20. I resized this image up 600% to try to get an idea of what the small blackish and round spot was in her hand. Whatever it is, is slightly larger then a woman's thumbnail and is a shade of very, very dark brown.

My conclusion is that if this was money, and the photo wasn't altered, then it must be a penny.

21. After finding a higher quality copy of the same photo, I can see that the speck she is holding in her hand is something dark and shaped like a small butterfly. Whatever it is, it's apparently trash and not even money.

22. I was in NYC this past weekend and I saw this kid---my husband and I passed him but I felt so bad after reading his sign that I gave him a few bucks. My husband told me he was probably collecting money for drugs and what he really needs is food or a blanket--things like that. I guess you just never really know who is a con man and who is for real.

26. don't give panhandlers money. give the money to an organization which is actually out there helping and advocating for the homeless. everyone who said these are scam artists are telling the truth.

you people buying this guy's act will probably give your bank account information to nigerians promising you -- a stranger halfway around the world -- a cut of their windfall if you do so. it's the same scam, one's local, the other's international, but its still the same scam.

and so what if he's sitting in zero degree weather. people do 'strange' things for a fix. look at all the fools who get stuck on Mt. Hood. besides, that guy doesn't look homeless to me. why *was* there a camera rolling?

if Carmen really wants to help, she'll take her ass down to a homeless shelter or abused spouse shelter, and give her time and her money there. no kudos.

29. Folks, she gave the guy a piece of garbage! Go save the higher resolution image from WWTDD.com on you hard drive, load it in an image editor (Adobe, even Paint), and zoom in on her hand. It's very obvious what it is, trash.
