"Undercover Brother" Crashes $1.5 Million Ferrari

3/27/2007 1:21 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Comedian Eddie Griffin saw his life (and his bank account) flash before his eyes Monday after he smashed a $1.5 million Ferrari Enzo into a concrete wall during a charity event at Irwindale Speedway, leaving the ultra-expensive sports car a smoking pile of twisted metal.

The high-speed collision, captured on tape by KCBS in Los Angeles took place during rehearsals for a charity event called "Race for a Cause." Griffin, who starred in "Undercover Brother" and "Norbit," left the crash scene in an ambulance, although he did not suffer any serious injuries and seemed to be in good spirits.

The luxury automobiles used in the charity event were part of a promotion for the film "Redline," a movie about the high-end world of high-performance sports cars.

well I guess Race against Drugs wont be hiring him anytime sooner

lol

As far as the crash test?
If he wasnt going that fast which he probably wasnt for it to fall apart that much is insane and they need to enhance something there

But again in the United States theres arent too many places to drive Enzo's on the street

The Enzo was initially announced at the 2002 Paris Motor Show with a limited production run of 349 units and priced at US$643,330. The company sent invitations to existing customers, specifically, those who had previously bought the Ferrari F40 and Ferrari F50. All 349 cars were sold in this way before production began. Later, after numerous requests, Ferrari decided to build 50 more Enzos, bringing the total to 399.

On November 8, 2005, Ferrari announced that it would build one additional Enzo, bringing the total to 400. The car, chassis #ZFFCZ56B000141920, was auctioned by Sotheby's Maranello Auction on June 28, 2005 to benefit survivors of the 2004 Tsunami for €950,000 (US$1,274,229), almost twice its list price. This sum was presented to Pope Benedict XVI, while Formula One driver Michael Schumacher gave the pope a steering wheel to commemorate the donation. This wheel included a plaque which read, "The Formula 1 World Champion's steering wheel to His Holiness Benedict XVI, Christianity's driver."

The Enzo Ferrari typically trades above $1,000,000 (£500,000) at auction.[1]

Three prototype "mules" were built, M1, M2, and M3. Each was bodied to look like a 348, even though the mules were built in 2000. The third mule was offered for auction alongside the 400th Enzo in June, 2005, bringing €195,500 (US$236,300).[2]

As for "racing for a cause," wouldn't it have been more effective to maybe auction off the car and donate the proceeds to a charity, instead of letting some comedian whom nobody has ever heard of crash and total it?

skeptical at best

i just saw the crash on the early show on cbs. i was laughing my ass off. first of all i thought it was weird b/c the turn looked really tight. like it wasn't made for a car. maybe i need to watch it again. but what was even funnier was after they finished showing the footage they come back to julie chen and the other guy. then they start to imitate the scene from undercover brother where he's driving with the drink in his hand. i thought that was pretty damn funny.
