196. NBC's Six-Figure Deal for Larry

Now, it’s Larry’s turn.

After enduring months of watching Howard K. Stern sell the rights to his story, Anna Nicole Smith’s story and “licensing footage” to Paramount TV for millions of dollars, Larry Birkhead is ready to reap the rewards of paternity.

Sources tell me that Larry cut a high six-figure deal with NBC for the exclusive access to his success story. The deal, they say, was cut by his former attorney, Debra Opri, back around the time of Smith’s funeral.

“It’s in the high six figures,” says my source. “It’s enough to cover the money Debra Opri says he owes her, with plenty left over.”

Opri is suing Birkhead for $620,000 in legal fees. The case is now in arbitration.
I’m told the deal was actually cut through NBC’s Bravo channel for documentaries about Birkhead.

The way it’s been explained is this: Everything Birkhead does for “Access” will be repurposed for Bravo. And it was “Access Hollywood” executive producer Rob Silverstein who delivered Birkhead to NBC’s “Today” show for an exclusive interview with Meredith Vieira. That appearance was also covered by the Bravo deal.

When I found him yesterday on the “Access” soundstage, Silverstein would only say, “I’ve never seen a story where so many hands are out.”

He pointed to Virgie Arthur, Smith’s mother, as another example of someone who wanted money for interviews (she got it, for a while, from ABC).

Of course, Birkhead’s fee is nothing compared to the money sources say Stern has made off the death of Anna Nicole Smith. That figure, my sources report, is now as high as $4 million. This column reported that Stern and Smith had made a deal with Paramount TV back before her baby was born. Then, when the baby arrived and Smith’s son died, “Entertainment Tonight” and “The Insider” began their long exclusive arrangement with Stern.

Sources also insist that Paramount Television paid for Smith’s lavish Bahamas funeral. “They put $300,000 into Dannielynn’s account,” an insider insists. “That’s how they bought their access.”

But now that Stern is old news, and no longer of interest, “ET” and “The Insider” are out of the picture. Since the DNA test results revealed that Birkhead is the father, the Paramount shows no longer have access to the story. “The Insider” has become “The Outsider.” On the last couple of shows, their reporter “on the ground” in the Bahamas has been relegated to using public information to look exclusive.

Birkhead will need all the money he can lay his hands on once he takes custody of baby Dannielynn. Although he’s billed as a photographer, it’s unclear what kind of career the 34-year-old really had in that arena other than taking pictures of Smith. A few years ago he called himself a celebrity journalist, and wound up in a lawsuit with USA Today over a story about Sharon Stone.

And here — to parody “ET” — is some breaking news you can only find in the FOX 411: Birkhead is said to be in the middle of negotiations for a million-dollar photo shoot of himself and the baby with a celebrity weekly. The suspects: Us Weekly, Star, OK!, Hello!, Life & Style, In Touch Weekly. Why not? He’s going to be buying a lot of diapers soon.

Birkhead did have another career in mind before he met Smith. According to public records, he got a Kentucky real-estate license in 1993. But the license, according to the same records, expired on March 31, 2007.

If Birkhead moves back to Kentucky, he would probably be the best known real-estate agent in the state, which is a good thing, since he wouldn’t be able to touch most of baby Dannielynn’s inherited multi-million-dollar estate.

197. I hope to God that the courts don't let Vergie near that child. She would most likely shovel dirt on her in her sandbox and then stomp on top of her. Anna in her drugged state still insisted that she would never let Vergie near that child and she had her reasons. Anna's whole family were jealous of her and she knew it. Now Vergie's out for revenge. God only knows what she would do to that child once it was in her care. She would use her money and ruin that childs life like she did Anna's.

198. ALl the psychologists say that HKS has to get and stay out of the babys life starting NOW!!! HKS needs to leave that house.The lawyer for the house seems to think that HKS willstep up and be a gentelrman and do the right thing as far as the house goes.LEAVE RIGHT AWAY!!!!He sai that GB THOmpson wants LArry to live there for the transition and also Vergie.

199. What happens after or if they both get custody? Can Larry leave? If so, can he then go to the CA courts in and ask for an emergency heary for the US custody?

208. Do you say - LARRY and all men who win the lottery by having sex with a drugged up woman - should inherit all her wealth including her baby? Is that why ALL those men wanted to be called the dad - so they could WIN the billion dollar lottery .

I guess the baby will be treated now like Anna if the grandparents and the baby's blood family can't raise her?

This child was born to a drugged up mom - the child needs love - not a lottery winner of whose sperm made her pregnant when she was DRUGGED UP.

209. Why is this even an issue????? Grandparents don't have rights over the natural parents! Larry is the father and why he is even bothering to go to court with this wicked woman is more than I can understand. Tell her to get lost or you will expose her for what she REALLY is. Then do it! This obese trouble maker is seeing $ signs-nothing else. ANS will spin in her grave if Birkhead allows Virgie Arthur access to that child. She clearly stated she didn't want her to touch her child. Her wishes should count for something. I was glad Larry was going to be given custody....until I heard he is working with Virgie Arthur. Now I wish Howard would have fought to keep her and keep her away from Virgie Arthur! If that's what he's doing then Howard should change his mind.

210. # 138 - Dannielynn is not a Bahamian citizen, period. She is a child born of US citizens abroad. She has NO claim to Bahamian citizenship until she reaches the age of majority. At the age of majority she could choose to become a Bahamian citizen, and then APPLY for the privilege.

No doubt, Larry Birkhead has already made application for Dannielynn's Birth Certificate to be changed with Larry's name as the father, and applied for her US Passport through the American Embassy here in the Bahamas, so that she has the correct travel documents to travel to the US.

It's 'high time' to get this infant out of this media circus!!!!!

Get her away from this SCAM - Uncle Howard, Grandma & Grandpa Stern, Auntie Bonnie, Uncle Gary, Auntie/Uncle Pol' Attu & Patrik Simpson, Shane Gibson, Captain King Gibson, Bridget Niven, Nanny Gerlene Gibson, What a SCAM and a complete farce! In my opinion, all harbouring a minor.

Hopefully, this afternoon will be the last chapter of the Custody battle. Larry, get your documents, get airline tickets and run like hell! Hide out from the media in the Country Hills of Kentucky with your family until this all settles down. No need to come back for the Inquest, just write out a statement, have it notarized and submitted to the Court for May 2007.
