Casualty of Don? Deirdre Imus Ditches Book Tour

This won't be a pleasant week in the Imus household.

TMZ has learned that Deirdre Imus, wife of Don, has bailed out of two high-profile live appearances on "The View" and "The Martha Stewart Show," in the wake of Don's "nappy-headed ho" slur that has caused a national furor.

In fact, the whole book tour's been nixed.

A rep for Deirdre's publisher, Simon & Schuster, says that the entire promotional tour for "Green This! Volume One: Greening Your Cleaning," which was timed to coincide with the book's debut yesterday, has been postponed indefinitely. "Because of the pressure that the Imus family has been under," says the rep, "family is her first priority at this time."

This morning, several major advertisers pulled their ad dollars from the Imus show, and he's been suspended for two weeks from CBS Radio and MSNBC for his unseemly remarks about the Rutgers University women's basketball team.

92. Imus work on someone else syndication and Jesse Jackson dosen't. Rev. Al Sharpton is doing what he should do and others should follow his lead. You may not like Rev. Sharpton, like some may not like you. Do you care? Do you think he cares if you do not agree with him? Everyone is not going to agree 100 percent on anything and that why this Country is a democracy. We all shall forgive, however, we should not say it's okay and move on. We should say we forgive and make sure it dosen't happen again. However, a racist with no common sense or sense of common decency is capable of understanding that their is a time and place to express your personal opinions and it is not on someone else dime or livelyhood. A pimp Rev. Sharpton is not, and Rev. Sharpton is not going to lay down his fight for equality for all. Yes, I say all because one day nobody is going to be one particular race just different shades of color. Imus should apologize and if's for those offended to except or not. If you think an apology from Imus was enough then that's well and good. I don't know him and don't watch nor listen to his shows. But, I have to wonder did he apology because that's what was expected of him? My thought, when I looked at him was, "Wow", "He should lay low with an opinion on someones look". Readers what do you think about his appearance.

98. How sad to see a huge company like MSNBC running scared from a race rabble rouser like Al Sharpton. This piece of Cr-- has ignited more problems between the races than Satan.
Well MSNBC sorry to say this will be your loss, maybe now you can give trouble maker Sharpton Imus's time slot and let that creep get up a 4 AM and try to have some intelligent conversations with interesting people. I would suggest TUWANNA BRAWL be his first guest.

99. Pre-incident, Imus has given to charity, been ireverent, been fired and has also discussed racial -- not just black and white, but also the American Indian. To quote "Despite being in the middle of a media maelstrom, Don Imus moved forward with his commitment to charity work. He hosted the 18th annual WFAN Radiothon before his suspension went into effect. The fund-raiser benefited the Imus Ranch, the Tomorrows Children’s Fund, and the CJ Foundation for SIDS. Since 1990 Imus has championed children's health charities, raising money for research into pediatric cancer and sudden infant death syndrome, and construction of a Don Imus/WFAN Pediatric Center for Tomorrow’s Children at the Hackensack (New Jersey) Medical Center." Well, Sharpton, Jackson and Obama stand in judgement like good Christians. I just wanted to add my piece, I think he had an abnormally bad brain fart, particularly odious............ hmm I have had those myself -- regards Bruce

101. The best thing Deirdre could for everyone is wash Don's mouth out with her new soap!

102. Don Imus made a mistake, big deal. Sharpton and Jackson were quick to jump all over that! I for one, am not going to watch msnbc and will no longer buy any products from any sponsors and will, by word of mouth, encourage my friends and family to do likewise. I am dropping my amex and paying off my gm accounts. Imus had a good informative show and he deserved a second chance. So, Mr. Capus, so long from one who kept my tv on msnbc 24-7.

103. I agree...

1. What Imus said was stupid and inexcusable, but for Sharpton and the usual bunch of race-baiting poverty pimps to have gotten involved is reprehensible. Since when is an apology not enough?

Posted at 2:17PM on Apr 12th 2007 by WHO knows???

104. This is unbelievable. Sharpton and Jackson are two of the most dishonest disgusting men alive.

Posted at 2:18PM on Apr 12th 2007 by WHO knows???

105. I think I'll search the Imus ranch site and see if I can replace my Proctor and Gamble products with Deirdre's.
