protected the children. She has also made Britney and the kids the priority in her life. Britney has railed against her mother; but Lynne refused to back down.

We're told uber-lawyer Laura Wasser stuck with her client as Britney appeared to self-destruct. Many lawyers are notoriously impatient and even intolerant with clients who defy orders and reason. Wasser must have figured out Britney's problems were bigger than she -- and stuck by her side.

Kevin Federline has also been a staunch supporter of his estranged wife. According to several sources, K-Fed has "stepped up to the plate" in Brit's time of need, taking care of the kids and offering Britney and her family support. He has also shown the pop princess tough love; denying her access to their young boys, even when she begged him for it. That, our sources say, was excruciatingly painful for Kevin, but he knew it was the best thing for his wife and his children. We're also told he is being "extremely reasonable" in the divorce.

PDP is a SERIOUS problem and I TRULY wish Brit all the luck with healing herself...She'll be back and stronger because of it.

62. So, it's not her fault, she has PPD so it's ok for her to go out and get hammered multiple nights a week. It's ok that the two boys she birthed are cared for mostly by others, it's all good, you know why cause she's got enough money that's why. Anyone else who abused drugs and abandon their kids the way she did would have those babies taken from them in a snap.
I'm so sick of hearing bout this washed up princess. NEXT!

63. You people amaze me. This girl had no childhood and has faced all the responsibilities of supporting her "family" from early adolescence. She is in this position, most likely, BECAUSE of these people. Because her mother is not her mother as long as Britney has been calling the shots because Britney was the breadwinner in that home...noone could say 'no' to her. This story sounds like just another "spin" to me....instead of facing the blame of their parental shortcomings (and her lawyer, c'mon!), they are going to make it look like they are saving her. Give me a break. A day late and several million dollars later...

64. #61 it's PPD not PDP but anyhow, I know all about it, had it twice. It's a very curious case when you go out and party and get all wasted. I was in a few PPD support groups and I never heard of any of those mothers wanting to even get out of bed, let alone leave the house all dressed up, heading to places where she knows she's gonna be swarmed and partying it up. PPD is when you feel alienated, like no other woman has ever felt the way you do and noone would understand. hence you become a hermit, quite the opposite of what BS exhibited.

65. As someone who went through PPD after the birth of my daughter, don't judge until you have been there. I've said all along she had PPD - no pictures of her with Jayden, the crazy behavior - it all makes sense. She is young, had two babies 12 months apart and a divorce. The paparrazi need to leave her alone and let her get well.

It is refreshing to learn of an attorney who is not motivated by money.

If what you say about Kevin is true, I have a new found respect for him as a person, a father, a husband and a man. Good job Kevin! You are making all the right moves and showing the world what you are really made of.

Best wishes for Britney. It can't be easy falling apart and being judged in a public forum.

IF SHE WAS NOT A POPSTAR HER KIDS WOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN IN A NEW YORK MINUTE AND LOOK AT ALL SHE'S DONE AND STILL KEPT HER KIDS,DRIVING WITH ONE ON HER LAP IN TRAFFIC ON THE FREEWAY,ANYONE ELSE TAKEN BUT NOT HER,NOW THAT K-FED HAS STEPPED IN THAT IS SO GREAT BUT ,BUT CSD STILL SOULD HAVE STEPPED IN ALONG TIME AGO AND GAVE HER A TASTE OF REALITY.

69. OMG I have heard everything now LOL. Keven being reasonable in the divorce LOL He has already spent most her money . He should get what he signed for 700k in the prenup and nothing more . Poor Brit they are putting are queer spin on this . K Fed has a dream team working for him. This is a joke the guy was out cheating on her right after she gave birth. 70. It think it is so funny that people are now questioning their opinion of Kevin. Those of us that know him and his family have known all along that everything that was said about him in the press was untrue. The hardest thing for his friends and family to do was to stand by and let the press, public, media, etc. make up stories and tell lies about someone that is, at heart, a very decent guy.

I am extremely sadden about what has happened to Britney, but it is a breath of fresh air to see nice things being said about Kevin. Funny thing is.. he has always been this way, but no one made any effort to see it.. He has suffered enough. I pray for him, the kids, his family and for Britney, and hope they all make it through this very tough time.

73. If you read my emails last week, I thought she was going through post partum depression. I also hope her marriage can be saved. Hard times will bring you closer or tear you apart. I believe it can bring them closer.

74. If this is true about Kevin, then I am impressed, but still do not like him very much. I hope Kevin realizes what is really going and how his stupidity has affected the mother of his Children. I pray for Britney and I remain by her side.

It sounds as both Brit and K-Fed have been less than stellar parents. Why does Lynne seem to have them most of the time?

Sorry fellow readers. I'm not ready to buy the post-partum defense quite yet. I think Brit is a spoiled, self-indulgent pop star. That's the root of her problem. I've known a few moms with post-partum depression and they don't shave their heads and run around sans panties puking on the sidewalks..
