Simon to Seacrest: "Come out!"

Simon Cowell and Ryan Seacrest got into a sparring match on "American Idol" last night -- skewering each other with sexuality innuendo on the live broadcast.

Moments before a performance by front-runner Melinda Doolittle in her four-inch heels, Seacrest asked Cowell if he had any advice for her wearing the high heels, to which Simon replied, "You should know, Ryan." Seacrest then set himself up big-time by saying, "Stay out of my closet," leading to the inevitable "Come out!" from Cowell! Ryan then countered with, "This is about the Top 12, not your wishes!"

This isn't the first time the two have, er, exchanged blows over sexuality. Last season, GLAAD reached out to the show to discuss their "concerns and the concerns of community members and allies."

7. It's rather insulting to the gay community that Ryan stays so entrenched in the closet that they have to joke about it.

11. i think everyone is sick of seacrest's virulent faux-straightness and the cheesy attempts made to hide it through homophobia. my take on the exchange is that cowell is sick of it as well, especially since he's so often the target for ryan's self-hating gay-baiting. please! it's 2007, ryan, and no one will care.

12. These exchanges are always so uncomfortable to watch, not to mention extremely childish. Plus, it's super offensive... I don't think it's fair that they get away with being so anti-gay on the highest rated show on television.

So is Ryan Seacrest gay? I mean, I know he officially says he's not, but I always go back and forth on whether I think he is or not...
