Larry Birkhead breaking news Larry Birkhead's attorney Debra Opri issued a statement this morning, saying "Larry Birkhead and I have terminated our attorney-client relationship effective immediately."

TMZ has learned that there has been trouble brewing for some time, and that this split was not a surprise to either party. We know they have butted heads over various issues in the past three weeks. Larry will participate in today's hearing in the Bahamas, but will only be represented by a Bahamian attorney. We know that he has not yet retained new counsel in the United States.

Opri, for her part, says "My prayers will be with Larry and Dannielynn always."

I thought she was a good lawyer, and always got directly to the point.. no beating around the bush! I do kind of wonder what is going on.. I hope that he isnt planning on making a deal with HK$... since he is just as low as it gets.. Ugh! I juat want this crap to be over.. Give him his dang baby already! Before Howard permanatly screws her up.. its no coincidence that everyone who was under HIS control was messed up on DRUGS.. ever her 20 year old son? UGH!

I work in the legal field. I hope that Larry retains new effective, aggressive counsel in the US immediately...or he is SO sunk.

Say what you want about Opri...the comments that she's a "bitch, loudmouth, and touches her client's arm" have nothing whatsoever to do with her legal abilities. She's strong, she's effective, and she was going in the right direction for her client.

I hope that Larry did not do something stupid which will affect his ever having a chance of getting custody of Dannielynn. That remains to be seen. But the timing on this is BAD.

oh i am so glad the way you guys are t alking so supportive of larry, i could cry for him right now, he is in so much pain, and no one is honest with him
i hated when he wanted to talk, opri always took the mike. that was unbelievably annoying when she would hold his arm, he kept his arm straight the bitch never got the hint. i thought she was going on the other side, because she was in hoards' arm too, i hope he gets the best lawyer and didnt pay that big mouth, she loved the celebrity

WOW! She was a pitbull fighting for LB. I hope that his next lawyer will go after Howard Stern just like she did.
Larry I think that most people who read this will support you in all your decisions as long as you gain custody of DL.

Larry will regret this decision. Debra is one of the best attorneys anywhere and I believe Howard's lawyer felt intimidated and scared of her.

Good riddance! She was conflictive and judges did not care for her.
Too much camera time. I do not think she quit, she was fired.
Imagining her pushing her weight around in a Bahamian court, probably they wouldn't have put up with it, and bad results for Larry.

Dottie...This will probably increase his chances of getting Dannielynn cause things really weren't looking good for Larry in terms of hte Bahamas ordering the test.
What he probably won't get, is control of Anna's estate, which is what Opri wanted. She said 2 days ago that she wanted to challenge the will and have control of the estate. I don't think Larry agreed that was the right way to go.
So, hopefully he'll get his DNA test and they can quietly work out the rest without dragging Anna's name through the mud anymore.

While I find all of these lawyers annoying, at least Opri always answered the questions she was asked and was straight foward. Unlike Barth and Rale who have never had an original thought in their lives, say the same stupid things over and over again.
