Sanjaya - Onward to Victory!

Sanjaya MalakarWhether or not you agree with Howard Stern and votefortheworst.com's quest to make Sanjaya the next "American Idol," one thing is for sure -- in Sanskrit his name literally means "victory." Go Sanjy!

Sanjaya is also a character in the Hindu epic story Mahabharata. And according to the bastion of accuracy that is wikipedia.org, the Sanjaya character "is known to be brutally frank in his recital of the day's battle events and his own opinions." TMZ may not be experts on Indian tales, but the "brutal" and "recital" parts couldn't be any more accurate about our furry little Malakar!

America breathlessly awaits (or is that asphyxiation?) seeing if Sanjaya gets one step closer to fulfilling his victorious destiny on tonight's J.Lo infused elimination show.

31. Hi Nazir, Thanks for your feedback. I agree with Paula when she says that
Sanjaya is holding back. In his audition I think he was pretty strong
singing that Stevie Wonder song, but then during the competition he plays it
safe. Yes, he hits the notes, but he is holding back. Overall, I think he is
very pleasant. He hasn't had a lot of performing experience, and that might
be why he is holding back. Besides he is only 17. I hate to have joined on
the "let's make fun of Sanjaya" bandwagon. He appears to be a very sweet
person. Best, Tenley Tenley is a writer for Boston Herald Nazir Patel
wrote Let this right. Gwen Stefani said about Sanjaya- he picked her tough
and difficult song to sing and he did. Vocals not strong but notes not
missed. Now Tony Bennett just said some good words about Sanjaya- he is an
entertainer- he can sing. Again showmanship Sanjaya showed and again vocals
not strong but he danced with Paula while singing - did not miss a note -
did not forget his words. So you can still vote for him as the entertainer
of the American Idol series - and who knows - American Idol may just give
America a new youth entertainer if not an American Idol.
Obviously all those votes are coming from somewhere and Sanjaya is still
in the race. I would like Sanjaya to win so that the American Idol format
can change. When the last 3 contestants are left , American Idol can invite
three prominent singer judges to make the selection. A new guest judge for
the last 3 episodes.
I have not watched all the episodes of American Idol. I
would also like to add that in India there were two shows Indian Idol and Fame
Gurukul. Qazi won the Fame Gurukul although he was not considered a good
singer but the people kept voting for him because they fell for his good looks
and entertainment factor. He could do good imitations of popular Indian (
Bollywood ) actors.

http://in.rediff.com/movies/2005/aug/29qazi.htm

I am sending these two links - especially the rediff's august link points
out to the inability of Qazi as a singer , nevertheless why people were
still voting for him.

That shows that one may not have the best singing ability but if you can
come across as an all round performer - then voice be damned. It is entirely
upto the voters.

I also noticed Sanjaya's nose. Doesn't it look
like Michael Jackson's prior to all that nose surgery ? I mean he has that
flat nose like Michael had when Michael was quite young.

Because I have not watched all episodes has Sanajaya
missed any words while singing any of the songs ?

Another observation : He did pick a tough song as Gwen Stefani
put it - he could have picked an easy song
Tony Bennett also had a few good words to say on Sanjaya.

Conclusion:
This is a classic situation that can only be compared to India's Fame
Gurukul's Qazi Touqeer who was the winner because people voted
for his good looks and entertainment factor and overlooked his singing
weakness.

Sanjaya's win may see a change in the format. As I indicated in
my comments that Americans can vote for all except the last 3 contestants
remaining. For each of those three final episodes have a new guest judge (
popular singers) - and every last three episodes would have a
different guest judge - and their points input would then select the top singer
, followed by #2 and # 3.

And finally add Jennifer Lopez saying something nice about Sanjaya and Sanjaya performed the spanish ballad well that even Simon could at best indirectly compliment him.

32. Sanjaya rocks! At least he's not boring and doesn't have the same look each week like Gina, Haley and Chris S. Sanjaya is actually fun to watch. He's an entertainer.

What I am really sick of is the fat, sassy black girls "belting" out tunes as they shake their heads and wave their fingers. Fantasia, Mandisa, Jennifer Hudson and now Lakisha, they're all alike and I am bored with them.

33. I'm gonna have to agree with one of the other posters. Clearly you guys are not even watching the show. You must have seen some video on You Tube of one of his many bad performances. My opinion is that Sanjaya had the best performance last night. Others may disagree, but no one can say he wasn't in the top 3 best performances last night. Even the judges had to give him props, which I'm sure was not easy.

I am proud of Sanjaya for not falling apart despite all the ridicule. Now lets hope his performances improve from this point.

36. NOW DO YOU BELIEVE ME THAT SANJAYA IS STAYING TONIGHT & HE IS...

The next one to go next week...probably Phil.

Week after that, it's a toss up between Chris Richardson & Sanjaya.

Week after that, it could be Blake.

Then either Kiki, and a shocker, Melinda...but I could be wrong on this one.

MY MONEY IS ON JORDIN....

40. I don't even vote anymore.....If the "idiots" of the world want this young man to win....let him win....Clearly, there are many in our country that seem to feel holding up someone to ridicule is funny...I don't. I find it very sad that so many can be so crule.

Sanjayia with make a LOT of money..and he will be the one with the last laugh as he is going to the BANK with all their money...God bless him.
