Alec's Shocking Contrast
Months before his now infamous rage-filled telephone rant, a candid Alec Baldwin opened up to Larry King about his highly criticized relationship with his daughter, Ireland.

31. The judge ain't no dummy, it sounds like -- and when Ireland starts talking one-on-one with her about possible past incidents ...

33. The only good thing that can come from Baldwin's phone call to his daughter is that NBC fire his ass from "30 Rock." Then and only then will I watch this show. I've boycotted it from the beginning BECAUSE of Baldwin. Didn't really care one way or the other about him until the night he was on David Letterman's show inciting the audience to kill Henry Hyde and then go and find his wife and daughter and RAPE and beat them.
This is voice of the "we love everyone, everyone is free to be, everyone (except right-wing conservatives) is entitled to their opinion, yada, yada, yada" Hollywood liberals.
Alec Baldwin needs to just STFU and go away. Preferrably as soon as possible.

34. I think his divorce has really poisoned his thinking. That's hardly an excuse for that savage diatribe against his 12 year old daughter. A child can be powerfully influenced by the words of a parent. Shame on him!

35. HEY #25
You can't make this pretty - he said it - no matter what - HE SAID IT - we all heard it - and there is no exuse for it!
You get angry at your kids - take a walk - breath- call your attorney thats what you pay them the big bucks for!
Why take it out on your kid?

36. Obviously, that is not the best language to use with a pre-teen, especially one that has been in such a bad family situation for such a long time. But my understanding is that this has gone on repeatedly and his daughter is treating him with disrespect. I never liked it when my parents yelled at me, but it was (usually :-) ) justified and I knew my parents loved my,even when they lost thier patience. Worse is this little girl's mother using this so publicly to hurt her ex-husband and not caring that the by-product is going to be her daughter humilated (wouldn't you be if this was your dad yeling at you and the whole world knowing?). Also, if you are not a parent, it is so easy to say, "I would never lose my temper", but only very, VERY few parents never lose it with a teenager at least once. That whole family could use some work and that poor girl has way too much grief, but, boy, is her mother messing her up...

39. Someday, if it hasn't already come, both parents will regret their action. The way they have both acted during their divorce for the custody of the child, no doubt the child was aware of most of it. Children pick up on these things. Parents say bad things about one another and eventually begin saying those things in front of the children and then to the children. No doubt this child is already screwed up somehow. Then, to top it all off, the parent leaves a message like this. Let's remember, no matter how frustrated, no matter how mad a parent is, this is a CHILD. It's one thing to punish your children for things they have done that they shouldn't have done. Each parent should do that out of love for their children, but to call your child names just because you're frustrated. Now you've permanently damaged your child because no matter that things might get patched up later, she'll always remember that. ALWAYS! People need to realize the things they say can hurt. I'm no saint, but after the last two weeks of Don Imus and then the killings at VT, maybe it's about time people start thinking about what they say before they say it. People should start to realize that their actions towards people will have consequences. As a society, I think little by little we're losing respect for one another. I'm not trying to lump everyone into that category, but more and more I see rudeness and disrespect coming out of people and it's very sad. I just hope that these two parents can start to think about their daughter instead of themselves.

40. It may be "logical to flip out" on your teenager if she's acting like a brat, but there is NO excuse for him talking to her like that and calling her a pig. He always seemed to have some kind of anger issues and that voicemail message just shows his true colors. Think about it, on Larry King he knew the entire world would be watching so of course he said what he said. But I bet he didn't think anyone would hear that voicemail message...

41. “Abuse can be defined as any behavior that is designed to control and subjugate another human being through the use of fear, humiliation, and verbal or physical assaults” (Forward & Torres, 1986, p. 43)."

42. All parents have these moments. If they say they haven't it's because they are new parents and have yet to get into the real aspects of parenting.Besides from things I have read, she is a spoiled little brat, who wants everyone stop and move out of her way when they see her coming down the street. He got fed up.I just wonder why she would take this public, probably needing even more attention.

43. Alec is a bully! He can not condone what he said to his 11 yr old daughter, his flesh and blood. Just think of the emotional damage he has inflicted on her through the years. Her mother is the "CLASSIC" ex-wife out for revenge who does everything she can to turn her child against the ex. It's a game to both of them with Ireland in the middle of it. So sad. Ireland will become a drug addict and hate men watch as see. And what she will say in later years will be....I don't want to be like my mother she kept me from my dad. Watch an see...I know...I lived this myself.

44. As a divorced father I can sort of sympathize with Alec. It started out all right (parent chewing out a kid) but unfortunately it disintegrated into an over the top rant. A real shame........

45. It is shameful this was aired to the public. He may be a hot head, but he cares enough about his child to try and communicate with her. His child people. In my view he was appropriate (with the exception of cursing) to be angry with a pre teen being disrespectiful. I wonder what parent would enjoy having their private conversations when angry with a child aired in public. People get angry, sometimes say things they dont mean to get someones attention. He is being a parent, sometimes it isnt easy. And the mom isnt helping by not insisting her child be respectful of her dad, and releasing this kind of private thing to the public. I have teens, they are enough to make a parent go nuts. Lissa you are naive, go and plant a flower and live in your perfect world dear.
