Gay Fairy Tale Weddings OK at Disneyland

Disney Fairy Tale Weddings and HoneymoonsStunning news from the Happiest Place on Earth today: Disney brass has decided that all people, both gay and straight, are now welcome to purchase the "Fairy Tale Wedding" package at Disneyland and on Disney cruise ships.

Per the AP, "The company said it made the change after being contacted by a gay couple who wanted to use the wedding service, which offers ceremonies at Disneyland in California, Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and Disney's cruise ships."

(Memo to Bob Iger: Synergy opportunity! Ordain Isaiah Washington as a Universal Life Minister, and let the healing begin!)

To tell the truth, we're disappointed, but not for the reasons you might think.

Yes, of course, we're dispiritedly bracing for the inevitable hateful and disgusting harangues from the lunatic fringe of talk radio, wherefrom disparaging and offensive punchlines will emanate.

And we're not looking forward to it, but have come accept the inexorable truth that for Bill Donohue or some other religious fulminators, Disney's decision is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to decry another rending of the fabric of American moral this or that.

Yes, we're even prepared for the South Park-ing of this uniquely fraught cultural war moment.

But really, what disappoints us most is that shows like "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" and "The L Word" had fraudulently lead us to believe that gay people are inherently more fashionable and stylish than heterosexuals. The fact that an actual gay couple actually wanted to use Disneyland as the location of their nuptials contravenes such a noble postulate.

There is one bright spot: At last, we truly are all equal -- if only in our tackiness.

61. Your friends never called you a fool, but I never claimed to be your friend now, did I?? lol
Putting God in the same catefory as zuzu and the tooth fairy is...I can't think of a appropriate responce to that one so I won't say anything...
Congrats on owning a Stongs concordance. That is an excellant help mate with reading your Bible. I hope you do both. There is also an excellant computer concordance available.
I agree this is too broad a subject for this little chat room, so I guess this is the end of our lively conversation. Just remember, not all those ' thousand's of Christian denominations" speak the truth. There is only ONE person to go for that. It still troubles me Disney has caved in to the world, but it doesn't mean we have to. God bless you.

62. I am not suprised...look at what Disney has for our kids to watch now days in comparison to the nice shows they had for us when we were kids. I loved to watch Disney with my parents as a kid on sundays at 7. I still remember. NOW WHAT!!!!
Old man disney is rolling in his grave over this one!!!!!! Disney totally messed up lots of kids that worked for them as children. Look at Britney Spears!!! what an example.
Go away Disney, you are adding to the demoralization of our youth.

63. I thnk Mr Walt would have done the same thing. I think he stood for equality, happiness, without being a 'fake Christian'. The US is alive with 'fake Christianity', I hope I can be a real Christian, loving, unjudging, only God is judge, jurour. So..who wants to get married...???:)

64. I do believe I'm a Christian, accepted the Lord as my savior many years ago. That all being said... I will also state I am not a bible reading Christian so dont' know versus to quote. I do believe thou... If God is our heavenly FATHER.... as a mother that means to me... sometimes we agree with our children and sometimes we dont'.... sometimes our children hurt us with things they do as we did our parents. But, if he's my heavenly FATHER he loves me UNCONDITIONLY ( as I do my children ). We are ALL children of this earth. It's hard enough to find love and a relationship so if 2 people, gay or lesbian, black or white find love LEAVE them alone and let them live their life without hate and prejudice.

I'm sure just like my wedding ceremony will be private to the public on the Carnival ship in July, any wedding is open only to family and friends so it shouldnt' effect your children. If your children do see 2 gays ( which they are going to see eventually in life ) then explain to them, that this is not what you believe but this is the world and people of the world today.

We all need to let go of our predjudices.

66. It is hard for companies to stand up to those who judge others. I think this move is one in the direction of good morality - for a change - treating people equally. All minorities have been judged by others as immoral at some point in history. Let's get over it folks.

67. This is a disgrace to the sanctity of marriage as stated in the Holy Bible. Marriage is between a man and a woman. They are not Gay, they are homosexuals plain and simple. Gay use to meam happy, merry, brilliant in color. These people also defile a family name and in this society, people can not even speak their family name and not get made fun of. Let them get their fairy tale wedding somewhere else. Walt Disney would be turning over in his grave if he knew of this decision. I and my family WILL NOT be spending our hard earned money to support this decision.

69. I applaud Disneyland for being so morally upright! We are slowly but gradually moving towards a world of loving, fair people who do not believe that others should be excluded or looked down upon. God is proud! Those who hate, judge, and demean....they are the ones who are on moral decline! Disney continues to be a loving utopia, who accepts all. Our own little piece of heaven on earth. I have, and always will love Disney!

70. THIS IS SO VERY WRONG! GOD HELP US ALL! WHAT ARE WE TEACHING OUR
CHILDREN! GOD LOVES EVERYONE! WE AE ALL HIS CHILDREN! That's why, as
our Father, God gave us instruction through His Holy Word. He tells
us thru His Word what is right and what is wrong! Sin is sin! No
human being is or was without sin except for Jesus Christ! IN GOD'S
HOLY WORD HE PLAINLY STATES THAT HOMOSEXAULITY IS AN ABOMINATION! We
all, including me, will answer to God Almighty for our sins, all of
our sins! We answer for those sins we do in the privacy of our own
homes and for those sins we commit in PUBLIC we will also be held
accountable for the harm against others that our sins cause as well!
From the beginning, in the Garden of Eden, when Adam and Eve chose to
sin all generations thereafter were effected, but God made us with the
ability to choose, to stop the cycle of sin thru obedience to Him! How
will this choice, this decision harm us and the generations to come.
We are deceiving ourselves if we say being gay is okay and just look
the other way. Looking the other way is what has allowed alot of
ungodly things to take place and "be the norm" in our society!

Get an education. Why can't you just keep to yourself......hmmmm?

72. Who is anyone to judge another? Isn't it up to God to sit in judgement and not any person? What people who are moral are to do is accept others, it doesn't mean you have to follow suit! Being gay is who a person is, doesn't mean it is who you are. Disney is following that type of acceptance!

73. Can only say how disappointed I am that this one time family place has become the location for such political game wars! They can KEEP their park.

74. Disney anything is off our list now. We are not going to give them any more money. Can't believe they are going against traditional family values. Its very sad.

75. Gosh, I am so sick of the notion that people cannot disagree with something without being labeled a bigot, homophobe, prejudiced, insert demeaning phrase here.

I personally am very against gay marriage. However, I have never stated that I find homosexuals to be disgusting, imbecilies, sad excuses for human beings, less than human. I just believe that homosexual marriage should not be allowed. And for that one simple fact, I am some bible-beating lunatic.

I said it before, and will say it again. This is all about a sense of entitlement. Before, all Disney was doing was enforcing what is legal. If a bartender will not serve an underage gay person, is he discriminating? No, because he is only enforcing what is legal. Will Disney offer commitment ceremonies for two 15 year olds? A man and his donkey? A 45 year old man and his 12 year old partner? No, because they are/were in the business of offering legal marriages. I am not 100% current on Florida law, but my guess is that both gay marriages and civil unions are not certifiably legal. Correct me if I am wrong.

I think that gay people have a very skewed sense of discrimination. I am white, but if you look at what black people went through many years ago, THEY know what discrimination is: segregated schools, sitting in the back of the bus, being turned away at restaurants. Gay people cannot be turned away for jobs, refused service at restaurants, denied transportation, denied housing, targeted by police simply for the fact that they are gay. Those kinds of things are discrimination. To claim Disney's offering of weddings to only legally marryable people is a low blow to anyone who has ever been discriminated against.
