JT Disses the Grammys & Being a Pop Star

Justin TimberlakeWhatever you do, don't call Justin Timberlake the new King of Pop!

The 26-year-old former *NSYNC frontman tells Details magazine that on his first solo album, "I tried so hard to be an R&B artist and it was the pop album of the year, and I was like, 'F*ck. That's the last thing I wanted.'" Be careful what you wish for, JT.

Justin also has a bone to pick with the Recording Academy over the debacle that was this year's My Grammy Moment, which featured JT singing with contest winner Robyn Troup. Timberlake agreed to the performance before the concept was fully developed. When he realized it was turning into a pathetic "American Idol" knock-off, Justin wanted out. Timberlake says he wound up keeping his word, "Because I'm the nice guy who follows through on the things he commits to." Save, of course, Cameron Diaz.

Read the rest of Justin's gripes in the April issue of Details or at Details.com.

4. What's so wrong with pop? Despite the new sounds of his music, he may never be considered an R & B artist, especially since he still sounds like a popster when he sings and let's not forget he is a former mouseketeer!

So when did he turn agains pop? I remember when he did that large performance promiting POP music some years ago. It's not cool anymore? Or is it because he is getting older and he thinks R & B is the cool thing now?

5. And another thing, just because Justin is the IT guy right now in music doesn't mean he should go around dissing everybody. Just like he did Prince. I don't think he is at a level yet to do that. Still be successful with hit after hit for 30 more years, THEN MAYBE he can start dissing fellow legends (still would be tacky but...I'm just sayin')......

6. yeah, you always gotta be wary of the guy who says, "i'm the nice guy......" because nine times out of ten, he's an ass.

8. Justin needs to STFU, for real. Your album was recognized, period. For most artists that is a huge accomplishment, but not for him. He needs to fucking realize he will NEVER be R&B and he will always be pop, so deal with it. He doesn't have an R&B quality, whatsoever. Pop- R&B lite maybe. And shows what an ass he is if he can't perform with a girl who was most likely a fan of his. So much for being a humble nice guy.

11. What a egotistical, no talent bum! Go back to the Mickey Mouse Club you weasel. You are part of the reason why music is so disposable these days. You and the other prefabricated, cookie-cutter celebrities. Your 15 minutes should have elapsed long ago.

13. NO DOUBT! This guy is young, and extremely successful...... and all he can do is bash it! Talk about being thankful for what you get.....

14. STFU Justin. Nobody takes you seriously. And stop bashing American Idol.

15. Sorry Justin, but take whatever you can get. Your music is just ok - I can take it or leave it.

But your vocals will never be among the R&B giants like Johnny Gill, Luther VanDross, Bobby Womack or Brian McKnight. Even Hall & Oates will go down in history as great
R&B voices.
Stick to Pop -- that's where most of the average singers with one or two hits belong. Appreciate.
