MSNBC You Later Imus

ImusMSNBC just announced it will no longer simulcast Don Imus' radio show.

In a statement to TMZ, MSNBC says "Effective immediately, MSNBC will no longer simulcast the "Imus in the Morning" radio program. This decision comes as a result of an ongoing review process, which initially included the announcement of a suspension. It also takes into account many conversations with our own employees. What matters to us most is that the men and women of NBC Universal have confidence in the values we have set for this company. This is the only decision that makes that possible. Once again, we apologize to the women of the Rutgers basketball team and to our viewers. We deeply regret the pain this incident has caused."

An FCC spokesperson has confirmed to TMZ that they have received complaints about Imus' remarks, but downplays media reports that they have launched an investigation.

770. Why is it that someone can say whatever they want about Christians or the Right but whenver some idiot on the radio says something stupied but it happens to be about a specific group then all the sudden free speach is out the window.....I hope the NAACP takes up mr Imus's case.....his rights are under attack....even though he is an idiot.

771. Could someone list a complete list of sponsors that pulled out? If someone could compile this list I would really appreciate it. Thank you! Jen

772. Why wasn't Imus warned first? msnbc just added 30 minutes of air time, and Dan Abrams sent Imus a letter telling him how much his ratings were up and to "keep up yhe good work" The man who could put a book on the best seller list (ask Tim Russet and Tom Brokaw) and pass bills our government couldn't get through could have turned his mistake into a huge opportunity to change racial hurts on BOTH side in a way that Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson haven't bothered to do. Now the voice has been silenced and his audience taken away. Who won? One of the MANY things I loved about Don was his unconditional loyalty to people regardless. Too bad his friends didn't do likewise. Guess Brian Williams doesn't think he'll be much of a morale booster in Iraq anymore. And we are trying to tell another country how to treat people with different views. What a joke. I'm done with msnbc and nbc. I'llget my news elsewhere.

773. ARE PEOPLE FORGETING THE AUDIENCE THAT WAS BEING POLICTICALLY EDUCATED BY THIS MAN AND HIS CALL IN CONTRIBUTORS? DOES FIRING IMUS CHANGE PEOPLES ATTITUDES. NO. IT REMOVES THEM FROM THE CHANCE TO BE CHANGED BY HIS "AWAKENING", LET ALONE TO A CERTAIN EXTENT BECOMING FURTHER EDUCATED POLITICALLY. WHAT A WASTE OF A PLATFORM. AND P.S. SOMEONE NEEDS TO SING AMAZING GRACE TO AL SHARPTON AND THE REV JACKSON. MAYBE THEY FORGOT THE WORDS AND MEANING.

774. so much for freedom of speech? i admit what he called the rutgers' basketball team was uncalled for.

i am so tired of seeing jackson and sharpton jump on any racial bandwagon though -- they live on that. go concentrate on acheiveing lower pregnancy and drop our rates.

could you imagine what it would be like if the white's got a decidated white history month or a white parade? that would be called prejudice. what a double standard.

775. Why aren't Sharpton and Jackson apologizing to those three young lacrosse players and their families. Why isn't the supposed "rape victim" apologizing? Why didn't Tawanna Brawley apologize for her "made-up" story? Imus made a mistake, but he is no different than anyone else, and his punishment was too harsh. Does anyone out there realize that he (Imus) has young cancer patients staying out on his ranch so that they can have some sort of decent life. Will Sharpton and Jackson do these things?
C'mon America, let's worry about truly bad things that are going on, and not these petty little things.

776. Steve Capus caved in and let a wonderful opportunity for opening a much needed dialogue to begin. Tim Russert, David Gregory et al. continoued to appear on the show and now Don Imus is a pariah. Capus broke his pledge to let Don come back to the show with a different format. I would have loved to see him interview all the previoius guests he has had and hear how they would solve the racial issues we are encountering An NBC White Paper on this issue is sorely needed.

777. msnbc should be ashamed to fire a man for saying something so stupid. I do not know mr. Imus but he is no bigot. To fire him before the charity event is about the lowest you can stoop. having all his guest, who used him, all day humiliate him is disgusting. I am a female & forgive him.

778. Oh you are a female and you forgive him???? And your race happens to be what? And your hair texture?? So.............was he even referring to you???

780. To White American Citizen - Message #752: I hope you get to read this response to your message. First I want to thank you for your candor and honesty, and second, I want to say I am with you on this matter of Imus and his firing and the rap music industry that promotes its own brand of racism, and the enitre black community of people who think white people will put up with the nonsense anymore. They better realize they might be causing another civil war - but not one to save them but to re-opress them. I will boycott and block in any way I can that is within my realm of possibility, any product, ad campaign, show or shows, and those infamous duo of Jackson-Sharpton and anyone or thing that promotes their activity. I agree with your views on rap music.

W.A.C. - I am a white American public school teacher - a very seasoned one at that. Believe me when I say that I've seen our society slowly drift to the bottom of the societal abyss in the name of rap music and its (current) grasp on today's youth. My heart breaks for what I see on a daily basis. The black community in the name of their rights have infringed upon our great nation and twisted the words of the nation's forefathers to suit their own ends. That too will come back to haunt them since they still feel they have to use slavery as their reference point for THEIR single-minded caucus. It's high time they got over it.

W.A.C. - Another way to unhinge some of the damage caused by this reversal of racism is to make sure that you get the word out to as many people as possible not to watch shows that are in anyway connected with things you don't like - like rap music. I no longer watch Oprah - who as we all know has made her billions from the purses of white bread American women. That money only goes to help Africa - and only Africa (and herself and her friends/family). I no longer watch any shows she is affiliated with either - and there are too many to mention. I do not buy products that focus attention on anything I feel infringes upon my rights as a citizen of this country and that promote things I DO NOT believe in be it Oprah or any other that makes me feel less than I should about myself or my country.

I am an American and an American teacher who still has the power to influence the positivity and pride that was once the driving force in our great land. I will try to the very best of my ability to teach the children of this country that swells me with pride to work for it in spite of those who work against me. I no longer feel I fight for its freedom from outside negativity. I feel there is so much negativity right here, right here in the filthy lyrics of rap music that is allowed to seep into the young minds of our trusting children. You and the rest of this country would be stunningly surprised at how weak our American children are. And to allow them to be so overexposed to the possibilites wrought by the music industry that pollutes the ariways far more than any shock jock ever could, is ignorant.

As for the holier that thou Reverands Jackson and Sharpton. Well, if they really are believers, then they also know that they will answer to a higher power for the dirty deeds.

Keep the faith. Live well, live strong.

S - another White American Citizen
