Bonaduce: "I Don't Want a Divorce -- This Sucks A$$"

TMZ has confirmed that Danny Bonaduce's wife has begun divorce proceedings. On the Adam Carolla Show this morning, Danny revealed that his wife Gretchen sent him a letter informing him that he will soon be served with divorce papers.

The Bonaduces, who met on a blind date, have been married since 1990. Their recent troubles and Danny's struggle with substance abuse, were broadcast on the reality show "Breaking Bonaduce." Danny confirmed to TMZ that while "Yes, this is happening," he says that it is absolutely not what he wants. "I don't want a divorce," he said. "This sucks ass."

Danny, for his part, will celebrate one year of sobriety on April 18.

A rep for the Bonaduces confirms that Gretchen has begun divorce proceedings. In a statement to TMZ, he says "Even though they still care about each other and their 2 children, Gretchen felt it wasn't a great atmosphere to raise the kids."

16. I'm surprised she lasted as long as she has with his butt!!! I watched the show and at times, he was just ridiculous! I mean, we're all special in our own way. Perhaps by sharing himself with organizations that help other people with their problems, or volunteer to big brother/sister ( I think he did that on the show?) Anyway, maybe if he surrounds himself with those less fortunate or others who are keeping sober maybe that will let him see that he can share his life with others and be more positive, do more positive things to help ease his own pains and or hurts. Divorce is terrible, especially if you've been together for years and have small children who may not understand. Gretchen, from what I see, has probably had enough of his whining about himself ALL THE TIME!! I know I got tired of it just by watching the show!!! ;0) It was always 'Me, Me, Me' and what can you do to help ME!"

Good luck and put a more positive spin on your life DB! Life is Great! Stop complaining and enjoy it with your children!!!!

20. Honestly, is anyone shocked? I admit that watching Breaking Bonaduce was one of my guilty pleasures. I used to say to myself, "Why doesn't she leave him?" THen I realized, she will finish the show, for the $$$ then annouce that she is leaving him. I am not one bit surprised. I am however, very sad for his kids. They both seem very close to him, especiall his daughter. She will probably be in and out of rehand for the rest of her life as she follows in Daddy's footsteps.

21. Danny. Use your powers for good, not evil. If she leaves, maybe he can get the help he needs. It's easier to focus and blame her for his horrible attitude. But you can't help but love Danny. Please love yourself Bonaduche!

24. I'm glad that he's finally sober for an extended period of time.
But I'm also sure that over their years together the damage has already been done.
Sometimes you can't fix things.
And sometimes it's just better to let it all go and move on with your life.

25. Please, do you really think she will divorce him, Come On, It's just a scam to get ratings on his radio show. People will tune in just to hear him pretend to break down on the radio. He knows his ratings are way low and the next ratings will be coming out soon so he has to do something drastic to keep his job. The show he had was completely staged and his wife was in on everything. I use to be a fan but came to see that he was just a fake.

26. Ahhh, this is SAD! She is one tough woman and has endured through so much. I was really pulling for them. I just hope that he keeps it together for their precious children! Best wishes for this family.

27. Gretchen, your absolutely doing the wrong thing. Let no one say you didn't try and those kids don't need to be growing up around someone as clueless and out of control as he is. I hope he stays sober and his attaining that status is awesome, but he is and always will be a train wreck in one sense or another. Stay strong.

30. Wow! It took her that long to get to this point. That poor woman has been through hell and back - how the heck did she put up with it? She is beautiful, intelligent and can find a REAL man to take care of her. One that wont cheat on her every night. Good for her!
