Imus: "There Is No Malice in My Heart"

With his suspension not taking effect until next Monday, Don Imus took to the air today for WFAN's 18th Annual Radiothon to try and raise money for a good cause -- and to apologize. Again.

"I am horribly sorry I said it," he bleated this morning. "I know how it hurt these kids and they're going to tell me. But everyone knows what I've been doing for 30 years. It was a joke." Oh yeah, he's a riot.

MSNBC announced yesterday that it was dropping its simulcast of the "Imus in the Morning" radio show, after his disparaging remarks about the Rutgers women's basketball team. CBS Radio has suspended Imus for two weeks, effective April 16.

61. No talent old man. Glad to see your old dong off of the airwaves. I'll be e-mailing CBS in favor of your departure, as well.

62. Hey Don, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA.................. Who has the last laugh now?

63. haha Imus is getting his.

by defending imus y'all just prove how racism is alive and well which in turns makes imus's punishment even more appropriate. his supporters are hastening his demise which is the most hilarious irony of all!

64. Get a grip! Just want to go on record - this is America - deal with it. You all know all the sides to this - the ONE that really matters is: I'm going to say what I think til the day I die, and YOU should be able to also!

65. The real issue is ALL RACISTS STATEMENTS need to stop. It is not okay for BLACKS AND RAP Singers to say these things and they should all be boycotted! The white boys are buying this and they need to stop buying and the big companies should stop producing it!

66. This isn't about JJ and Sharpton? The hell it's not. They were first in line to have their rings smooched by Imus.

The day that blacks stop acting and thinking like victims is the day they will actually stop BEING victims. What more evidence do you need to know that you are free to walk in the sunshine anyplace, anytime. A foolish old white guy made an insulting comment and WHAM!!, the entire nation trashed him. What more evidence do you need? You are free. Act free! Claim your freedom. Get a spine and toughen up. Stop seeing your skin color and start seeing the world as it is. It's tough out there for EVERYBODY. Not just black people. Get over it already. This is very tiresome.

67. So now Sharpton and Jackson are our new FCC? I am furious that they are now
dictating what we can listen to on cable tv.

For those of you who are not from NY, search "Tawanda Brawley" and read about
Sharpton's disgrace.....and he never offered an apology after ruining two policemen's
lives.

Don't forget Jackson's love child.

Write to NBC and CBS that you don't want to hear white trash jokes anymore on Jay Leno
and Letterman.....and they should monitor what songs their perfomers sing.....MTV, too!

I, for one, have already sent these e-mails...

70. oh my gosh, yet another rapper is on the news talking about personal responsibility and what Imus said!!! Take responsibility for your own words Imus could never compete with the malicious words that come out of most rappers mouths. I just don't get it, rappers can say whatever they want and its ok but any white person who speaks is just a stupid bigot. Get a clue people, get blaming the white man for everything, at some point rappers should take responsibility for what they say, they are talking about their mothers, sisters, wives and daughters when they say ho and b***h, it is not entertaining to me it is disgusting and I am sick of it. Quit saying rappers can demean women and its ok but if someone else does lets boycott them??? This is just stupid in so many ways!!!!

71. He's a no talent HACK. He doesn't belong on my t.v. or radio. I'm letting CBS know I'm in support of them releasing him too. Thank God I don't have to see his ugly puss on my t.v. anymore.

72. IMUST SHOULD STAY ON THE AIR AND ON TV

SHARPTON SHOULD BE THROWN IN JAIL FOR THE FRAUD HE COMMITTED IN THE TUANA BRWLEY RAPE CASE IN NY THAT WAS A LIE

JESSE JACKSON IS A CRIMINAL AND HAS A LIST OF ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES

SHARPTON AND JACKSON DON'T PAY TAXES WHEN THEY ARE REVEREND'S AND PLAY THE RELIGIOUS GAME .. THEY ARE FRAUDS

PUT IMUS BACK TO WORK AND STOP MAKING RACE RELATIONS THAT WERE NOT A PROBLEM BEFORE .. NOT GOOD TODAY ...THESE FREAKS ARE MAKING IT WORSE

73. He has said he was sorry a million times!! My gosh, Anna Nicole was a drug addict and even took drugs thoughout her whole pregnancy and everyone is making her out to be a saint! It makes me sick how they are raking Imus over the coals for one stupid comment! We all make mistakes. Lord knows I'v said some things that I wish I could take back as soon as they fly out of my mouth!

Imus should sue MSNBC for his right of free speech...then go after Reverend Frog Eyes!

Posted at 4:14PM on Apr 12th 2007 by Good Grief!!

74. Imus made an idiotic comment, and he's being skewered for it. His biggest mistake was being a white man and saying it. If he were any other color, this wouldn't have even made a ripple in the water.

Posted at 4:27PM on Apr 12th 2007 by The world is full of hypocrites

75. This is all pure hypocricy: Sharpton NEVER apologized.....at least Imus did, and Sharpton was so quick to criticize the apology. Ironic, huh?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imus_Ranch

The charity’s goal is to provide children with an experience of living life on a functioning cattle ranch. For 10 days, each child is expected to perform chores and tasks as if they were a cowboy, such as caring for all the needs of a horse. This is intended to provide each child with an opportunity to gain self-confidence and build self-esteem. The ranch operates all year but hosts children only when school is not in session.

During the summer months, Imus broadcasts his nationally syndicated radio program, Imus in the Morning, from a studio at the Ranch. The program was also telecast on MSNBC until April 11, 2007. Occasionally, children attending the Ranch will appear on the program

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tawana_Brawley

Brawley and her mother were issued subpoenas to testify in front of the grand jury, and refused to do so. This may have prompted Brawley and her family to move hastily to Virginia, taking with them a "defense fund" of $300,000 which had been contributed by well-wishers. There is still an outstanding warrant in New York against the two for ignoring the subpoena.

The case still hangs over Sharpton, particularly following his entry into mainstream politics (his race for the 2004 Democratic Presidential nomination involved his addressing the convention from its podium), not merely because he defended Brawley's story but for the unfounded accusations he leveled, and, according to some of his critics, his "playing the race card".

Maddox was later disbarred after being accused of billing and abandoning clients in an unrelated series of incidents.

In 1997, Brawley changed her name to Maryam Muhammad.

In 1998 Pagones was awarded $345,000 (he sought $150 million) through a lawsuit for defamation of character that he had brought against Sharpton, Maddox, and Mason, in which the jury found Sharpton liable for making seven defamatory statements about Pagones, Maddox for two and Mason for one.
