Sanjaya Buzz In Music Biz

SanjayaTMZ has spoken with intensely connected sources in the recording industry about the Sanjaya craze, and it's turned the music biz on its ear.

We're told execs at Sony BMG (its 19 Recordings/RCA division records the winner of "Idol") are "really nervous." They now think Sanjaya could win the competition and worry that he's like the new Pet Rock -- the novelty will wear off and his records won't sell.

On the other side of things, we're told a number of songwriters in H-Wood are already quietly writing songs for one person and one person only in the competition -- yes, Sanjaya. As you read this story, musical notes are going up on pages all over the city -- notes Sanjaya probably can't hit.

16. Like talent really matters to the record industry. It's all about image and fan appeal. Teen girls love him and teen girls buy CD's.
He'll win, get some songwriters to give him a few jems, sell a million, end of story.

17. I think this is exactly what American Idol needs. the Show is getting washed up. they are calling these people " the best of the best" doesnt that kind of offend you as an American that they put these tards in the top 12 anyhow? so this is what they get. if they want to put tards in the top 12 i'll vote them to the top. It never fails, every single year there is someone who compleltely does not deserve to be on the show. this time people are tired of it. I hope Sanjaya wins. I think it would be hilarous to see the reactions of the judges and other contestats. No one is really good this year anyhow, why not Rig it? just my opinion.

18. Ok...#7, why would you vote for Sanjaya so many times? Do you really think he can sing? HE NEEDS TO GO TONIGHT, and I so agree he is believing his own press, so sad!!!!

19. Its just like last year with Taylor, My hubby kept saying it was a joke if he won people are just voting to make a joke out of him, like his cd's will sell.

22. I'm sure Tony Bennett was snickering the minute Sanjaya left the room. Shame he couldn't have snickered WHILE Sanjaya was in the room.

25. This is sad. This kid does have his place, but not this competition. Maybe Disney. But this kid is the one going to get hurt. What happens after his AI influence is done and he is thrown to the side. He's just a kid.Who's going to pick him up after this is all over. No one is really going to care, not his fnas,Stern or AI.What about his parents? Can't they see that he is being used?

26. Well, I think it's sad that the youngest contestant on the show this year is being so ridiculed in the media. I mean, come on texasrocker, you really think his ego's blown up? I doubt it. For godsake! he's got to know that there's a website called vote for the worst and he's their prime candidate. I wonder if everyone just wants to see if they get enough voters to vote for him, and if he doesn't get any further, is it rigged? I've wondered sometimes if your votes are mearly a money disposal....

27. Your comments: I don't like Sanjaya, however I think he has talent. If
he didn't, he
wouldn't have gotten through to the top 24. Anything after the top 24
doesn't matter because America is responsible for that ... but to get
that far was by the judges. He got past Simon ... and this was before
his "character" became vital to the show. He is a 17 year old boy and
is obviously getting some bad advice from someone. I feel sorry for
him. The boy can sing ... he just choses not to every week. Does
anyone remember his audition? Even during these recent performances
there is always one part of the song that stands out and I find
myself saying "Sing like that!!" ...

AI is a travesty, whether or not
he wins. Seriously, was Taylor the most deservant? How about Ruben?
... It's a reality show ... not a talent search. Period.

30. You know, Lakisha and Melinda are great and so are the Jordin, Blake and Chris, but the thing about American Idol is that it really is not about the best singer. Part of the hazard or risk of going on a show like this is that you are at the mercy of the public. I don't know why people expect the "best" to win. The best candidate for president doesn't always win either. Everytime there's a public vote, you get what you get. It doesn't make it a joke. If Sanjaya wins, the world isn't going to implode people. Nor is it the end of the show. In fact, if he wins and makes records, he'll probably do just fine. Right now he isn't really putting himself out there. His audition was really good. He's still a teenager and not one of those "old souls" like maybe Jordin or Diana DeGarmo so give him time. I can't believe how mean people are about him.
