Regis -- Bypassed by Docs, Bathed by Kelly?

Regis Philbin is going under the knife this week for bypass surgery, and looks like he'll have the services of a preternaturally perky nurse -- his co-host Kelly Ripa -- should he want them.

Philbin announced on this morning's "Live with Regis and Kelly" that he's going to have heart bypass surgery after experiencing shortness of breath and chest pains. His preferred mode of treatment was angioplasty -- "Bang, bang, bang, they blow it open," as he described it -- but doctors insisted on the more invasive bypass.

Kelly obligingly offered her, er, assistance: "My primary job will be, like it or not, get your pills ready -- your sponge-bath nurse." To which Reege very quickly replied, "Why don't you give me a quick dip before I go?"

Philbin says he'll be away from the show for five weeks. No word on whether Clay Aiken will fill in for the peppy talkmaster.

17. I'm hoping that Clay can be a co-host for a week or so. He said that he and Kelly made up. Although, it would be better if it was just Clay hosting or co-hosting with someone else (like Joy).

I wish Reege a speedy recovery. The show isn't the same without him! Kelly will be her annoying self for 5 weeks. UGH! The ratings will go down for sure.

19. I wish Regis well and hope he is back soon. I think Clay should be given another shot. After all he has one hand left, clean and unused. Maybe Kelly will get the point....LET SOMEONE ELSE GET A WORD IN!!!!! And Clay has turned out to be soooooo cute!

20. I hope Regis gets back soon!!!! Five weeks of that annoying little twit (Kelly) running the show is enough to make me need a bypass. On second thought, I will bypass the show until Regis returns. Kelly can mug to the camera, with her annoying wannabe model act and her skinny little nasty Paris Hilton wanna be self. Yuck!!!!

i won't watch the show wit h that big mouth, and they way kelly and kathy lee gifford jput their noses right into his face was so annoying, his wife joy never did that, she should have been his co host all these years.
the ratings are going to drop
she is just like the other big mouth that finally the show go trid of these two broads thought a lot of themselves and who cares about their personal lives

instructions and diet no hard time just do it. My dad did not follow the doctors intructions so
you must do what ever they tell you. I will love to co host with Kelly no expireince on
TV but I can learn from the best. I will leave you with this ISAIAH 53:5, with his stripes we are

23. Best wishes to Regis. Hope he does well. He's a cool guy -- intelligent, funny and a natural w/ others.

Ripa on the other hand, I can't. Her ego is even bigger then her mouth. I hope Regis gives himself a 5 week break from the mouth piece and lets her run the show herself. I won't be watching w/o him, but at least he'll get some rest. And make sure Ripa doesn't have any co-hosts, just a solo act. I've seen how she can treat her co-hosts....like dirt. On second thought, I hope Regis does pair her up with a co-host will not take her crap and will give it back - on air as she does. Now that, I'd watch!

Kelly is a great host she is so cute and cheerful we need more of that in the world we are living in today.I hope Clay is not a guest host he was so rude to kelly during that show .

27. Hope Regis does really well. I have been there, and had complications, but am ok now. It's been 9 years!

Please don't subject a nice guy like Clay Aiken to another dose of that egomaniac . She made a mountain out of a molehill, and a fool out of herself to boot. I think she got her knickers in a twist because he is a far better co-host than she is a host.
