Sanjaya's New Look: Orphan Chic

"American Idol" "singer" Sanjaya Malakar made his way to the Record Plant recording studio in Los Angeles on Saturday, looking like he'd lost his way from an alternative high school production of "Oliver."

Wearing a bucket cap, brass medallion, and charming black purse, the ponyhawked singer recorded some tracks for this week's show, which will feature crooner legend Tony Bennett.

That's right, Tony Bennett, 80, and Sanjaya -- sharing the same stage. In 2005, Bennett received a Kennedy Center Honor, but working with Sanjy has to be a career highlight.

38. oh my words.......this will be different......Tony Bennett and Sanjaya together....we will have agood laugh on this one......i can't wait till Sanjaya is send home and get on with the show .......he should have never been in the top 24 or 12 he should of when home with his sister......yes there are alot of young girls out there with there phones and they are making a different with keeping him on the show....so remember you have to vote to make it work and send Sanjaya home packing........Bye-bye

43. I shudder to think that we will get to watch and hear this bamboo stick with leech-like eyebrows dude this week! I think he purposely dresses up in a most stupid and bizarre look to gain attention. See what he is gaining?------free publicity even if they are i the most hideous and derogatory writeups. That only proves, to say, the least, that he is really stupid not to realize people are just making fun of him.
