"ER" Doc Sues; Claims Contractor Nailed Him

Actor Mekhi Phifer claims his former contractor didn't live up to code, so now it's code red in court.

In a lawsuit filed today in Los Angeles County Superior Court, the "ER" doc claims he paid a construction company a bundle back in 2003 to increase the height of a block wall on his property and to remodel a carport. Phifer says the company never got the proper permits and violated the building code. City inspectors arrived last year with bad news -- either get the proper permits or, in classic Ty Pennington form, take down that wall! -- and carport.

Phifer says it will cost 95 grand to undo the mess. He's suing for $161,000.

Calls to the construction company were not immediately returned.

4. You kidding. He hired a contractor do build, the contractor should know all the forms a permits to file. If he has to tear in down his accountant can write it of on his taxes. Providing he does not have a shady accountant..lol

10. I don't blame him at all! The contractor screwed him and deserves to pay up. It's a real pain in the ass to deal with incompetence and no matter how much money Mekhi has it's still a bad situation he has to deal with.

15. Oh Boy, a story about another mindless actor who probably hired a illeagal contractor and didn't bother to do his homework. Who really cares about lazy individuals who make a living pretending they are professionals when in reality the only other job they could get and hold would be at the local AM/PM. He deserves what he gets.
