Casualty of Don? Deirdre Imus Ditches Book Tour

This won't be a pleasant week in the Imus household.

TMZ has learned that Deirdre Imus, wife of Don, has bailed out of two high-profile live appearances on "The View" and "The Martha Stewart Show," in the wake of Don's "nappy-headed ho" slur that has caused a national furor.

In fact, the whole book tour's been nixed.

A rep for Deirdre's publisher, Simon & Schuster, says that the entire promotional tour for "Green This! Volume One: Greening Your Cleaning," which was timed to coincide with the book's debut yesterday, has been postponed indefinitely. "Because of the pressure that the Imus family has been under," says the rep, "family is her first priority at this time."

This morning, several major advertisers pulled their ad dollars from the Imus show, and he's been suspended for two weeks from CBS Radio and MSNBC for his unseemly remarks about the Rutgers University women's basketball team.

47. again....here is another example of " Selective Targeting " on issues of Race,....where is the " Out Cry " against Adultery...Jesse Jackson...who has a Bastard Child.....( sounds rough doesn't it ) but the term is correct....and we are talking about a Reverend....people smeared Jimmy Swagart who was caught with a prositute...Sharpton who jumps on the Race band wagon any chance he can get.....he was Wrong to place his daugther as a prop in his interview with Imus...it only served to provoke people to fight...not make peace.....he should be a peace maker......it's seems people thrive on throwing rocks....whoever is " Without Sin " they can throw the stones.....the man sincerely apologized and states he is going to do what he can to make it up.....why the " White Lynching "?

48. #43 I agree with some of what u r saying. The basketball players did not know who is was until someone mentioned it. But as far as blacks saying "bitches, and ho's. Never has been acceptable to me as a black woman and alot of the woman I know. Think about it. They r selling CD's left and right and even the white kids listen to the music. White kids r sagging thier pants and wearing 2 earrings in their ear. Rap and Hip Hop is a culture thing not a race thing. Not sure if the non blacks buying the CD's r laughing when they listen or r just enjoying what we older ppl. don't understand as being passed off as music.

49. Don Imus is not Chris Rock! When was the last time Imus headlined at a comedy show.
The guy has Congressman, Senators, Presidential canidates, etc... on his show. When I go to a stand up comic show I expect to hear JOKES! Rodney Dangerfield, Jerry Seinfield, and Ralphie May have all made black jokes and they don't catch heat for it. Why? Because they are comedians and they don't make it personal. Imus called a specific group of girls, who attend Rutgers, WHORES! How is that entertainment?

51. Of course she doesn't want to go on the view, Elizabeth said IMUS should be fired.

I think IMUS has been asking for it for years, hes a grumpy mean old man. But I don't think hes a racist and he shouldn't be fired.

IMUS deserved the beating hes gotten the last couple of days, because I just don't like him. But I think its time to give it a rest, get over it already. Those girls acted like they were going to be scared for life or something, they don't even know who Imus is. GET OVER IT ALEADY, STICKS AND STONES.

You make a good point. The WHITE kids are LISTENING to it and if its not stopped by the BLACK community now =how can the black community be angry with the white community growing up with the BLACK rappers music in their ears??????ITS a bigger problem than IMUS.

53. Where was Al & Jessie when Rush Limbaugh made fun of disabled people?? Did they call for him to be fired?? Or when Ann Coulter call the 9-11 widows happy bitches who wanted their husbands dead...no they only crawl out from under their rocks when they think they can get on the tv. Their self serving agendas are not doing the basketball team any favors. it just race divides.

55. Imus just got booted from MSNBC simulcast...........

56. What Imus said was infantile.....But this issue has finally come to the fore front....The Black Community has had disrespect for it women forever. Rap singers and comedians and even men on the street treat their women with this foul referencing. The Black Community has to address this disrespect that its women are protrayed with. They must elevate there Standards. No on should be allowed to say the unrepeatable slurrs. Not the Black Community or others. You can not ask other to have higher Standards then you own Community has. I can say this about women of my race but you can't .. That is a double standard. If it is to stop , it has to stop in the music, rap, comedians and the men in the community. I have even heard women of the black Community address other women this way. We are supposed to be an educated civilized people, but yet we degrade . Imus beg these young Ladies for their forgivness. What you said was painful. But you are a good man , your tongue slipped to your disadvantage.

57. Sharpton and Jackson have nothing to do with him being a bigot. Neither do rappers or Black comedians or any other excuse you can make. HE was wrong! Period, end of discussion.

58. I agree with the bulk of the blogs, Imus and his gang are great. It is a very smart, very over the top show, and his charity to his many causes show his heart and never forgets the less fortunate. In his 20 hours per week of off the cuff remarks, he crossed the line. He's done everything to make it right. Apologized, Sharpton's show (a mistake I believe, giving him credibility), meeting with the Rutger's Women Basketball team. He stated he will change the tone of his show going forward (that is a shame too, it is what made it so fun), and taking his two week suspension with grace.

Yet, the PC Gang will have none of this other than to get him fired. They all have a political agenda other then the fake outrage over the incident. His "friends" on the A list media and politico's are leaving like rats on a ship. A few, like some of the News reporters politicians, and other A lists are sticking by him (Rosey being one of them), but the bulk is leaving.

It is a shame, for the world of entertainment and political discussion will be a loss for it. And so will the many charitable endevors he supports. Imus, the best to you.

59. I know he has political people on but he also has regulars that do comedy bits he is a shock jock. he makes fun of everybody, calls hilirary the devil and worse.. he makes fun of every race. Yes he said he is sorry and yes he needs to change. but so does a lot of things. and I have written to the sponsers that have dropped him. and CBS & MSNBC. They are the ones that are making this worse. And making the divide bigger.

60. Has the black woman who accused the LaCross players of rape apologized?

Jackson/Sharpton are troublemakers--they are egomaniacs and I don't understand why blacks put up with it! .
