Imus: "There Is No Malice in My Heart"

With his suspension not taking effect until next Monday, Don Imus took to the air today for WFAN's 18th Annual Radiothon to try and raise money for a good cause -- and to apologize. Again.

"I am horribly sorry I said it," he bleated this morning. "I know how it hurt these kids and they're going to tell me. But everyone knows what I've been doing for 30 years. It was a joke." Oh yeah, he's a riot.

MSNBC announced yesterday that it was dropping its simulcast of the "Imus in the Morning" radio show, after his disparaging remarks about the Rutgers women's basketball team. CBS Radio has suspended Imus for two weeks, effective April 16.

166. The King is dead....... so who or what show or personalities will benefit? There are a lot of watchers who are left in a vacumn. The guy on for the past two days is just filling space and time so he will go. Where do we go for good TV in the morning between eating our toast and brushing?

How about Col. Jacobs? In my view he is very personable and from past programs appers to be on top of current events and had the stature to talk to any politico. He is also free from a wife thing that dictates taste in food, cleaning materials and broad social agenda.

167. Hey Jerseygirl: A lot of people know about "The Ranch". Do YOU know that when he is at the Ranch for the "poor sick kids" he uses the ranch vehicle (and gas) to go into Albuquerque to get his cowboy hat blocked? Do you also know that when his friends (Bo Dietl and the like) just happen to drop in at the ranch he feeds them the food that money was donated to feed the "poor sick kids". His not sick kid Wyatt participates in the rodeo competition that is supposed to be for the "poor sick kids" and usually wins a belt buckle also donated to the ranch for the "poor sick kids". So please get your story straight, and not from the foul mouth Mr. I Mess. This guy wants everyone to believe how wonderful he is. A guy who teaches his kid to swear!!!! The kids want to come back to the ranch because they are POOR and impressed with money, just like the one's that wanted to always go back to Michael Jackson's Neverland. Get it straight toots, the Ranch is for him and his family's benefit, he just uses the kids as an excuse so the upkeep on that place is paid by charity, unlike his New York apartment and his Connecticut home.

168. I hope Imus tells his hypritical, raving antagonists (Sharpton & Jackson, etc.) to "bugger off". They are trying to capatalize on remarks that are the same as their " brothers" use all the time... THEY ARE THE BIGGOTS! Imus rightfully appologized to the ladies and they deserved it but he doesn't owe news hungry black racists anuthing but his ire!!.
Boycott MSMBC for their censorship... they are against freedom of speach as their actions have indicated!!!

Isn't that the truth? Let's see..."Ministers" Della Reese (on LKL last night), J.Jackson, and A. Sharpton......don't know what forgiveness is...or convenietly justify that forgiveness isn't an option here. Hmmmm..makes you wonder about the company hell may be entertaining. The way I have been taught is that if one cannot forgive another....there is no forgiveness for them. Wonder if there is a select group of society exempt from that.

The ONLY unforgivable sin that I recall is blasphemy. So, are we to believe that this 'select' group is God themselves? I refuse to believe that.

Good thing though...now Don Imus will be on satellite radio and television in a few days and, instead of being broadcast in a few areas, he will be heard all over the world. Guess it is true one reaps what they sew. These 'ministers' and their ilk have sewn a wider range for IMus that will not be held back from their hatred and political agendas.

170. who said white men can't jump? All we have to do is look at Brian Williams, Dan Abrams, Tim Russet, Tom Brokaw, and the rest of corporate America. You jumped ship on your best friend quicker than anything I have EVER witnessed. Guess Mr. Russet won't be adopting Wyatt if something happens to Don and Diedra while they are in Iraq with their good friend Brian Williams. What Imus said can't touch a candle to the thousands of lives you all have affected. All the good works Don and Diedra have done have done over the years has been destroyed by your actions this past week. I pray to God it will be seven more years before I say something hurtful or offensive to someone else. Now you all can send send your financial contributions to Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson's charities. You put Imus out of business.

171. If we re eliminating freedom of speech, let's get rid of all the shock jocks, editorials, rap and all offensive jokes. Then we'll all be on an even playing field with Don. What is demanded of one should be good for all.

