"A.I." Finalists Fuming Over "Sanjaya Situation"

Sanjaya MalakarWhile most of the country may have fallen in love with "American Idol" wannabe Sanjaya Malakar, there is one group that is finding his growing popularity a tad irritating -- his fellow "A.I." contestants!

An inside source revealed exclusively to TMZ that some of the remaining "Idol" hopefuls are annoyed that the vocally-challenged 17-year-old continues to advance, while other "more talented" singers get sent home. We're told the contestants are not-so-much mad at Sanjaya, but at the situation, which finds websites like votefortheworst.com and satellite radio host Howard Stern urging fans to keep Sanjaya in -- simply as a joke.

American Idol Typecast: Click to view galleryWe're told the "Idols" don't find it funny, since it's their future being toyed with. Our source adds that the contestants find it troublesome that they all work so hard to pick the right song and rehearse each week, but it appears that all Sanjaya really has to do to move forward is to show up wearing a scrunchie.

TMZ contacted an "Idol" rep, who had no comment.

31. The rest of the AI contestants have the right to be pissed off. Sanjaya may start to believe that he has talent, which he definitely has none. He thinks he is cute, etc. that is why he is spoken about and covered by news media. To be written about and featured by the news media in a POSITIVE way is, of course, good---but this due is written about and mocked in the most NEGATIVE way...

If voting can be tainted due to Howard Stern's hideous objective to pull AI down---might as well exclude the public from voting and just let the judges vote next time!

It is totally disgusting to see and hear Sanjaya every week! Can't he volunteer to be shipped out to planet Pluto?

32. Umm...HELLO...This season should now be a revelation to anyone who is snowed over by how idol works. Think about something for a minute...shouldn't the top 24 finalists (chosen by the judges) be completely top notch vocalists? Well...they aren't because the judges are told by the producers that they must send through mediocre singers for "good tv."

Well, now that strategy is blowing up in their faces and I LOVE IT!! Votefortheworst.com has known that this is how it works for some time now, but the American Public is finally catching on. Hopefully, this will force Idol to change their ways and actually choose excellent singers from the get-go.

33. The same thing happened a few seasons ago with that wife-beater piece of trash, Scott Savol. He kept advancing due to a similar (maybe the same?) web site urging people to vote for him (as the worst). FINALLY, that stopped.

There should be a way for the judges to override the public's votes if it becomes obvious that the only reason a "bad" contestant is outlasting good ones is because of such a campaign. Otherwise, this show is worthless.

34. American Idol gets exactly what they deserve for putting this guy through to begin with. He was not close to being talented enough to move on to the top twelve. I wonder who they were trying to pacify.

35. Some of the other contestants will naturally complain but it's because many of them are boring to tell the truth. People like Leno and Ellen will want to interview Sanjaya no matter who the winner is. They pic songs and so does Sanjaya. He just gets much more attention than they do. Sanjaya is helping this season of A.I. because the other contestants are so lame.

36. Please everyone vote for this guy to win, then maybe American idol will learn not to put untalented people through to the top twelve anymore. Then they might not attempt to appease everybody in this country.

37. Not funny anymore?? Its bloody hilarious!! Especially since some people take this so freaking serious! In the whole scope of the world none of this crap matters, so to mess with those who think this is "serious business" is quite entertaining!

38. THIS IS NOT FUNNY, THE SHOW NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING THAT'S FOR SURE!

40. www.votesanjayaoff.com is a website that has been started by a radio station in Philadelphia, PA (Wired 96.5). A radio personality, Justice, is on the roof of a local car dealership, as a petition of Sanjaya still being on the show, and will stay there until Sanjaya is voted off of Idol. Philadelphia wants Sanjaya off Idol!!!!!

42. Get this kid out of there! Isn't there a clause where the judges can over rule America's vote? After all, they produce the first album. Let the real talent continue...get this cream puff out of the show.

43. I agree---it is wrong that good singers are leaving while Sangaya is staying. This is a singing competition. And Howard Stern may be disrupting things, but he isn't relevant enough to bring down any show. He should just try to save his own show.

44. Of course this is still funny. All the people fumming over this drag queen is hilarious. I hope he makes it all the way. Last summer the "Americas Got Talent Show" had they same type of guy on there. The show put him there just so he could be voted off. This is NOT a talent contest. It is a scam reality show.

Lets face it although there are more talented people on the show none of them is really star material. That is a fact. If this is all they can come up with VOTE FOR THE WORST.

45. Don't you guys get it? Thousands of contestants go through a weeklong process of auditioning (in the same stinky outfit no less) seeing several PRODUCERS who eventually select a very small number of contestants who get to see the real judges. Have you ever wondered why all the really horrible singers are totally awestruck when the judges tell them they are horrible? They are confused because numerous producers kept passing them through to the next round so they think they are awesome!!

Many wonderful singers are passed up because they may not be as "TV-worthy" as the crazies that they want for their "horrible auditions show." THUS, you can't blame the judges entirely, they must choose from whomever the producers sent to them, and I seriously doubt the producers are professional musicians.

Oh and at PJ: Calling is free. Texting costs money, but it doesn't cost to vote. I am sure it costs AI some dough though.
