Pax Joins Jolie-Pitt Clan

Here's the first look at Angelina Jolie's newest adopted child.
Pax Thien Jolie
Angelina Jolie left an orphanage in Vietnam today with the 3-year-old boy she plans to adopt. The director of the orphanage, Nguyen Van Trung, confirmed to the AP that Vietnamese officials had approved the adoption.

The boy's birth name was Pham Quang Sang, but his adopted name is Pax Thien Jolie. Pax means "peace" in Latin, while Thien means "good" or "kind." Pax joins Maddox, 3, Zahara, 2, and Shiloh, 10 months. Maddox and Zahara were adopted from Cambodia and Ethiopia, respectively. Jolie gave birth to Shiloh last May in Namibia.

Jolie, with Maddox in tow, got the tot from an orphanage in the morning, then went to the Department of Justice in Ho Chi Minh City, where a ceremony was conducted in which Jolie officially adopted the child. Her partner, Brad Pitt, is not on the adoption papers and did not accompany her to Vietnam.

181. I agree with the sceptical comments on this site. Adoption is a complicated process for both parents and the child. Are you really doing a child a favor by taking him away from his culture into this kind of a life? And so many kids in such a short time. Children don't crave money or traveling, they need (and adoptees even more so) a stable, predictable, normal environment ot grow up in. I honestly doubt that this woman can provide that kind of environment. And yes, all het kids were clearly adopted also for their looks.
This just does not feel right. Give a Vietnamese couple money to give him a home there, and focus on the kids you already have.

183. Oh, and I agree that Ms. Jolie always seems to come back with the most physically beautiful child - by our standards. Look how beautiful Zahara is. No, she is no Mia Farrow who solely operates from the heart.

184. I also agree with a former comment that noted the new child's physical appearance - I agree that she seems to come back with the best looking child by our beauty standards, and that makes me uncomfortable. Very uncomfortable. And it does make me feel that she is in no way in the same league as Ms. Farrow, who as a single parent, as managed to raise lovely, well-adjusted children - many of whom suffer from profound physical challenges. She is a genuinely remarkable person. But, this society is so shallow, so because Angelina is so pretty she is queen - or is Jen queen this week - jesus, the whole thing is absurd. Ms. Jolie is no saint. She is in a position of great wealth and power. And she uses that. So would I!

186. OMG! #45 your comment is RIGHT ON!

I was wondering if I was the only person on the planet who was reminded of Cruella De Ville everytime I see an Angelina story. Hope she stops adopting before she has 101 kids!

I actually do hope that she really does do good for the sake of good rather than for the publicity but am skeptical. I would think more of her if she kept her private life more private. But for whatever reason she does what she does it is positive and helpful so I guess I respect that. But just cannot bring myself to like her.....

187. The reason she adopts from other countries is because the adoption centers are in much worse condition, and so are the countries themselves. At least the kids here have nicer orphanages, and more people that are looking to adopt. Let's face it, not many people are willing to go very far out of their ways to adopt, PLUS, they have to wait for YEARS here, so it makes sense. It's so much more dangerous in those other countries, and you can have such a better life here. Also, she changed his name b/c he was abandoned, so the orphanage gave him the original name; it's basically a "no purpose" name, like Jane Doe . . .just bland, with no heart behind it. She wanted him to feel like he meant something, like he was worth loving enough for a real name. Besides, just because the kids aren't from here, that's supposed to mean they don't need help too? Kids all over the world need help, not just American kids.

She didn't just " get the boy to for Mad to play with", she thought it might be nice to have a brother he could relate to, but she was going to adopt another child anyway. She just figured if she was going to do it, why not adopt a child similar, so the children would all be a little more compatable? Wouldn't you want your children to have a little something in common? If they're happy, nothing else matters. They just love to help; and, they have the income, so why shouldn't they help what they can? And, she got through the process faster, because she's adopted from two other countries, so she has "credit" and they know she'll check out. Besides, the sooner the better for the child, right? Why make them suffer any longer.

188. It's great that she adopted yet another child from yet another third world country but, what about all the homeless children from the US that need families. I think these celebrity's need to use their money and power for the greater good of the country that has made them who they are today, the USA.
