Rock to Bush: You're a "Retard!"

Chris RockChris Rock thinks George W. Bush is a retard.

In the latest issue of Life magazine, featuring Chris on the cover, Rock is asked, "Is this country ready for an African American president?" Rock answered, "It's ready for a retarded president, why wouldn't it be ready for an African American president?" Oh no he didn't!

Rock went on to say that he likes Al Gore, and that he doesn't expect to see a black president in his lifetime.

The comedian, doing publicity for "I Think I Love My Wife," also took the opportunity to quash persistent rumors that his marriage was in trouble. "My marriage is just like everybody else's," Rock said. "Great like everybody else's and whatever like everybody else's. Everything's fine."

76. #30 - I admire your optimism, but you can't even pretend that such ignorance doesn't exist after reading this board. Everything seems to boil down to how everyone has rights but white people, how awful it is to criticize or make a joke at the expense of President (even off limits for a comedian, who has thrown plenty of barbs at his own ethnic group), how the jews are money grubbers who either want or have control over everything. What sad shape we are in.

77. 73 & #74 - Thank you. In some ways this board is so much fun, because we inflate everything that celebrities do to such an absurd level of importance. In other ways, it is really scary and depressing because it is a real eye opener about how a lot of this country thinks!

78. Chris Rock did not say Bush is a retard. Read the original quote (you won't find it at TMZ.)
He said "We are ready for a retarded President, why wouldn't it be ready for an African-American president?"

Why does everyone assume he was talking about Bush? Perhaps the some of us are a little too defensive.

79. #59 - Please explain to me how Israel is "using that money to buy arms." How is Israel getting ahold of this supposed AIDS money? Where is the connection? Could you also fill me in on this AIDS vaccine that "the Gates" can afford to provide for everyone?

80. "A black C student can't do shit with his life. A black C student can't be a manager at Burger King, meanwhile a white C student just happens to be the President of the United States." -- Chris Rock -- Never Scared (HBO, 2004)

81. #29 - Chris Rock hates developmentally disabled people? Isn't that a bit of a leap? Let me explain the difference between Ann Coulter and Chris Rock. One is a comedian (even if you don't find him humorous, that is his chosen field), the other is a political comentator. One is expected to make intelligent, somewhat valid points about current affairs. The other is expected to provide laughter. In the guise of political commentary, which is by nature meant to be taken at least a little seriously, AC hasn't done much except to incite real anger and division by making "controversial" statements that her dopey public eats up. Chris Rock, on the other hand, makes no claim to be providing serious commentary about anything. Man, this place is just loaded with future members of MENSA.

83. I'm not on "the left". I'm a Libertarian--and I think Bush is retarded. I notice that many of the people supporting him on this board are having difficulty with their spelling and are often incapable of writing in complete sentences. People should vote for a more informed, more knowledgeable, and more articulate person than they themselves are. Even traditional conservatives have sharply criticized the current administration and the (new) GOP. Anyone who thinks that huge increases in government expansion and control, increased spending, and a weakened Constitution are traditional "conservative" goals is also a retard.

84. Well, B.I.G. Johnson, I suspect that those with loved ones who are mentally challenged are already aware that their children are developmentally challenged. In other words, I think they already know their loved ones aren't very intelligent. Being of less than average intelligence is a big part of what makes one retarded. So, when Chris Rock called President Bush retarded, he was suggesting that he is of below average intelligence. As a comedian, it is Chris Rock's job to make observations. I think this particular observation and assessment of the President's intellectual capacity is particularly astute and most definitely accurate. There is more than enough evidence to back his observation. Furthermore, if you wish to live in a country where it is inappropriate to question or criticize one's leaders, please move out of mine.

86. Why am I not surprised Rock likes Al Gore - Al Gore is a deeply disturbed man - Bush is retarded? you're the idiot Rock (I'm sure you think Clinton is a moral man) - who is chris rock - he's a freekin' comedian, SO WHAT - he should SHUT UP and make people laugh, retarded people can also do that Rock, or should I use the right words, mentally challenged - - what would a BLACK President do Rock? GIVE OUT MORE FREEBIES - STOP THE BLAME GAME - STOP THE BABIES - how 'bout all the crimes in certain neighborhoods, stop blaming schools, teachers, conservatives, liberals, politicians, police, America, THE WHOLE FREEKIN' WORLD - we're sick of it.. You help stop that and maybe we'll respect you more

87. #91 - I'm pretty sure that the person you are directing your comment at has some pretty strong opinions that just might fall into the category of racist and hatemongering. Good luck in getting through that brick wall! My Son died on the cross for this?

88. Patton, Chris Rock may be "too ignorant to know who is smart"; but he's just smart enough to know who isn't: Retards and the current President of the United States.

89. Just ONCE!! I would like to hear some of these celebrities make a negative comment about the people who are blowing up our men and women in Iraq, regardless of your party.

Show how BRAVE you really are. Just ONCE - say something against radical islam.

I will wait patiently.

Dave, the problem is, that as a libertarian, you have a tendency to think for yourself. Most seem to want to be told what to think and what to do. My theory on the still die hard supporters of this administration is that they find the idea of a strong father figure to taking charge comforting.
