47. Maria, you're right. There is something incredibly wrong with a society that cannot appreciate or see all the good a woman like Angelina Jolie has done.
"all this child had was his name", blah, blah. That alone is the saddest thing, not that fact that his new mother changed his name to make it more palatable.

Something is wrong with a society where any adult thinks it's okay to touch a child or to have sex with a child.
Something is terribly wrong with a society that doesn't even have proper healthcare for their poorest or youngest citizens.
Something is wrong with a society that sits idly by while their President send young men and women to die based on a lie, a president that has created another Vietnam.
Something is wrong with a society that doesn't have the balls or conscience to insist that their government financially secure the medical of the soldiers and the families they come home to.
Something is wrong with a society where executives are paid tens of million dollars a year, and live in a 15000 Sq ft houses, while they pay employees with families minimum wage and no health care coverage.

i was adopted from vietnam and love my given name by my adopted parents. in fact when i got married, i kept my maiden name because i am so proud of it.

at least she is attempting to do some good, unlike the rest of the "celebs".

50. Andrea - There are NOT orphanages in the US. We have the Foster Care system, which places children in individual homes so that they have "families" until their families can take care of them or until their familes give up their rights so the child can be adopted.

I still don't understand why it matters to all of you where a child is adopted from. All people are created equally, so who gives a rip what country a kid is from if he's one less kid that's homeless?

52. Anyone on here bashing an adoption wether it's here or from somewhere else Thank Goodness that a child is given a home and an opportunity to grow up in a family of his own. So what if she changed his name so many adoptive parents do this....and it will make him feel more of a part of his family.......at least she's helping one child that is a wonderful thing and most of us can't do that........it's wonderful that she is giving the orphanage her own money to help the other children at the orphanage.

Most American women who try to put their children up for adoption pull out and it's hardbreaking for parents........but the main point is that a life is being helped, that's one more in this world.

First off whoever said that the orphanages in the U S A are some of the best ran is absolutely incorrect.I have several friends who work as Social Workers whom have seen children in orphanages that were horrible,as well as children being in foster homes in this great country only for the payment the kids get ever month.My ex wife was in foster care and a orphanage also.Lets just say that it was not a walk through the park as you may it out to be.Which may explain the reasons why she has the issues she has today.Angelina is a whore.that stole Brad away.The reasoning behind her adopting over seas is because it is much easier than it is in the states.Please dont say I dont what I am talking about becasue I have had family members go through this process.First off 90 percent of the time they want married couples to adopt in the states.Secondly with her history being muched publized that is another strike against her.Thirdly they would investagate her,and her home as well as the people whom would be nearest the child.Many that it would be seen that this child wold be raised by Nannies most of the time.While Angelina is out there for her photo opps.Get real this woman has money to back her up,as well as a household full of Nannies,and staff.Of course it will be easy for her to do this when she has all that.She trapped Brad's ass with that biological kid of theirs,and the reason she wants to only adopt now is because if she had more her ass would spread out so bad.She would never act again.Come on does anyone remeber the movie Mommy Dearest.If she has 2 million dollars to give to a orphanage in Vietnam.Than adoptign an American child should be no issue with her.By the way there are plenty of WHITE,AFIRICAN AMERICAN,ASIAN.AND HISPANIC children that need adopting right here.As an American I feel that we all need to stop looking into our neighbors backyard to see what we can do for them.An start worring about the kids who need our help here in the United States.

58. People should stop nit picking and look at the larger scale of things.

As long the child is safe and happy I don;t think he will mind his name change. Sure there is going to be a time of adjusting for everyone involve but that’s life and kids should learn that no matter the age.

He is still too young to really be attached to a name. I still call me kids by their nick names and they are well adjusted kids. Maybe Angie will call him LOVE or HONEY for a while, while they are all adjusting. Who cares what she names him as long as he is loved.

I see nothing wrong with it. I like the new name now that I know what Pax means.

Thien is a good name. A peaceful sky is bright and essentially that’s what his Vietnamese name ‘Quang Sa’ng’ alludes to. After the rain, the dark clouds are gone and the sun is out, the Vietnameses say ‘tro+`i quang’ (the sky is clear / bright). And when darkness is gone we say ’sa’ng ro^`i’ (there’s light).

All in all, there is nothing to make of the changing of the name. His was not truly his any way since he was abandoned. A child can adapt quickly, especially when there are kids his age, even more so when there is one his gender.

By next month I’m sure he’ll know enough English to let his new family know he’s hungry, thirsty, needs to go pee, and so on.

A child born into a harsh world isn’t like one born into a country with massive welfare and social programs such as America. He or she will be just fine in the new environment.

Angie did make an effort to learn some Vietnamese phrases so she can comfort the boy. That is commendable.

I am just happy that she decided to adopt a Vietnamese boy. He is now saved from a life without education, on the hard streets of Saigon where he could be tricked into prostituting himself to survive.

He will have education, dreams and very possibly have at least one of his dream fulfilled.

I was watching the news today and yesterday while my daughter was getting ready for school,,theres jolie both days, about her new adoption, got on aol to check my mail,,there again is Jolie,,adopting again,,with pictures, they got here awful fast. She is everywhere, thats's because she is a media whore, will do and say anything to get attention. you want to change your image jolie? stay home and be a mother. adopt all you want,,just stay home with them. take a good look at Zahara, she is the negative of jolie. lips and all. To bad pitt can't get pregnant, she could keep him barefoot and pregnant. you the man jolie.
