Celebrity Justice
Actor Will Plead Guilty to Manslaughter

TMZ has learned former "Prison Break" star Lane Garrison will plead guilty to manslaughter.

Garrison, who has been charged with vehicular manslaughter in connection with the death of a Beverly Hills high school student last December, showed up this morning with his lawyer, Harland Braun, at the Beverly Hills courthouse. Garrison was scheduled to enter a plea, but Braun asked for a continuance.

TMZ spoke with Braun after the hearing. The mega-lawyer said Garrison will plead guilty on May 21. Braun added "There is no sentencing bargaining going on." The judge will have complete discretion, which means Garrison faces a maximum of six years in prison.

Braun said "Lane is very sad about the accident," adding Garrison told him this morning: "People are going to Iraq to risk their lives for our country and [I] am simply facing punishment for something [I] have done." Braun adds Lane wants to step up and accept the sentence.

Braun said he is waiting for engineers to come back with reports on whether there was a mechanical defect that contributed to the accident. Braun said the brakes may have been defective and the vehicle may have gone in on a recall before the accident. If brakes contributed to the acccident, that could affect Garrison's sentence.

Cops say Garrison's blood alcohol level was .20, more than twice the legal limit.

62. I AGREE AND FIND IT TOTALLY RIDICULOUS FOR HIM TO MAKE ANY PARELLELS BETWEEN HIM HAVING THE COURAGE TO OWN UP TO RESPONSIBILITY WITH THE TROOPS THAT ARE IN IRAQ. THE TROOPS IN IRAQ ARE PROTECTING AND SAFEGUARDING, THIS MAN HAS KILLED AND DESTROYED A LIFE SO YOUNG IT BARELY BEGAN. THERE IS NO WAY OUT OF COMING TO TERMS WITH THE HORROR OF HIS ACTIONS WHICH IS WHY HE IS "OWNING UP". ALSO THE WHOLE THERE MIGHT HAVE BEEN AN ISSUE WITH THE BREAKS IS ANOTHER FORM OF DISPLACING BLAME, IF THEY ARE FOUND DEFECTIVE THAT WOULD GET HIM OFF WITH NO JAIL TIME. PLOY! THERE WAS NO ISSUE WITH THE BREAKS, THE ISSUE WAS THE DRIVER, THINKING HE COULD INTOXICATE HIMSELF OVER 2 TIMES THE LEGAL LIMIT AND STILL DRIVE HIMSELF HOME. THE TRUE CRIME IS THAT THIS JUSTICE SYSTEM ONLY WORKS FOR THOSE WHO CAN AFFORD TO BUY IT AND THIS IS SPEAKING FROM SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN IN WORLS OF LEGAL TROUBLE AND EACH TIME WROTE A CHECK TO PAY MY WAY OUT. OUR SYSTEM IS FLAWED AND CORRUPT, FOR SALE TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER. I AM CERTAIN THIS MAN WILL DO NO JAIL TIME, IF SO IT WILL BE A "MARTHA STEWART SENTENCE" IN SOME CUPCAKE PRISON WHICH IS A FURTHER INSULT TO THE FAMILY WHO LOST THEIR LOVED ONE.

63. The only "brake" issue, he did not know when to stop partying. I am SICK of all these spoiled brats in Hollywood that get to live out there dreams, unlike so many others, and they think they can party, drive, do drugs, sleep around, etc. and the real world laws do not apply to them. He should go to jail, as Paris should go to jail. If it were you, I, our brother, sister, mother, or father, we would not get the slap on the hands these people get..

Snoop Dog, gets caught AGAIN, with drugs and guns and ALL he gets is 800 hours community service BIG DEAL. Again, if we were do to anything closely similiar we would do time.

Time AMERICA WAKES UP. They put their pants on one leg at a time, pee, go to the bathroom, have gas, and everything else everyday people have. They are NOT above the law, and we the public need to stop putting them up there. JAIL TIME. My daughter and son want to be in the industry, the more I see, the more I want them to be school teachers. Good grief. Is all Hollywood jacked up, and off their rocker?

Remember money buys option, but it cannot save people from death, per si. Look at Jackie Kennedy, John Kennedy, Bill Clinton's mother, and so forth.

64. I really don't feel that bad for him... His blood alcohol was FREAKIN' .20!!!! AND he's partying with minors and driving them around. That's a bad role model; however, fessing up is a start to being a better one, but his ass SHOULD go straight to jail and not collect $200 dollars. You know and every day joe who does the same thing would go to jail - what make start impervious to the law???

The whole war -vs- accepting responsiblity for this horrible tragedy... I'd rather go to jail than over to the war - althought I'm not quite sure what the difference is - prison/American military... hmmmm....

65. obviously some of you guys do not know the feeling of having a mistake you cause, ending someone to loose their life. I hope you guys never experience that, its something that can HUNT you till you die. I FEEL bad for him, not because he is going to jail, but because every time he closes his eyes that KID will be in his dreams. Forget about the jail time, the guilt time will end his mental well being. BE SAFE
