Gay Slur Gets "Grey's" Goof an Image Award

16. Black folks have a long-standing bias against gays ... I've had gay friends tell me that the AA community does everything in its power to suppress homosexual behavior and give "shunnin" new definition.. So it doesn't surprise me that the NAACP gave Isaiah Washington an Image Award ... as far as they're concerned, he's defending the party line.

Married black gay guys invented the "down low" thing -- it's just not acceptable for brothas to be gay. So the NAACP probably applauds IW going off on TR Knight.

18. The reason Isaiah received his award is because he is an incredible actor and has a rare role of a African American doctor on a top rated show. That image alone is enough to inspire a young African American boy to dream to be a doctor. Not to mention, in our community, Isaiah is a veteran having been around this business for decades. 21. If it's about image, how about the irony of Forest Whitaker receiving an NAACP award for playing Idi Amin. I'm not sure if that's the best way to, "go back to Africa and touch (your) roots."

26. For those who defend him, you are not being truthful to yourself. And dont compare Isiah to Ann Coulture. She was kidding- he wasn't. And for those who continually DEFEND him by saying he got help, you are out of touch! Isiah had to say what he did to keep his job. You cannot go to rehab to take away homophobia!! Rehab is just the hollywood thing to do nowadays. So, everything and anything that Isiah has said is a bunch of rubbish because, after all, he is actor. He was just acting.
Right on- to the reader who said that a lot of black people have a lont standing biased again GAYs? So true. I am not saying ALL BLACKS do but a lot that I know.

So stop defending Isiah just because he is black. Black, White, Yellow, Jew , Gay, Man or Woman- if someone has done something wrong, admit to it and try to do something about it. Stop making excuses!

27. His character should not have won an award. The other actors on the show were much better. Oh yeah, other races aren't allowed to be nominated. I guess he did deserve to win an NAACP award, the awards discriminate just as much as he does.

29. Washington has taken the steps to right this issue. He signed up for rehab along with Ann Coulture and Andy Dick......OH WAIT....they were a no-show....they never checked into the rehab center......why is that? Isaiah Washington attacked, even after recognizing his mistake, but the other two get off free as a jailbird biggot, even after they've made it a joke and said it twice (yes I'm talking to you Mr. Dick!) Give me a break......be fair or let it go!!

BTW........."Grey's Anatomy" is doing great despite Isaiah Washington's incident, I hear.....The cast is becoming a strong unit and the show is thriving.........oh wait...maybe I'm wrong......isn't there a spin off happening and some of the cast is threatening to leave the show....doesn't that really mean "Grey's Anatomy" is in trouble? None of this was happening BEFORE Washington became a household name. What a coincidence.....

I'm just sayin'..........

30. How disgusting. I cannot believe the NAACP would deign to give this poor excuse for humanity (black, white, or otherwise) any kind of award, let alone an image award. Let's not confuse the issue by bringing up Anne Coulter (not Anna, you 'tards), and trying to make this a racial issue. This is a discrimination/bigotry issue, and the NAACP just endorsed Washington's poor behavior with an award. Boo to the NAACP; way to expose your own blatant hypocrisy when it comes to discrimination.