172. There is and always will be racism and religious intolerance in the world. Is Don Imus a racist, I don't know because I have never had a private conversation with him. However, I know when I listen to his show, that he is an equal opportunity offender. That's his persona. If I were on his show, I believe I should be prepared to be skewered after I hang up. Perhaps his mistake was not realizing that he's not just a shock jock anymore, but a serious political forum. He made a mistake. This time some group turned it into a witch hunt of monumental proportion. He has been burned at the stake for the benefit of a few. The black community says Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton don't represent them. Then why was Sharpton on every TV show I turned on last night? This man needs to put put out to pasture. Stop giving him any credibility. There were many intelligent black commentators with valid opinions, yet they are overshadowed by Sharpton's agenda. How sad. The Rutger's girls are scarred for life? Give me a break. They have gotten more publicity than they ever would have received. Is anyone offended by Dave Chappelle's skit , "The Ni____ Family' or is it OK and funny because he's black? As long as there is a double standard, blacks will never get the respect and equality they are looking for. This was an incident for Sharpton and Jackson to start it all again. Perhaps they are out of money or just not getting enough attention. People will treat you as you want to be treated. If you present yourself as a victim that's what you'll get. Imus has done so much good for children, it's a shame he was personally attacked, instead of going for the bigger issue that everyone says this was about. This has been a physically sickening situation. I have never been so enraged by a story. Leave this man alone. I hope he comes back stronger than ever and uses this for good in his life.

174. It's a good day in America when a sexist, racist jerk is removed from the airwaves where he's in a position to influence millions everyday. The world is changing and ol' dinosaurs like Don Imus are moving on.

About seven years ago I noticed many women business owners and aspiring business owners have a tendency to hold back when it comes to marketing and selling in business. Areas critical to their success. They’re terrified of being thought of as pushy or aggressive so their efforts are often reticent and they get passed over even if they’re highly qualified and/or offer great products and services.

I ended up writing a book to empower women who are home-based business owners (Testosterone-Free Marketing). My experience mentoring women and the thousands who've bought my book has taught me much of the reason women hold back and are afraid to project more assertively goes back to prior ridicule and degrading comments, fear of ridicule and criticism for just being women - as the Rutgers basketball players encountered.

As a result millions of women hold back in life and in business. This impacts each woman's personal economy and our national economy as women are starting businesses at double the rate of men. African American women are starting businesses at four times the rate of men. So the long-lasting impact of degrading, throwaway comments aimed at women is huge.

175. What Imus said was wrong. He knows it, everyone knows it so get over it. I'm sure everyone has said something in their lifetime that was bad and had to apologize for it but now you are messing with a mans livelihood. If you don't like his show then don't listen to it, simple as that. I personally met Imus and he has a heart of gold. I know someone who was sick with brain cancer and went to Imus's ranch and that was the highlight of his short lived life. Not only did Imus make this boy happy and give him a wonderful experiene, he's done that for many children. Doesn't that count for anything? If Imus was black and made that comment, none of this would be going on nowl.

176. Can you say DOUBLE STANDARD? The Iman is a funny, smart man and his show was meant to be funny over anything else. Damn CBS radio for firing him and may they rot in hell for such a poor judgement call. If this media icon had ANY hate in his heart, would he have given so much of his money and himself to help the children he's helped over the years and the other charities he's supported? NO. I can only hope either he's relaxing and enjoying his earlier-than-expected(yet well-deserved) retirement, or he'll rise up from this and become more than ever he was before, and laugh in the face of the cowards who made the decision to let him go.

177. by my last comment, I meant Don Imus was willing to bust his ass. All Sharpton and Jackson do is jump on everyone else's bandwagons.

178. I hope that someone is farsighted enough to pick Don Imus up and go on. Yes, he was wrong, yes, he knows he was wrong, yes, he has apoligized all over the place. What do they want, blood?
Did everyone suddenly forget all the good he has done for so many? Did everyone forget that he really is a great person and his heart really isnt where some people would like to say?
If the basketball team has the farsightedness to forgive, what is wrong with the rest.
I have done everything in my power to show my disgust at the way this was handled. I have written letters, cancelled credit cards, and sworn that the products of the companies that dropped him will never be on my property.
Don rocks, We want you back!!!

179. Imus Rocks!! I hope they can move on. Hopefully someone will have the nerve to stand behind him. Amazing how all of his friends baled out when the going got rough. He will find out who is real friends are on this deal.
He has sincerely apologized and that should be good enough.
