Sanjaya TMZ has spoken with intensely connected sources in the recording industry about the Sanjaya craze, and it's turned the music biz on its ear.

We're told execs at Sony BMG (its 19 Recordings/RCA division records the winner of "Idol") are "really nervous." They now think Sanjaya could win the competition and worry that he's like the new Pet Rock -- the novelty will wear off and his records won't sell.

On the other side of things, we're told a number of songwriters in H-Wood are already quietly writing songs for one person and one person only in the competition -- yes, Sanjaya. As you read this story, musical notes are going up on pages all over the city -- notes Sanjaya probably can't hit.

61. I think it is hilarious. The panal picked Sanjaya as the feak show talant that the public would eliminate early. RATINGS is the name of the game. He is clearly the worst and Voted for him last night. LOL..
He won't win but face it thet there are only two or three with talant. Jordin Sparks shows the most promise. Supper Star? Is there anyone in the contest? Sanjaya could make it to at least the top three. American Idol is a joke and America is playing along. All of you so serious fanatics. I laugh at you.

62. This is my first year of watching AI from beginning to end and it may be my last. If Melinda, Jordin or Lakiesha go before Sanjaya, that's it for me. I believe he, (or those around him )planted that cute little, innocent girl in pigtails that cried in the audience. No 13 year old girl that I know of in 2007 looks or acts that way. I would be bet that that kid is a card carrying member of SAG. You go, Melinda. I vote for you multiple times. You're the best.

63. i finally got to hear this kid last night and he does indeed suck. i think howard stern is a genius for getting his fans to vote for him. the funniest part to me is that simon loves him. simon obviously needs a hearing aid. sanjaya is going to win and the fact that everyone bitches about him just adds fuel to his media fire. the hunger strike thing really got the ball rolling, and i think after sanjaya wins, he should buy "J" something nice.

64. Well you can thank Howard Stern and votefortheworst.com for this. As a joke Howard told his listeners to vote for Sanjaya... I’m just outraged by this... There are others on the show that deserve a chance to win, he doesn’t. I think the producers should step in at this point or even better Sanjaya needs to wake up and realize that he is a complete joke and vote himself off the show… If he wins, I will boycott the show…

65. Come on. How many intensely popular pop stars have there been throughout the years who can't sing? Way too many to count. And for what it's worth, I would way rather listen to Macy Gray or Madonna or Bob Dylan or any other "non-singer" than I would Carrie Underwood or Kelly Clarkson or those other American Idols.

70. I don't hate this kid, but I do hate American Idol. I watch it faithfully. Those of you saying you will never watch again are lying. You love it. You love having someone to trash. You will miss Sanjaya when he is gone. I know I will not buy a cd from any of these contestants and you probably won't either. Why don't you just pop some corns and sit back and enjoy.

71. The judges voted to keep this kid in the top 24. It seems that the many negative comments I have read about this kid are from prejudice people. These people are blaming the entire subcontinent of India for voting Sanjaya in the competition. Most people in India don't even have television - India is still a third world country. I don't believe they care much of American Idol at all. Even here in America most Indians don't vote for this kid simply because these people work too much and they don't have time for this kind of stupidity. I found this out yesterday when I was in a Dunkin Donut Store and spoke to some Indians that were their eating. To my surprise very few have actually heard of this guy. I know that eventually most Indians will hear about this kid but as far as participating in voting this kid in the competition is highly improbable. They are just to busy working to make ends meet. Also it seems like most of these people bashing this Sanjaya kid have forgotten that he is also half-Italian. I suspect (because I don't know it for a fact) that most of these people who vote for Sanjaya are Americans - I for one voted for this kid because he is pure entertainment. Some say it is mostly teens and pre-teens but I don't think so. It is all ages that votes for this kid. AI is the most popular show on earth and it will continue to be so. I bet most people who claim to have stopped or are thinking of stopping watching the show are kidding themselves. These people will continue to watch AI this year and the following years to come. Why? Because it is entertaining and thats why we watch it. It might frustrate us when the contestant we are rooting for to win gets kicked out but this part of the entertainment. So I don't believe at all that AI will loose it popularity.

75. Sanjaya is a genius. He is so on another plane, your little pea brain can't handle it.

The best thing for the conventional talent on American Idol to do is get out of the way of the Sanjaya entertainment steam roller. If they don't they will be crushed by his massive talent.

If you are going to cast one vote for an American Idol make sure it is for Sanjaya. Because you don't want to be a loser.
