Celebrity Justice
Actor Will Plead Guilty to Manslaughter

TMZ has learned former "Prison Break" star Lane Garrison will plead guilty to manslaughter.

Garrison, who has been charged with vehicular manslaughter in connection with the death of a Beverly Hills high school student last December, showed up this morning with his lawyer, Harland Braun, at the Beverly Hills courthouse. Garrison was scheduled to enter a plea, but Braun asked for a continuance.

TMZ spoke with Braun after the hearing. The mega-lawyer said Garrison will plead guilty on May 21. Braun added "There is no sentencing bargaining going on." The judge will have complete discretion, which means Garrison faces a maximum of six years in prison.

Braun said "Lane is very sad about the accident," adding Garrison told him this morning: "People are going to Iraq to risk their lives for our country and [I] am simply facing punishment for something [I] have done." Braun adds Lane wants to step up and accept the sentence.

Braun said he is waiting for engineers to come back with reports on whether there was a mechanical defect that contributed to the accident. Braun said the brakes may have been defective and the vehicle may have gone in on a recall before the accident. If brakes contributed to the acccident, that could affect Garrison's sentence.

Cops say Garrison's blood alcohol level was .20, more than twice the legal limit.

31. I agree with your comment lmk0036. What nerve these hollyweird bozos have, bravery for admitting you were drunk and responsible. And walterkronkite what exactly do you mean by your comment? Have you thanked a SOLDIER today, our true heros that sacrifice so much.

32. Did some of you guys read anything this man said about being completely regretful? It was a mistake. A huge mistake, and he's obviously willing to pay the price. Why wouldn't his lawyer try to get him a reduced sentence? Among punishment, other primary purposes for prison is to rehabilitate people and to get them to realized what they've done is unacceptable in society. Well it seems he's already won that part of the battle. I'm sure you guys have known people to make last minute idiotic mistakes with drinking...his happened to cost the life of a teenager. He'll have to live with that for the rest of his life...that's a huge punishment in and of itself. So back off and try not to be so high and mighty. And as far as his comparison to soldiers in Iraq--he wasn't making a comparison. He was saying that if soldiers can risk their lives by going to Iraq, he shouldn't have a problem with serving a sentence for a crime he's committed. Come on.

33. Moranda you said "at least Brandy has accepted responsibility for her mistaken accident".You are correct but Brandy has yet to come forward on the Manslaughter charges. This lane garrison was drunk and not able to operate a motor vehicle. Brandy as far as we know was sober which makes this even more suspicious. This was gross negligence on her part travelling at speeds of over 60mph hitting those vehicles that were stopped on the 405. I would like to know what else the DA has in their files against her.

35. Well, since you know the drill from your short comings on Prison Break, dear boy, don't take too many showers and whatever you do, don't bend over to pick up the soap.
You had a man already, so you know the score. Take it "easy" and slow.
You also deserve to be jailed, but for a much longer term. Bring an extra set of knee pads, as you'll need them.

36. Brandy - Are you playing the Race Card and not going to prison? Guess Al and Jesse came out and screaming as usual and your out free. Free like the others on Welfare, SSI, and the killer OJ.

37. If you break the law, you should pay the price. If it were anyone any regular Joe, they'd have to go to jail.

38. Drink, drive and kill someone. Say I'm sorry. Get a lousy 6 years in Prison. Most likely you'll be out in less time, for good behavior with Bubba. Treat him well. KY is of some help in the shower and hope they all give it to you!!!!! Wish you got 25 years or longer.

40. Oh --- Now your stating there was brake trouble, and they will look into it. Did you also have "brake" trouble buying and drinking to become drunk, you lousy low class bastard.
6 years - A joke of our court system. You took a life due to your drinking. 6 years is nothing. Rot in prison and hope your Bubba takes good care of your buns honey.

41. To #21, I hope one day you are not in this situation. Who twisted those stupid kids' arms and let them into his Range Rover???? How many people drive drunk and get away with it? I'm sure you have numerous times. We all make mistakes but this time it was a tragedy. At least Lane owned up and takes the bus and doesn't continue to drive behind a wheel like stupid Paris and Nicole. He took a life and for the rest of his life he will have guilt. Give me a break. Where is the compassion in this world? You are the clueless one.

43. Poor guy! He is young! It's really sad someone lost there life, however if there is ever a lesson to learn i do believe he has learned it and will not be forgetting it anytime soon. Give the guy a break. The majority of the people out there were once young, and dumb too.

44. Hailey B,
Explain to me why you have compassion for a person who gets behind the wheel of a vehicle after doing cocaine and being twice over the legal limit for alcohol consumption. Then kills a person because of those careless decisions?

45. wow, i cant believe most of you feel "sorry" for the guy.... how come no one feels sorry for that guy that also killed the director of christmas story.. same situation, but feelings towards each case are completely different...
