Sanjaya - Onward to Victory!

Sanjaya MalakarWhether or not you agree with Howard Stern and votefortheworst.com's quest to make Sanjaya the next "American Idol," one thing is for sure -- in Sanskrit his name literally means "victory." Go Sanjy!

Sanjaya is also a character in the Hindu epic story Mahabharata. And according to the bastion of accuracy that is wikipedia.org, the Sanjaya character "is known to be brutally frank in his recital of the day's battle events and his own opinions." TMZ may not be experts on Indian tales, but the "brutal" and "recital" parts couldn't be any more accurate about our furry little Malakar!

America breathlessly awaits (or is that asphyxiation?) seeing if Sanjaya gets one step closer to fulfilling his victorious destiny on tonight's J.Lo infused elimination show.

61. If Sanjaya wins, there will be a conspiracy. AI has had issues with phone lines being jammed, and because Howard Stern is totally for getting someone who isn't AI winner material to win, it could get interesting.

Basically, Sanjaya is another William Hung. His albums will sell merely for comical reasons, nothing more.

64. I feel like barfing whenever his image shows up on screen---and when its his turn to perform on AI, I put it on mute and then read ---and then i put back the soun when he is done with his "cute-to-himself-only" reciting---definitely no singing!

65. Sanjaya is truly inspiring. His success is a TRUE all-american story, of which MOST americans descend from; white immigrants coming from Europe to this great land with dreams and hopes, and they find it! WOW! I am not Indian, and I've never been to India, but it's my understanding that life there is very harsh and difficult if you live in poverty. I don't know very much about Sanjaya's family either, but I would imagine that they came to North America for a better life, and then to suddenly have Sanjaya be thrown in to the spotlight. His family must be so very, very proud of him, and I'm very proud too to imagine where he's come from! GO SANJAYA! Ignore the haters, they're just VERY jealous of your talent, looks and charm of which they can NEVER possibly have! Sing from your spirit!

66. This guy is annoying to look at. I have literally never watched AI, but I am forced to look at images of the contestants on a daily basis. And Sanjaya (?) is literally the biggest dork I've ever seen. Admit it. If he were in your high school class, he'd be the kid who gets the crap beat out of him on a weekly basis. No one would find him cute. These little girls posting here and crying on the show only like him because he's on tv.

68. I will vote for Sanjaya until my fingers turn blue from hitting redial!
Go Sanj!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

American Idol is such a horrible show, for many reasons. I hope after what happens this season, it's cancelled.

69. #69 spark, if sanjaya would be a kid in your high school, he would the smartest kid in your school. have you notice that in american all indians are in top level field like doctors, nurses, surgeons, and in computer fields.
BruceLD, i am indian and ived lived in america for over 12years. But what i remeber everybody worked there butt of india. life in india and life in america is truly different. ive remeber that we did had a tv in india, but we never watched it and so is alot of people i knew, because we were into family and friends and most importantly education. SO REALLY DIDNT EXIST IN OUR LIFE.

70. 72. a.k.a. sweets: You're right. India yields the most brilliantly educated professionals in the world, and not to mention THE MOST beautiful woman on this planet, Aishwarya Rai. I can't blame others for being jealous of your country. I'd be very proud if I were Indian!

71. Unbelievable ... he/she is still there! if she's kicked out in the next round, will there be an uprising or a celebration? i sure hope she wins - she really sucks!

72. Ya know, maybe Howard Stern is like the rest of us....still po'd because his vote was one of the ones that got re-routed to a different Idol's phone number last year......so maybe AI is getting back what they deserve! I don't mind seeing them get their just desserts but I hate that it is at the expense of another human being's feelings.

73. I don't get the uproar about Sanjaya - how many "Idols" in history have been about talent? It's a charisma thing. And if Sanjaya has that factor for a big enough audience good for them. The judges keep saying "this is a singing competition", yet it's not called "America's best singer". It's called American IDOL. It is a shame if people sabotage it, though - it's sort of like kicking over a mean kid's sand castle. Two wrongs don't make a right. Seriously, people, grow up. Idol's no pillar of morality, but you can't dispute that they do seek and find real talent.

74. AMERICA HAS VOTED!!!
I want to point out that all these votes are made over and over by certain people.
There should be one vote per phone call. Any one calling over and over like that should not have their vote counted. THIS IS NOT A FAIR COUNTING!
Sanjaya is not an American Idol, good singers are being booted from an unfair voting system. This will be joke if he has any other good singers booted.
It's gone too far as it is.
Chris R. Is one of the very best.
The screaming obese contestants are old and tiring to watch.
Fantasia was a joke. So many real good singers were booted for her, more unfair voting,
she is NO American Idol in my eyes.
Come on America vote fair and for Talent!!!!!!
