"Grey" Payday, But X-ray of Deal Shows Fractured Cast

These days, it pays to be Grey: Meredith Grey, that is.

ABC has inked fat new deals with much of the cast from "Grey's Anatomy," per the Hollywood Reporter,

"Under the new deals, all actors will receive salary bumps. [Ellen] Pompeo now will be at nearly $200,000 per episode, while Pickens, Wilson, Chambers and Knight will be paid in the neighborhood of $125,000 per episode, sources said."
Yow.

Amusingly, sources tell TMZ that the group of supporting characters attempted to pull a "West Wing" style move, wherein the supporting castmates banded together the same way that Richard Schiff (better known as Toby Zigler) did with Alison Janney (CJ Craig) and Bradley Whitford (now of "Studio 60") -- except that in the case of the Grey's cast, the cast soon fractured: Pickens, Wilson, Knight and Chambers unified front quickly devolving into an "every doc for himself" style of bargaining.

Apparently, when it comes to pay, these actors believe in "first, do no harm" to your relationship with the studio.

Speaking of, we wonder, too, about the fact that no deals have closed for either Patrick Dempsey, Sandra Oh nor, especially interesting "Dr. Izzie" aka Katherine Heigl -- the latter of whom has had her bedside manner critiqued rather publicly by ABC. Contract status for Isaiah Washington still unknown.

We'll keep a close eye on the show's heart monitor.

16. Ok..... where was Izzie before this show. I do remember having seen Ellen Pompeo in some Lifetime movies and a couple other movies. Never saw Heigl before. I am so sick of her. She did do her best work with Denny, not that he's gone, I have no use for her. If she and George get together I may not be able to watch anymore. Besides, what about Callie, I love her character and like the TALENTED actress. Heigl should just be happy she is on a show, because that could change!

17. Okay first off, the show is called GREY'S Anatomy not EVERYONE ELSE Anatomy, the show is about Grey. Those of you who think Pompeo is whiny and boring and bland, that's her character. It's not her. She's supposed to be whiny. However, all the stars on the show make it unique so they should all be paid the same. And in any case, if they're all paid the same, the pay differences would not be an issue thus avoid any more animosity in the cast. We need them all in the show. They all have their own certain part that makes the show just irresistible to watch.

19. Give me a huge break.....you are hooked like a fish just caught with a hook ....and the reason is that the show has "hookability". This means that you can't go a week without windering whats up next. Will she live, or die? Actually, they wrote that part in--like she fell off the pier......so if she didn't sign for $200,000.00 , they would just have written in a "kill her off episode to scare her into signing for $200,000. This way they get her for cheap!
Those script writer work for the studios.........................

20. I love Grey's but was hoping that Meredith was not make it thru the drowing. She is my least favorite and the show could definitely go on without her. I was rooting for McDreamy and his wife to make it.

Just because she was the star in the beginning, she's not now. Not sure why whe was the star in the first place.

She's OK, ,but not the best actor/actress on the show.
