Fear Not Oprah, Tyrese Has Your Back!

Tyrese Attention TMZ readers: Bizarro press release alert!

Not that anyone asked, but actor/model/rapper Tyrese aka Black Ty has issued a statement in defense of Oprah Winfrey's South African school. Earlier this week, reports surfaced claiming that Oprah Winfrey's Leadership Academy for Girls was too strict with its students. While the Big O already issued a statement denying the allegations, Tyrese has gone ahead and thrown his fitty cents into the Winfrey PR mix.

Tyrese's statement reads, "There is a staggering amount of millionaires and billionaires out in the world that do nothing to effect positive change within society. The fact that Oprah Winfrey took a monumental step to create a school in South Africa for the betterment of African children rather then (sic) just speak of change is commendable. The bible says -- 'No good deed shall go unpunished,' (sic) and there are many critics out in the world turning up negative stones (sic) to find a flaw in this wonderful gift donated to South Africa by Oprah Winfrey. I stand with Oprah in the fight for change and positive world reform and I hope that people realize there will always be struggle and without struggle there is no progression. (sic) Please leave her alone and let the blessings she is offering outshine the public scrutiny she is facing."

Oprah can sleep peacefully knowing the guy from "2 Fast 2 Furious" is on her team!

17. All you critics of Oprah's generosity for these poor girs in South Africa make me sick.

Would you rather see them starved, raped, beaten or HIV positive for the rest of there lives. She is using her own money to help educated possible leaders 30 years from now.

We pay taxes in this country for theeducation of youth sin t his country and for schools, yet they are in shambles most of them.

Instead of critizing Oprah why not take the time to visit a classroom, go to a school board meeting, write a complaint letter on behalf of your tax dollars to your cit yansd state reps.

19. shame on anybody that thinks what Oprah has done isn't amazing. for those children to have a chance at a better education is a gift, of freedom and enpowerment. hopfully they are strict,that just means they care and want the children to suceed! (tough love is the best love)

You're first sic isn't write. Their should be someone who checks you're final product. When you criticize some one, you should no you're grammar. ("Is" should be conjugated to coincide with the singular "amount" not the plural "millionaires". "Millionaires" is the object of the preposition "of".)

21. Oprah probably knows as much of the Bible as I do; she knows God says to be a cheerful giver. If she is requiring 'more' than is acceptable, God will deal with her, so everyone else can rest easy!!! If she is making them (the girls) 'jump thru hoops', God will also deal with that. I am sorry for the jerk that wrote the note about Tyrese' grammar and spelling. I hope they are VERY careful and NEVER MAKE AN ERROR; of course, they will, and I hope people overlook it. The people that wrote THIS note obviously care about minor details more than character.

23. AMEN TYRESE!!! It amazes me how so many people have opinions as to how OPRAH should spend HER money. Everyone should do what they can!!!

I encourage everyone who have an opinion about Oprah's generosity to do a little research before you post statements. She has given to many organizations, families, etc., in this country. I know of two right of hand. She has donated millions to historically black colleges and universities, and habitat for humanity. This women is not perfect, and neither are any of the people bad-mouthing her.

She is a beautiful human being, and one of my greatest inspirations, not just because of her success, but because of all the many obstacles she had to overcome to become as successful as she is today.

Ya'll need to stop hating on Oprah, and start congratulating her!

24. Oprah, is the second most wealthiest female celebrity to exist. Her networt is one billion k. She is a beautiful woman with integrity. I love her because because she is a strong, warm-hearted human being that gives back to those in need. Alot of celebrities go to Africa to party but they do not build schools. Great job Oprah!

25. I think she is racist at least she makes it look like it.. Why can't she help the whites, too from what I heard Oprah, "whites makes more money than blacks". I don't understand, why would she say that look at her she makes a lot of it. I respect her a lot but why can't she help the white people. Obviously, she helps the BLACKS more than whites if you didn't notice that. I love what she is doing but I wish she would help whites, too...

27. Chris Finley you are an idiot! Yes, amount is singular, however 'millionaires' and 'billionaires' is plural which is why the correct wording would be "there are a staggering amount..."

28. Catholic School was very strict too,but the the results were pretty impressive. "MOST" kids who graduated from them turned out to be pretty decent adult.We got our butts kicked a lot , but we did the Sisters, Brothers and Priests proud,as I'm sure these young women will do Oprah !

29. There is no legitimate criticism that anyone can make concerning the academy "Ms. Oprah" has built in Africa, with her own money, to educate underprivileged girls in a 3rd world country. If successful, as these girls move up in grade and graduate new girls will be admitted to the academy. And, over time, Ms. Oprah through her academy and the free educations she is providing for hundreds (potentially thousands) of girls will no doubt change the whole African continent for the better. Truth be told, that is what her critics are really mad about. I mean honestly, how can anyone in his/her right mind criticize free education?

Gee...is this school in the United States (say New Orleans for a start), you remember don't ya poor little "molested" child...the country that you GOT ALL OF THE MONEY FROM IN THE FIRST PLACE ?!?!?!!? Oprah made a BIG show of handing out blankets from the steps of a private jet after hurricane Katrina and "POOOF" she was gone!! Never to be seen there again. I am SOOOOOOOOO tired of this woman playing God. Give of as was given from...here !! But at the very least, give the world a break from Oprah and her following gaggle of sheeplike worshipers “The Oprettes" and all of the nonsense that she spews.
