Paula -- No Sympathy for Sanjaya

Now that he's been booted from "American ldol," Paula Abdul couldn't care less about Sanjaya Malakar.

TMZ caught the loopy "Idol" judge outside Mr. Chow last night, where she went to chow down after the results show, in which the Sanjaya the Ponyhawked Wonder got the ax. When asked her feelings on his exile, Abdul wasn't exactly sympathetic, brushing off the question with a "Oh he'll be fine," and proceeded to sign photos for waiting autograph hounds.

With Sanjaya's media attention and lightweight vocals gone, Paula added, "The competition's gonna start getting heavy."

17. First of all, "I could care less" is an old saying. That's the way it was said even though it was meant to mean "I couldn't care less." I think it was started by Jack Parr. Now onto Sanjaya: I think he probably got enough votes to stay due to the "Vote for the Worst:" website but the producers just wanted him gone so they said he was voted off. IMHO

19. Grammargirl, are you serious? Gramma was saying that "I don't have none" is a double negative, therefore it is incorrect. She was giving you an example of a double negative since you obviously don't know what one is. I dare you to point out the two words in "could not care less" that make it a double negative!

If you insist on correcting everyone's grammar, why don't you make sure that it's incorrect to begin with?

20. Grammargirl, you need to review your grammar. A double negative is "I don't have nothing" which would mean you do have somehing:

Couldn't care less is proper usage. Do your research.

21. This comment section has deteriorated (or maybe been elevated?) into a grammar lesson, and I love it! I couldn't care less about Sanjaya or Paula. Translation: I care as little as I possibly can.

23. I can't believe this,

I'll admit, I have never even seen an entire episode of American Idol. I had never even heard Sanjaya's voice until a second ago when I looked him up on YouTube. I just can't stand it when some ignoramus insists on attempting to incorrectly correct someone's already correct grammar!

26. The bad thing about this whole thing, is that the people who voted for him, gave him false hope and set that child up for a big let down. They made him believe he was better then he actually is. That's just cruel!

27. Uh, back on topic....

Yes, I KNOW Sanjaya has trouble hitting the notes. BUT what I don't understand is why there is SO much HATRED toward him. Why all this "the nightmare's over." Huh? This is a 17-year-old boy and, yes, he hopefully knew what he was getting involved in when he hit Hollywood. But it seems that he's become the butt of everyone there at the show and I don't think Sanjaya is laughing along with them. In fact, he seems perplexed at times. Frankly, I think he's gay (and, no, I don't care about that.) But I think this kid is struggling right now with his identity and to have this much hatred spewed on him (between Vote for the Worst, Howard Stern, staravation gigs), I think it's over the top. Remember that guy named Scott Sable a couple years back? He was heavy set, creepy and couldn't sing that well. BUT it seemed the judges were actually kinda scared of him....like "don't piss off Scott. He'll kill you..." so they treaded lightly with him. Other contestants like Jon Stevens was forgettable and kinda freaky too but there wasn't this in your face hatred of him, like there is with Sanjaya.

Maybe Sanjaya is acting up behind the scenes and this is payback? I don't know. My sister and I went to taping of the show when we were in Los Angeles last month (it was the results show where Stephanie left.) During commercial breaks when the Idols were seated waiting, there were times when Sanjaya looked ostracized by the others; it was if he didn't know how to relate to them. Yet, there were moments where it looked like Lakisha and Melinda really cared about him. I'd heard that Lakisha had kind of taken him under her wing.

The bottom, bottom, bottom line of this is that Sanjaya, like it or not, has that special something....that charisma....that is sadly lacking in most of the contestants this year. He radiates charisma. Whether he can sing or not, I think this guy will go places in the business if he wants it. Maybe acting? Who knows. The biggest hurdle for him is going to be figuring out WHO he is and when I was 17, I was years and years away from figuring that out. IF he's gay, that's not going to play well with his Indian culture. I know. I've spent time with East Indians and they frown a lot on gays in their family, especially if they only have one son and he's gay.

So, can we stop this hatred toward this guy??? I mean, it doesn't matter to me what he does or where he ends up. But this over the top vitriol is really not cool.
