Halle Berry: I Tried to Kill Myself

Halle Berry once tried to commit suicide when her marriage to former baseball star David Justice fell apart.

In an incredibly revealing interview with Parade magazine, Berry claimed that she tried to use exhaust fumes to take her own life, but thanks to a powerful vision, stopped at the last minute. "I was sitting in my car, and I knew the gas was coming, when I had an image of my mother finding me," Berry said. "She sacrificed so much for her children, and to end my life would be an incredibly selfish thing to do. It was all about a relationship. My sense of worth was so low. I promised myself I would never be a coward again."

During the interview, Berry also admitted that she underwent sex therapy with ex-husband #2 Eric Benet, an experience that she wishes she never had. "I was putting everyone's needs before mine." She kicked Benet to the curb in 2005.

Now, however, Halle's focus is clear -- the Oscar winner, who's currently dating 31-year-old model Gabriel Aubry, says she wants to be a mom, telling the magazine, "my sights are set on a different chapter of my life, which is motherhood. That's the goal I have very clearly set for myself."

31. Come to think of it, to hell with a David Justice. Kill yourself over him and leave all of those millions behind (and when there are so many other gorgeous men in the world) No way, baby!

32. Give credit where credit is due! I am happy for her and I think it is commendable for her to say publicly that she has considered suicide...this takes integrity and bravery to make such a personal statement...not matter how long ago she said it or how many times she says it! Halle is not the problem it’s black men. Most of them don’t know how to treat beauty, intelligence and success...it seems to be oblivious to them. Most of them (not all) have major issues with responsibility, accountability and loyalty when it is concerning personal relationships with women. I don’t blame Halle for choosing a different path to seek her happiness. She’s NOT crazy but human. I am glad she has now figured out the game! And don’t give me that BS that I don’t know.... because I am black and I know the positives and negatives of black men.

33. What a train wreck. This is old news. She came out with her "suicide" story a few years ago when the critics gave her new movie bad reviews. GROW UP!!!!!!

35. She is the perpetual victim... always rambling on about her problems. She always talks about her bad childhood, bad marriages, abuse... How about talking about the good things in your life? I am not saying that just because she is rich she has a perfect life but why not talk about the good things? It can't be all bad.

36. Confirmation that she is a psycho bitch!! Could all the men she has been with have been THAT BAD?! ! She always ends up leaving them in a psychotic rage. I hope all the men who get a chance at Halle know what they are getting into. All that glitters aint gold.

39. Come on, now. Aren't some of you being a little harsh? David Justice was her first husband and she reasonably assumed that it would last. Wasn't he the one who liked to pick up hookers?

42. Speak on it, Chicago!

43. Chicago - dont you think that it is a Parenting Issue rather than a Black Issue? I dont believe this occurence is more prevelent in the black community -- I believe it to be a problem in the poorer households (but not always! there is always an exception to the rule)
Children have to be taught what is right and wrong -- how to treat a women -- how to do everything, really.
Please educate me if you think my views are not on track........

As for Halle -- I admire her. No matter how many times you admit to something, does not mean that it is not real. Sure, she is doing interviews, etc.... to promote her new movie -- but did the interviewer ask her that same ol' questions again? We dont seem to know what her motives are at this point -- so I for one, would like to give her the benefit of doubt.

44. boo hoo! she felt sorry for herself, and was going to kill herself. but, didn't she really mess up some girl's back as a cause of the hit and run accident? did she try to kill herself then? she needs to take her inventory, stop wearing mini skirts (she is tooooo old), and get OVER HERself!
